January Calendar (Just taking inspiration from last year calendar):
01/01 GP Letzebuerg
02/01 - 13/01 January Tour (will discuss after about it)
13/01 - 19/01 La Tropicale Amissa Bongo (2.1)
14/01 - 18/01 Tour des Paves (MTP Pavè approved?)
19/01 - 24/01 Tour Down Under 2014 (2.UWT)
20/01 - 26/01 Tour de San Luis (2.1)
29/01 - 02/02 New Zealand Cycle Classic (2.2)
---------------------------------
These are the main tours of January.
Now, about January Tour, 02/01 is Thursday so probably it won't fit with rest day etc how was planned by the designer. Actually by cutting two or three days we can start it on Saturday/Sunday. Guess that second placed tour should have this option. Otherwise we can also handle with a "not-canonical" rest day.
Probably you will put some tours in // with January Tour, what about losing tours of the last little christmas competition?
La Tropicale actually doesn't fit so good as // of Tour des Paves, too long, obviously we can choose if delete it or move it somewhere more comfortable for us.
About Tour of Pavè i guess we will take Moscow one? Just speaking about it today. It ends at 18/01, and there starts the season.
Then TDU in parallel with T de San Luis. And New Zealand Classic even if it is a 2.2 race fits a place where no tour are scheduled, so probably is ok for all.

Re: January 2014
Definitively, we don't need this Tropicale which overlap with January Tour, Tour des Paves and TDU !!luques wrote:January Calendar (Just taking inspiration from last year calendar):

Re: January 2014
This is my proposal for the Tour of pavé, 2014, of course we accept suggestions and advice.
TOUR DES PAVES
In memory of Victor Villa team Petit Singe, Spanish rider won 3 races in his career and Paris - Roubaix 2013.
In memory of Peter Schmeichel team TDX, Danish rider and winner of 5 races 1 lap in careers and the Tour of Flanders 2013.
In memory of Kari Steinsson FL team, runner Icelandic winner of 5 races, 2 laps and sprint 1 ranking in career and Paris - Roubaix 2013.
In memory of Willy Vandendriessche team rQuick (then switched to Blues Racing), Belgian rider winner of 5 races, 1 and 1 lap sprint ranking in career and Paris - Roubaix 2013.
In memory of Daiken Sekiguchi team Petit Singe, runner Japanese winner of 7 races in his career and the Tour of Flanders 2013.

Re: January 2014
1) I'd suggest to avoid overlapping tours as far as possible. Just check the current number of teams riding the one-day races, where we are getting awfully close to negative numbers. I personally would love to ride some big, competitive races again. That not often happens with 3-5 teams.
2) The pavé tour looks good. I'm missing a hilly stage, but I'm not the designer
3) Voting for the January tour? We could vote, if we should vote But as there was the suspicion that the last vote was forged, I's suggest we vote again.

Re: January 2014
I am trying to do Tour San Luis. After some wrong stages seems that i find a key
Hope to do also others correctly but info are not so good or i miss some kms along the way.
All stages are saved as sanluis14_01(numberofstage)
Stage 1 like last year.
Stage 2: Mountain Stage, same arrival of stage3 2013, in the middle the route changes (no more cat 1 in the middle). Length 171km (real one is 170.6)
Stage 3: Flat Stage, arrival on +1, 175km, 21km min-tact ending on +1
Stage 4: Last year this stage was a mid-mountain, i classified it as Mountain stage cause the end is less flat, 30km min-tact, beginning i have a bit fooled around maybe will change a bit
Stage 5 ITT
19km as the real, min-tact from km1.
Stage 6 Mountain Stage same arrive of last year changes the start/middle, 184km long with 20km min-tact :
For the last climb i used the same % of last year, for a bit of coherence, if they are wrong just blame RKL
Stage 7: Flat stage with +2 final on Terrazas. 1km more then the original, 2 laps of a circuit, then other road. min-tact 20km.

Danke Leso! 6 Tage Zeit zur Planung für Januar ist ja überwältigend!
Re: January 2014
I notice it only now, but yes maybe a stage with some sieb on hills would have been nice for less repetition and more favos/outsiders2) The pavé tour looks good. I'm missing a hilly stage
Anyway, I guess it's almost too late to adapt one stage as far as it's already in the calendar and some probably set their forms.
We skip Tachira, ok.
4times for SanLuis and 5 for DownUnder is ok, or too much ?
Same question about the 5times for the pave tour, will the groups be consistent enough ? knowing that many teams with strong flat guys (= strong pave skill) will be with their sprinters in Venezuela ... would be sad to see 3-5teams groups on pave ...

Re: January 2014
4 times for paves tour looks good. Last year we had 5 times, 4 group between 7 and 9 teams, 1 at 14, maybe better if groups are a little bigger. For San Luis and TDU 5 times looks okay. No problem to have big group else if it was overlaping, not the same profil of teams will ride these tours, so no need to down San Luis at 4 times I thinkolmania wrote:I notice it only now, but yes maybe a stage with some sieb on hills would have been nice for less repetition and more favos/outsiders2) The pavé tour looks good. -> It is possible to ride both or am i blind ?
New Zealand Cat.2 ?
Really ?
It is a pretty shitty race and we are not off-season anymore.

Re: January 2014
Thanks leso.
December
Sulawesi 10-12
Antofagos: 5-6
Maya 5-9
Lesotho 6-10
Mpumalunga: 9-8
Syria 8-13
What do this numbers mean? The participation in the morning, 9-11 vs the afternoon, 14-16
Mpuwhatever, clearly the star tour of the month had more participants in the morning. So it's only logic that in January we get this
7 stage races for the morning, 9-11. Every single one
4 stage races for the afternoon.
Great job
No, the afternoon doesn't need every single stage race in January. But neither does the morning. But strangely enough the morning gets every single one each time anyway, even if the participation usually is as bad as in the afternoon. IN dec even worse, usually I guess roughly the same. Thanks a lot and continue with the good job.

Didn't think that this month afternoon kicked the ass to morning every tour except the idiot Mpumalunga which was even in // with Lesotho, so you should make a sum instead of considering them separately.

I cannot follow you, you dont take the 13h races in account, which I count for the early afternoon but you count the 11h races which are more late morning.Robyklebt wrote: What do this numbers mean? The participation in the morning, 9-11 vs the afternoon, 14-16

Maybe too much 13h races in december but not more.
