RSF Rider of the year 2011

Post by Robyklebt » Thu Dec 01, 2011 4:25 pm

The traditional rider of the year vote.

Rules

Write down 5, not more and not less, riders in order. from 1-5. The riders that according to you where the best of the year 2011. How you define this is up to you.
If you want to give explanations, excellent, but please do it under the list, easier for Roko Keko to figure out the result.
If you want to change your list, edit your post, don't write a new one. Roko Keko doesn't want to check ah, user a, ah, he already had a post bla.
You want to comment, criticize whatever another persons list, go ahead.

Posts lists that don't have exactly 5 riders will be ignored, posters with 2 posts with lists, even if they mention "don't count the first one, this one is the one that is valid" will be ignored. Use edit.

All lists posted between now and dec 31 23.59 CET will be valid.

I start.... grr, no, Franconia was faster. Let's see if we manage to get 10 guys voting here this year, that would be a success.

1 Remo Pambele
2 Sueito Purnomo
3 Javier Cordero
4 Jinichi Nasawa
5 Ludvig Quist

Pambele won the 3 GTs and the Andes. Enough said. No, maybe not, easy groups maybe? There are almost no hard groups at RSF anymore. Now enough said. still not. He might win the dec. tour too.
Purnomo. Winner of 2 monumnts., Milano Sanremo and Liège Bastogne Liège. 2? 3 actually, Lombardia in 2010, that doesn't count directly, but makes the wins 2011 even more valuable. Then he won a stage at the Giro too. Of his "only" 7 wins in 2011, 3 absolute high quality wins. Enough for nr 2.
Cordero, 50 wins in 2011 I think. Beat Truebas record by 3 wins, would be much more if we took the categories into account. 5 TdF stages, lots of cat 4, Tirreno, Catalunya. Only 7 cat 1 wins in 2011, the rest higher. Only thing missing Milano Sanremo, with that he would have had a chance at the nr 1 spot. Without even behind Purnomo.. but might change, still thinking
Nasawa, TdF, Vuelta, Andes. 3rd Giro Like Pambele still active and going for nr 4 of the long tour wins, december. Plus he won Pais Vasco and Dauphiné too.
Quist: 32 wins in 2011, will probably add a few in december. More important than that though: the quality of the wins. Riders bought by Quick always deliver, even if he didn't win a single race for Quick, all for wookie, at least 75% of the wins is thanks to Quicks golden touch! :) Classic wins, Hamburg, San Sebastian the great canadian double with Montréal and Québéc, Züri Metzgete, semi classic Romagna too. Stages, Giro stage, then stage(s) in TdS and Tirreno.

Actually might still change it all... really difficult this year, there are x riders that deserve a mention that I couldn't bring in...

1. Remo Pambele

Won all three GTs, Andes... not much more to say.

2. Yago Rosi

22 race wins, 9 stages races, 4 points classements, 7 mountain classements. An incredible palmarés, not only in numbers: dominating the Vuelta (GC, MC, PC, 4 stages), the Tour (GC, MC, 3 stages), TdS (GC, PC, MC, 4 stages),

3. Javier Cordero

50 of his incredible 57 race wins in 2011, 10 points classements incl. the TdF. And won 6 stages races on the way.

4. Fabrizio Conti

The Fabulous. 28 race wins in 2011, MSR!, Bernocchi, Veneto, Prato. Points classement at the TdF. BUT: Did not ride the Giro!!!

5. Jinichi Nasawa

Not all three GTs, but Dauphiné, Tour, Burgos, Vuelta, Andes. Maybe Yemen?
I didn't mean to say it. But I meant what I said.

But you don't have enough class to vote? Because you would have to add 4 other guys? Is that what you are trying to say?

1) Morgan Mugabe - most impressive Giro win, even without a strong team as support and weaker skills than Nasawa or Pambele
2) Javier Cordero - winning all the time, setting the new record, but also more important races than Trueba
3) Jinichi Nasawa - in Giro still too young too win, Tour won after a hard fight, Vuelta and Andes without real competition, very likely also Yemen
4) Remo Pambele - obvious, why he's in the list, but not on top as with his skills and the strong team, it would have been a shame not to win something
5) Sueito Purnomo - after Lombardia last year, two more monuments this year

1 Cordero
2 Purnomo
3 Pambele
4 Schrödinger
5 Quist

Taking in account their "importance" in the rsf world and not only an addition of the wins.
Btw Purnomo started his reign before 2011. Cordero too i guess, but lasted longer this year.
Pambele and Quist have of course a nice palmares, but they have never been really fascinating a lot of people imo. At least not me :P
