c4f-Awards - Climber of the year 2020 nomination

Post by Weezel » Thu Dec 24, 2020 1:34 pm

Everybody can nominate one climber until 31th of december 23:59.
After this a little comitee will figure out the best five nominations (to avoid fun-nominations) and then we vote.

Arguments for your nomination would be great.

Fontaine big big favorite but who know? People vote funny sometimes

I nominate Marjan Lenarcic (L RSV) with 12 race wins , podium at Giro and TDF. You have to consider L RSV just had his comeback this year I think.

Fontaine without a doubt. Dominant all year. Won nearly every important race. Almost every time with one or more strong climbers as competition.

I nominate, but doubt will vote for: Emanuel Thirifays. 28 now, so his best days are still to come most likely but:

-2 stages at the Tour as a 23 year old. (One at 22 actually) Third place and the only one to challenge to 2 clear favorites, despite inferior skills.
-Vuelta, no stage, no podium, but 4th place. 20" back only. And it was Thirifays who put the race on fire with his action on stage 14.
-Won Lombardia, no idea how, not going to check, spent enough time checking the Vuelta. But IMO he did enough 2020 to deserve a nomination.
