Team Franconia wrote:There are enough members on the paper, but only 3,4 are checking regularly...the rest is looking every two, three weeks some names...hansa leads the comitee, so he probably should fire them and look for new guys

more than 3,4...

i check every 2-4 days, and i see franco,hansa,ruhr,aux,ol,benelux,leso,libby,quick...not everyone every time, but thats 10 members of the comitee that are checkeing on more or less regular basis(say at lest once a week...)

more active menbers welcome,i think...lets see what hansa thinks...

of course, everybody can use this thread here too,if finds "funny" names..

we once had also this list ,where comitee members where rebonsible for certain nations-we probably could use this model again...eg. have someone in the comitee who just is resbonsble for certain nations or regions(because we have someone here who is from that place or something like that)

For Belgium i see:

Silvios Proto (Bernstein) -----> is a real name but with a fout (http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silvio_Proto)
Gilbert Philippe (Hoegaarden Team) -----> of course we can say it's possible, but i don't like it verry much, if Gilbert Philippe ride versus Philippe Gilbert
Franc Prudhomme (Rasende Radler) -----> i never see "Franc" like this in Belgium. Does it exist?
Driies Devenyns (Energytaw) -----> never see Driies too, it's Dries. It's a real name with a fout too (http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dries_Devenyns)
Wills Weylands (TvShack) -----> "Wills" i never see like this...
Stinj Devolder (chetitoteam) -----> is a real name with a fout (http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stijn_Devolder)
JohanVan Summeren (SILENCE - LOTTO) -----> maybe beter "Johan VanSummeren"...
Woodla Colle (Rsc anderlecht) -----> i never see "Woodla".
Frank Vandinbroucke (DTS Crou) -----> is a real name with a fout (http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Vand ... (cycliste))
Brandon Sildrouyers (Team La Redoute) -----> "Sildrouyers" to imitate "Seeldrayers"? I never see Sildrouyers...

And i only check the 200 first belgian names. 10 wrong names for 200 riders: 5%! So maybe we need more members. But maybe i am wrong and it's okay like this.

That's okay Franconia. It's just my opinion about these names, but i think that the other Belgians can confirm. ;)

I just wanted to make one thing clear:
although it seems easy, always hard time trying to clarify all the names, if they are passable or not, for a given country!
All thanks to certain genes that have nothing better to do than invent a team per DAY, and put on the list 20-30 cyclists (Thanks, reset) a DAY.
Most of the time lost because of these people.
From the name of teams and cyclists, we can understand that they are always the same, but until 'the chef does not take provvedimnti will last' forever a life, and increases the errors!

Since there are a lot of riders created for a very short time or for inactive teams, maybe the names in active teams should be checked at first ?
For the others, you can still check them if the team becomes serious.

By the way, if you guys need help, I'm here :D

ok,the old belize story...

belize is one of the countries where a lot is possible when it comes to names...

small(22.966 km²) only a bit more than 300.000 people living there, but more than 6(!) different languages and even more ethnicities...

and they even have a cycling history there...

the cross country cycling race is happening pretty much every year since 1929 and there's also the tour of belize and the new years day cycling classic...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cross_Coun ... ng_Classic (we should hace that here on rsf once we have a solution for sterrato/dirt road-problem)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:C ... _in_Belize

here are some real names of real cyclists from real belize i found in the links above...

Donald Lightburn
Goldburn Ferguson (yep..."goldburn" als prename...)
Rudy Miguel
Alpheus Williams
Jose Sosa
Elston Kerr
Shane Vasquez
Collet Maheia
Orlando Chavarria
Leancy Gomez
Roque Matus
Robert Mossiah
Joslyn Chavarria
Kenrick Halliday
Eugene King
Anselm Ysaguirre
Colly Coffin
Clinton Castillo
Altreith Smith
Ben Sanchez
Hendicott Croft
Norris Wade
Lindsford Sutherland
Marlon Castillo
Ariel Rosado
Francisco Flores
Derrick Mahler

and this is just a little selection of riders from belize who could finish 1st or 2nd in one of the above mentioned races ...

petty much any english or spanish name is possible there plus a combination of these plus a wole lot of other unfamiliar sounding names or funny pre-names(goldburn? alpheus? hendicott? ^^)

edith just took a look at belizian football players, same story there-everything goes ^^

Deon McCauley
Denmark Casey
Dale Pelayo
Norman Nuñez
Vallan Symms
Aaron Nolberto
Christobal Gilharry
Elroy Kuylen
Kareem Haylock
Zico Quentin

..all real names,not kidding ;)

not from belize, but from mexico(winner of the 2008 new year's day cycling classic in belize): Moe(!) Herman Camacho (my favorite name of the day  )

I am just making a big document with the more frequent names for each country (in fact each country that i can find). It's a big job, but i see 2 possible applications:

- giving some ideas to the managers for the riders;
- helping the nation komitee a little.

But ok, big point is to help to give a new name, because i think the nation komitee can make it without this document (and of course they can see good names who are not in my document).

Is it possible that somehow there is a link somewhere to the old forum when a rider loses his nationality? Tell Buh to change it.

And check the newest complaint here anyway: Family Lopez in Liechtenstein.

ohne scheiss, gibt genau drei einträge im telefonbuch. die wohnen zwar in liechtenstein, sind aber spanier. noch konkreter kann man es wohl nicht belegen...

I demand to throw Goran Pandev (US Lecce) out off Serbia, as he is a real person, but not from Serbia in any way. He is macedonian.

There is no Macedonia in RSF. So why not Serbia?

because he is not serbian and so should neither be allowed to start in NC's, WC's and not spoil those lists of the nation. If there is no nation for a real person, it should not be used, because if we will once get that nation into RSF, the name is blocked (i hope actually those nationless riders will get erased somewhen). If other "real" persons should be forced to take there real nation, it should be the same for all of them. And if it's not part of RSF, than it has to be a 0. But too, i won't mind offering him to change the name. Otherwise, other real persons should have the right to chose their nation same free. And so all riders. Equal rights for all.

Ok, maybe you're right.

Another thing:

Laszlo Bodrogi - Team RSF. He is no longer Hungarian, since he swapped nationality one (two?) year ago to French. He competed in the French national time trial championship yesterday and will probably do so in the road race on sunday. Furthermore he will maybe even have a spot in the French team for the worlds championship this year. So he's totally french now.

even if the real laszlo bodrogi changed his nationality,i see no problems having a hungarian laszlo bodrogi here at rsf...

both "laszlo" and "bodrogi" are so typically hungarian, that i see no reason to make him french-especially because i think there's more than just one laszlo bodrogi in the real world...
