Abendgiro 2010 - 22 Uhr

Soon it is again so far. The giro in 2010 is the highlight for the team Liberty Seguros. After 2008 one would like to try to win again one must strengthen the giro and till then the team by Arnthor Valgeirsson still clearly. It is absent from all something, a good assistant for the mountains, a strong classic and still the one or other good level rider with strong government. The salary will presumably move about 600,000.

So as my riders get out of their joung ages, it seems possible to get an info about the prices, and so about the team that may start.

At the moment, it is

Image Lionel Terray - captian, trying to win at least one mountain stage
Image David Silva - captain for medium stages, but obvisiously without any realistic chances
Image Diniyar Bilyaletdinov - classic rider
Image Siarhei Harbok - flat rider
Image Julen Aguinagalde - flat rider
Image Alberto Entrerrios - flat rider
Image Ion Belaustegui - flat rider
Image Pape Bouba Diop - the i can't do anything man
Image Vicente Rodriguez - sprinter with no chances at all

a weak team with a horrible 449k to pay each day. I don't know if i really want to do that. For that amount of money, at least 3 stage wins would be needed to be the goal, and that will be impossible with taht lineup. In danger of beeing thrown out is mainly Vicente, who dissapointed in every way. Others to maybe stay home are Bilyaledtinov, who has to show that he deserved to be in the team, and Diop, but has to have bad luck if someone catches his place as there is only the joung Icelander Aron Palmarsson waiting to catch the spot. Watching him so far, with Vicente he is nearly at 60%-40%, so he has to show up what he can do at the belgian classics where he's set to be at least co-captain, and Roubaix, where the Team probably will focus on him. One good race may be enough to kick Vicente.

With the Giro as one of the Highlights in 2010, I will will also be on the starting line. I don't know which time it will be exactly, but I think it will be the latest edition.

The Giro will be my first GT. In the GC i will not have the best chances so that I will focus on the stages itselves. Hopefully I can reach the desired stage win. Maybe Matthew can be a surprise in the GC.

The lineup will probably look like this:

#1 Image Matthew Bearclaw Skills: 87-60-80-48-55-42reg - The leader. Matthew will try to win a stage and get the best possible and realistic place in the GC. He will be 29 in May.

#2 Image Angelo Pagani Skills: 70-80-76-55-53-49reg - The classic rider - he has to help Matthew during the mountain stages when all others are back in the main bunch. Maybe he get the chance for a stage win in a medium mountain stage. He will be 28 in May.

#3 Image Taliriktug Desalle Skills: 64-84-68-51-53-53reg - The 60-80. He has to be part of the squad. The best Allrounder for the Giroteam in general. He will be 30 in May.

#4 Image Drew Bezanson Skills: 56-74-75-56-46-47reg - The young classic rider - Drew will hopefully train hard up to the Giro start. He will get his chances in escapes and has to help during hilly stages. He will be 23 in May.

#5 Image Juha Salminen Skills: 53-82-73-54-56-52reg - The man for escapes - With his reg Juha will be the guy who gets his chances in escape groups. He will be 28 in May.

#6 Image Kris Holm Skills: 48-68-71-59-48-39reg - The allround helper - Kris has to help in flat stages and also in the beginning of hilly stages. Besides this he has to help in the team time trail. He will be 24 in May.

#7 Image Steve Romaniuk Skills: 50-74-59-51-44-45reg - The first "Waterboy" - He will be the typical helper with no personal aim. He will be 26 in May.

#8 Image ??? Skills: - The second "Waterboy" - Before the start of the Giro another (canadian) helper will join the Team Bearclaw. It will be a rider with a less salary demand.

#9 Image Cal Clutterbuck Skills: 50-72-68-81-46-35reg - The TT-specialist - He will go for stage wins on both time trails even though his rivals will be stronger. And for sure, he will be the man for the TTT. With his help we try to lose not that much of time in the GC. He will be 24 in May.

The team will be really expensive. But at the Giro it is not about money. It is only about the success. Based on the theme: "No guts, no glory" Team Bearclaw will go for it. There might be a short term change in the lineup but at the moment we are planning with this squad. I hope for a 22h starting time.

a little update:

The planned team as written above raised its salary to 461k. But still, no decision between Palmarsson and Vicente is made. In fact, those both are directly running into a coinflip. Advantage is still at Palmarssons side, who at least got 5 to 7 races more left to proove, while Vicente may have one if team decides to leave out Romandie. In fact, it does not look good for both, as there is no race a win would be something like in range.

Maybe i participate here at my first giro...
Only goal would be winning a stage with Eric. He already won stages in important tours like the campeonato, the Tour, Tirreno or Pais Vasco...so a Giro stagewin would be very, very cool.

Also a little update:

Training was ok the last weeks but not fascinating. The lineup will change I think but I am not sure right now. For the moment it looks like this:

#1 Image Matthew Bearclaw Skills: 87-61-80-48-55-42reg

#2 Image Cal Clutterbuck Skills: 50-72-68-87-46-35reg

#3 Image Taliriktug Desalle Skills: 64-84-68-50-53-53reg

#4 Image Kris Holm Skills: 50-70-71-65-48-39reg

#5 Image Angelo Pagani Skills: 71-80-77-55-53-49reg

#6 Image Steve Romaniuk Skills: 52-75-59-51-44-45reg

#7 Image Juha Salminen Skills: 55-82-73-55-58-52reg

These seven riders will start at the Giro for 99%. The following four riders have good chances to be #8 and #9. Two of them have to stay at home:

#? Image Greg Minnaar Skills: 67-81-75-52-64-45reg

#? Image Drew Bezanson Skills: 62-79-75-56-46-47reg

#? Image Marko Tarkkala Skills: 51-88-72-56-48-47reg

#? Image Zachary Pootoogook Skills: 44-78-68-46-44-57reg

Blair Morgan has to stay at home. His reg is not perfect for a GT and with Cal and Kris we already have two riders with less than 40 reg.

Hope this gets the thread for 22:00 Giro.

So here's my last lineup update, as all decisions have been made. It is Palmarsson to win the last spot.

Image Lionel Terray
Image David Silva
Image Diniyar Bilyaletdinov
Image Aron Palmarsson
Image Siarhei Harbok
Image Julen Aguinagalde
Image Alberto Entrerrios
Image Ion Belaustegui
Image Pape Bouba Diop

And the salary rised to 467,5 k/d. Having chances at probably not more than 2 or 3 stages, that's too much. But well, we'll do it.

And the start will be very good, the first stage we'll miss a 100%, the second is quite unsure. 5th stage is cancelled for me, too, should be clear. The rest, we'll see, we will likely miss some more.

I made the decision to start really expensive because I want to have as much fun as possible. Money doesn't bother me at all during the Giro. So I start with the following lineup:

#1 Image Matthew Bearclaw Skills: 87-61-80-48-55-42reg - 29 years

#2 Image Drew Bezanson Skills: 65-80-75-56-46-47reg - 23 years

#3 Image Cal Clutterbuck Skills: 50-72-68-89-46-35reg - 24 years

#4 Image Taliriktug Desalle Skills: 64-84-69-50-53-53reg - 30 years

#5 Image Kris Holm Skills: 50-70-71-68-48-39reg - 24 years

#6 Image Greg Minnaar Skills: 68-81-75-51-64-45reg - 29 years

#7 Image Angelo Pagani Skills: 71-80-77-55-53-49reg - 28 years

#8 Image Steve Romaniuk Skills: 52-76-59-51-44-45reg - 26 years

#9 Image Juha Salminen Skills: 55-82-73-55-58-52reg - 28 years

Salary: ~500k

Chances are not really good but I will try to reach more than second and third places ;) Fun is the most important thing in my first GT. Every success is a bonus...

3. Raja Gandhi
4. Sashi Therang
5. Damon Zeynep
6. Darian Rajavi
7. Ismail Tohti
8. Dolma Padmasambhova
9. Bhumi Vajhudari

Salary/day : 493.676

Top ten for Rinpoche, better not possible.

field 2?

hm,we have to rethink this whole opperation...

what is annoying me,are teams like canyon...having a 95 sprinter but absolutely no riders to support him(best flat rider has 79,all together 4 riders with more than 70 flat -there should be a law against this! ),ximista has a nice 60mountain/85 sprint rider, but also nobody in the team to support him(ok,one 68-80 rider),then there is aghn, best known for going in every km 1 group although he has on of the best sprinters in his team(ok but he is on the edge, probably will end up in field 1)...

probably will start anyway, just want to complain a little bit... ;)

After the Prologue we have to discuss our late night Giro edition. my thoughts for the GC:

**** Arnthor Valgeirsson
*** Wilmer Esmander
** Tendzin Rinpoche, Jean Coulieu, Lionel Terray, and other climbers
* other riders

Unfortunately, we have no (old) Huber in our field. So it is defenitely a climbers tour. The fight for the white jersey will be between Noé Charby and Achille Aguzzi I think. The red jersey fight will start tomorrow (but not really). Maybe a mountain rider or a classic rider will take this jersey till the end. But what about the green jersey? Tomorrow we will get a first impression.

Berliners are also here in Italy with a last minute transfer:
Demir Gekas join the team for the brasilboy Gustavol.

Line-Up: 489k

#1 Phillipe Thys
#2 Bernd Bratpfanne
#3 Zlatko Zahovic
#4 Dino Mavric
#5 Demir Gekas
#6 Thorben Christensen
#7 Hernan Pellegrino
#8 Jakob Jenko
#9 Ustov Osteric

Chances are not so good, because Thys get down in the training and Leso have a really parasit hilly-sprinter. Dino Mavric is very angry :P

GIRO GIRO GIRO - the target is to have FUN ! :)

What an fascinating first (real) stage?? The break group finishes just one second ahead of the peloton. Really amazing final. Hopefully we will get more of these exciting stages.

I have to say thank you to all teams because its a really nice field, no chaos and good work. I have to thank especially the sprinter teams (AGHN, Rhino, Bone, Erkrath) for helping me defending the maglia rosa. I hope, you appreciate that I helped as long as possible for a mass sprint. Tomorrow we/you will have more luck I think...

For the race in general... no real changes in the GC. And the fight for the jerseys began. Congrats to Cerro and Leso.

Yes, very exciting final. Today i want to be in a group, but i don´t think that the sprinters will make the same fault again.

Well, fault...

To time a group into seconds is the best sprinter teams can do, because it is the only way to get exciting sprint races. So it is ok like that, no risk, no fun. But i indeed think they won't let it get so close again. On the other hand, AGHN is not known for chasing very hard... we'll se how the sprinter teams will arrange. But i expect the chances for groups to be much lower than yesterday, too.

2nd flat stage. 1st mass sprint. This time we managed it a bit better in the main bunch. In my opinion the escpae group was not too difficult to reel in. But I like it when the sprinter teams wait till the last km to catch the escapees.

Next is the TTT. I think Libby will defenitely the strongest team in our field. We will see how much time the other teams will lose. The GC will change. I don't know if Cal can defend the maglia rosa one more time. If I look on my reg and my helpers I think it would be better to give the leaders jersey to Libby ;)

So, any other opinions?
