Super Prestige Esto

Post by iBanesto » Sat Apr 30, 2011 10:01 pm

April is over, classics season is over, right? Wrong. Classics are awesome, so every season should be classics season. If there are no real classics, we just make races classics. We do this by treating them with the same respect, passion and enthusiasm like real classics. We do this by starting these races fully determined to give our best to take the win, and not by racing half-assed for some money and a sixth place in a bunch sprint. We do this by bringing our best riders to the race. I want to encourage all of this by creating a monthly series of races, the Super Prestige Esto. It is supposed to reward the best classics rider and the best classics team of the RSF season. Every month I will pick roughly five (sometimes four, sometimes six) races that will form the Super Prestige Esto calender. Those races can be real races or fantasy races. The races shall be suited to typical classics riders, which disqualifies absolutely flat races and brutal mountaintop finishes. They should be distributed equally over the course of the month, so the calender of May is already a brillant failure. I guess it does not matter at all in Giro-obsessed May.
All other rules that I could think of are stated below. They are of course free for critic and discussion.

Calender:

03.03.2012 Montepaschi Strade Bianche
17.03.2012 Milano - Sanremo
21.03.2012 Dwars door Vlaanderen
23.03.2012 E3 Prijs Vlaanderen - Harelbeke
25.03.2012 Gent - Wevelgem

Ranking-Rules:

1. Riders are only qualified for the individual ranking by finishing at least four out of six races.
2. Teams are only qualified for the team ranking by participating in at least four out of six races.
3. Points for individual riders are awarded as following: 25-15-12-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 for the places 1-10.
4. The three best scorers of each team count for the team ranking. There is no need to obey rule 1 here.

Albo d'Oro:

Individual:
05/11 Leopold Fejér (Radunion)
06/11 Janko Sertic (Socca team)
08/11 Jawad Azizi (NoPikouze)

10/11 Ludvig Quist (Wookie) & Luiz Carvalho (Gnoien Cycling)
11/11 Arantxa Rus (Socca team)

01/12 Reinhold Möller (Steinz) & Willi Wollschläger (RV Allagen)
02/12 Willi Wollschläger (RV Allagen)
03/12 Sebastian Erixon (TEAM LAUSITZ)

Team:

08/11 fresim
09/11 Alkworld
10/11 Wookie

A lot of bunch sprints today, that's not cool. Anyway, I must add to the rules: No points are awarded in field 2 races. But they do count for the participation/finishing races rule.

Still have to see about race number five, I hope leso fills the calender in the next couple of days and one cool fantasy race happens to be in it.

Just compiled the ranking after two races. Not really interesting because almost no rider scored in both races. The team ranking is ok though:

lesossies : 32
BayernPower : 29
Falkenbier : 29
Die Adler : 27
Team Pueblo : 25
Rockclimbers : 25
Celtic Club : 25
SV Furpach : 25
Team AUT : 25
Team Saller : 25
Radunion : 24
Team Zanarkand : 20
Strohhutbande : 19
Gazza : 19
Team Franconia : 18
Petit Singe : 17
Fanta Vier : 16
rsc fischkopf : 15
Team LunaLounge : 15
EQUIPE LEGENDE : 15

Calender news: No cool race available so far. I'll have to wait another couple of days to see the races from 10th-20th. Also if Boucles de l'Aulne won't be in the RSF calender we'll probably insert GP Rogaland on the same day.

Calender News: Race 3 will be "Rund um Graz" this Saturday. Next week will be Giro and Cali, so I think it's best to have the race before Cali starts.

Propositions for June, both for rules and calender are very welcome.

Everyone in this delightful red color has not finished enough races. Which means that by my own rules Fejer and not Chevallier is the winner. Congratulations to Radunion!
But I will change the rules for June, I will aim to have a six-race calender with a demand for 66% participation, so to say: four races out of six. More June calender stuff is to follow tomorrow.

It was a bit unlucky that the final race for this months SPE was held while Beglium and Bavaria were running. Had it been one of the races on May 30 and 31 I'm sure there would have been lots of teams and riders complying with the conditions.

Luna is maybe right there. But I will stick to four out of six races for June and then reevaluate after this month.
Creating the calender is again very difficult with so few one day races in it so far. All I can say so far is that Aargau will most certainly be the first race and Hull to York has fairly good chances to be part of the series, just like the Giro della Toscana. That's three races so far. Suggestions very welcome.

Maybe Lausanne on 6th, because it is well located between Lux and Suisse, only missing the Daupine runners. And it's got an interesting profile that may provide an open race.

Asking Leso to put interesting profiles in the calendar one day after/before the tours could be helpful

Lausanne is really interesting, but I fear to put in two races on consecutive days. I also thought about Philly, but there's the same problem and Aargau is just better. Maybe I should dig in the fantasy race threads and send some "demands" to leso for the 13th/14th.

Just field 1, but I just realised Div 5-6 races show up as field 1 races in the results and there seems no easy way to distinguish them later.

Starvopol not really an option because of proximity to national championships, thus the last race is the Internationale Wielertrofee on the 29th.
July calender will be down to five races with a big finale in San Sebastian. Plus I will try to remember to make notes which races were Div5+6...
