So
To propose max 3 tour and 3 edition I referred to 15-19 / 2/2017 when Oman tour (11h 16h 21h), Ruta de Sol (9h 18h 22h) and (14h 20h 24h) were played in // in addition of one day races of 4 editions 10h 15h 19h 23h. Seem it worked.Robyklebt wrote: ↑Wed Dec 06, 2017 4:10 pmI see a problem here. With 3x3 editions... offer each tour to chose at least in the morning afternoon or evening? So 3 in the morning 3 in the afternoon, 3 in the evening? If I understood you correctly. 3 in the morning is 1 too many, 3 in the afternoon (until when is that for you?) might be 2 too many... 3 in the evening depending on from when to when too few. We simply can't offer something like 9-10-11-14-15-16-20-21-22. 9 editions will more likely be something like 9-10-14-16-18-20-21-22-24. So in any case not all 3 tours will be offered at all times. So it won't work the way you propose (again, if I understood that part correctly)
So a question: Why not 4 tours parallel? With less editions, for example 3-2-2-2. For example in February? Are you completely opposed to that or do you think that's possible too?
You propose to do 3 - 2 - 2 - 2 sometimes, no problem. Maybe tour with hight category with 3 editions. However if you think 3 tours in parallel are too many we spend a maximum of 2 + single ride. As said this is just my proposal. Surely there are people who are more experienced than me in planning the calendar. So far I have only received opinions on mine. I'm still waiting for the others.
OK I admit that even proposing the Asian, African and South American 2.1 tours is often complicated because of the difficult routes to find. Proposing these tours only when there are dead periods would also be a principle to follow. Just know it first and apply it to the entire calendar without any exception. In a few words I would simplify the speech by saying:Robyklebt wrote: ↑Wed Dec 06, 2017 4:10 pmI would add the typical Asian 2.1. things. Stuff in Japan, Korea, Iran etc. It's just not at the same level as European 2.1. If any European Pro Continental team starts, then it's Nippo (Japanese sponsors etc.), or sometimes a few others but with their 4th strongest team or so. IMO we can ignore those 2.1. races completely at first. And only add them when there is nothing else going on.
Ah, and you haven't talked about RSF category, but I still support the better c4f categorization over the political/money UCI categorization. (They will be similar, but the small differences make c4f categorization the better choice)
-always prefer a European tour (thinking well in North America cycling is quite common and routes are easy to find) to tours of other continents.
-add an extra-European tour only if you do not have enough tours in a month.
I always think that the categories of the game must follow for good and bad those imposed by the UCI. Let them decide according to history and prestige always open to useless debates. For example, I did not like that a higher score was given to the Paris Tour than the Milano Torino. also the Milano Torino has been won by great champions. However, you all seem very firm on this point and I preferred to skip it. But I remain of the idea that at least to select the races and set the calendar we must follow the UCI categories. If you have to discuss the importance and prestige of a race every time before entering it on the calendar, goodbye impartial principles and we do not get anywhere.
Always to come in against you I have agreed not to postpone any tour. But you tell me that the single races are used to give the opportunity to those who do not have the time to play the tour and that this is a game. I could say the same for certain tours that maybe have not been done and will not be done because in parallel with others and maybe it was enough to postpone them the following week. After all, the tour is also a game.Robyklebt wrote: ↑Wed Dec 06, 2017 4:10 pmSo no postponements for tours? Agreed.
On one day races, partly agreed. But keep them as close to the real date as possible, so when there are 4 races on one day don't go 1+1+1+1, but go 2+2 or if one is clearly more important than the others 1+2+1. And yes, in real cycling there are no one day races every day. But this in the end is a GAME. And if we don't have single races every day we just lose even more active managers. Not everybody always has the time to play on the same times for x days in a row.
I think we can still choose the stage races to do during the year regardless of the definite number of editions and times to be proposed. You tell me the participation changes during the year. Ok before entering the tour from the database of designers will choose their schedules. I opened this post to decide together what tours (and maybe when we have solved these we could move on to single races) to do throughout the year, not to ask to replace you in proceeding in the same way as you do now.Robyklebt wrote: ↑Wed Dec 06, 2017 4:10 pmThat will only work if the times are known. And that IMO is to early to decide. Popularity of times sometimes fluctuates. 2 years ago (?) all of the sudden the morning became very unpopular, only 2? 3? teams inscribed for the Giro. Now the morning fortunately is back strong. But if it happens again for a time, then it's better to just offer one tour at that time for a while, if we plan 2 now, then in August the afternoon is even weaker than it is now.... not good.
Better idea: Ask Luques to generally post the PDF on the 15th. Then max 10 days, until the 25th for us to complain, propose better solutions etc. And finalize it on the 25th (or 23 or so, 20st seems a bit early, only 5 days time)
When I find the time I will apply the selection between European and non-European tours.
I hoped that this post was more frequented and with more people saying their opinion. instead it seems only a bickering between me and Robyklebt. Not that it is not stimulating to discuss with you, but this shows how little people really want to participate.
With more opinions and proposed models it would be easier to find ideas shared by more players.
However we are already beginning December. I opened the discussion in September a few days after the presentation of calendars or UCI during the week of the cycling world championship. I doubt from here to the beginning of 2018 we will manage to get something done.
