Marketing of the game

Probably now a better time than ever to reopen this topic. With all the new teams coming in we have a great sample. Guess the "marketing" part is actually done for now, but here are some findings from the past 12 hours:

-Around 50% of the new teams bought 1 or more rider, the rest didn't get to buying a single rider.
-Around 30% of the new teams have managed to inscribe for a race, but around 1/3 of them didn't manage to inscribe a full team so far.
-In yesterdays races (21h Camino & 23h Gravel Race), we had 20 new teams fully inscribed. 11 of them showed up. Today so far 25 new teams (that didn't ride yesterday) are signed up for Limburg 15h&19h, 16 of them have managed a full subscription.

In absolute numbers (as of 15 April 20h): around 520 new IDs created, 285 buying 1 or more riders. The Tiktok post is at 50k views.
As of 9h: 69 (hehe) unique new teams inscribed in a race, of which 43 managed a full subscription.

Things to improve
Some clear problems:
-Teams aren't buying riders (over 50%).
-Teams can't figure out they need to sign up riders for races too, not just the team.
-Teams aren't figuring out that they need to be online for the race (around 50% of fully inscribed teams).
-Only 10 new teams have used any kind of chat so far --> Lack of communication with the new teams

I will edit this post throughout the day to update the numbers and add more info.

Do the players get a welcome email? If not, it would be something, where we can give some first information about buying riders (also naming them!), subscription and the info that you need to stay online

I think that would be a huge step forward. We could add the forum link to RfMs guide there as well.

Another big thing: the fairplay rules. I am pretty sure, with so many new teams, lots of them will not be aware of that.

No problem as some genius created these penalty guidelines with mercy for teams <50 races :)

1 Team attack yesterday, but I think and hope we give the newbies some room in that regard :)

Yes. And I think we can handle some "chaos" too. Great to have this problem in the first place ;).

btw. I think it's not because of Falcor's TikTok. I think it's because bergwerk won Paris-Roubaix. Now we know that everything is possible and this positive energy led to the flood of new players ;).

That all came as kind of a suprise :D . Such a change of situation calls for a reprioritization of development (for which time sill still be rare unfortunately).
Can someone open a thread to collect the most urgent changes (e.g. Div 6 races, welcome message, etc.). Then I can think about those changes and do at least some with low effort.

I think first we have to accommodate the new players, which also could imply work for the admins, as problem will occur for new teams or the game with the current setting.

After some days, when have an overview who's still here and if there is still an increase of players, we can start adapting the game.

But a welcome message with a link to the manual and RfM's forum thread would be very good as a first action.

Div 6 races in my opinion when new comes the next days and weeks, yesterday evening was a perfect example why the split thing is a good thing. Almost all new had a Div 6 race. But the best way to learn more about the game is competing with the other.

Maybe a little news message in the C4F would be good that they should read the manual, use the general chat and the forum for questions.

Maybe its possible to give some experienced teams that are willing to help from different languages acces to racechats for a couple days? if we get races with only new teams the next days.

Yesterday evening Falcor and me did help a bit with answering questions due to our FPC chat ability maybe its possible to add that to some more teams so also new teams from other languages can receive good support?

Can you prepare a message (little time today only)? I can put it online

Dear new players, welcome to cycling4freaks!

We're happy about all the new registrations for the game recently. Nevertheless, as this has been a small not profit game led by the community itself, we ask you to be patient if there are any problems in the beginning.

For questions about the game, we recommend you to read the manual, use the general chat and the forum, where you will find helpful and experience players to answer them.

As a start, check out the quick guide how to start the game in the forum: viewtopic.php?f=17&p=128611#p128611

Have fun!

One more thought: we could create a poll to learn more about the new teams. It would be some kind of more structured communication with them.

Better somebody else does it, I'll rather use my time for implementation of Div 6 races :)

I did some short Videos for the inscription, race settings and sprint (Sprint and race settings doesnt work in english, tried often, but never find the right words). Maybe it is helpful, maybe not:

I tried a YT Short similar to the Falcor TikTok.
For some "hype" maybe some likes and push this short to other cycling freaks.
