Surprise of the Year Award 2010

Post by Lizard » Thu Dec 02, 2010 7:19 pm

Surprise of the Year Award 2010
Every year the Radsportfreaks-Community finds together to decide which are the best of the best in our virtual cycling world. This year again, we honor the most surprising performance to have happened during the year. Which rider could land a critical hit with a victory no one ever has expected?

How to:
Each user may nominate 3 riders. The 10 being picked most are going to be implemented in the final voting.
Nominations: 01.12.2010-15.12.2010
Votings: 16.12.2010-30.12.2010
Formalities: Please only one post in this thread per user, if you would like to correct your nominations then use the EDIT-function. Apart from that please order your nominations from 1-3 and (if you'd like to) put a comment for why the rider deserves to win the award.

1 Jamie Bearclaw
2 Jonas Maurer
3 Jens Scholz

1: Bearclaw clear, with 82 mountain he won Lombardia, definetly a surprise, maybe not a huge one, it's an open race. But then he won the Tour du Jura as well, againt climbers that on paper seemed much much stronger

2: Maurer: Winner of the Giro del Piemonte. And it was a surprise for sure. But it's a bit as well for his other great result in October, Lombardia. Well, mini-Lombardia, was in group 2, so well, doesn't really count. Agree. Still, an 86 climber that has a 89 climber in his team wins Piemonte. A surprise for sure. Get's second in the Flèche Wallone (ok at the time still nr 1 in the team), gets second in Tre Valli Varesine, then wins the group 2 of Lombardia. Surprising for sure.

3: Won the Ballybofey Cycling Price

1. Timothee Lhotellerie
2. Jamie Bearclaw

But I think what did Tim is better .. Winning the Giro was a huge surprise
Petit Singe: Aix croit toujours qu'il sera important dans le real life, RSF bah, pas trop ambitieux, NoPik a compris que il n'aura jamais le succes qu'il peut avoir ici en real life, alors il donne tout pour RSF!

Why is there a smiley behind Jens Scholz in the Voting? I consider this a severe discrimination!

But I don't care as long as he has Flandern 2010 in his Palmares... as well as the race Roby mentioned

After watching a few threads with this strange mininetbook here I've come to the conclusion I've come to a 100 before already.

You are a bunch of idiots. Gamov winning the Giro a surprise??? 7 people are dumb. He was one of the 3, for people who know a bit more 2 favorites to win it. Same as Petit singe 2 in team of the year right now... morons. Top 20, yeah, top 10 maybe, good year, for sure, but nowhere near some of the others
