Training 12.4.2022:
Matteo Pavoni Berg: -1
Matteo Pavoni Abfahrt: -1
Matteo Pavoni Zeit: -1
Matteo Pavoni Sprint: -1
Kees VanDerVen Berg: -1
Kees VanDerVen Flach: -1
Kees VanDerVen Abfahrt: -1
Kees VanDerVen Zeit: -1
Loic Larrieu Abfahrt: -1
Brandon Semenuk Sprint: -1
Wil Ruprecht Berg: +1
Kay deWolf Flach: +1
Cas Valk Flach: +1
Pyry Juupalouma Flach: +1
Mads Korneliussen Berg: +1
Mads Korneliussen Flach: +1
Highs and lows

Matteo and Kees 4 times minus, especially Matteo mountain and Kees flat hurts a lot.

Wil 85mtn with 24, starting at 71 is amazing. Long time ago when a climber started to train like this from the beginning. Now everything is bonus.

Training 20.4.2022:
Johann Löffel Berg: -1
Johann Löffel Abfahrt: -1
Johann Löffel Zeit: -1
Johann Löffel Sprint: -1
Gorgonio Moretti Berg: -1
Gorgonio Moretti Abfahrt: -1
Francis Quaghebeur Zeit: -1
Tom Espariat Flach: -1
Moritz Gabel Flach: -1
Asier Basterretxea Abfahrt: +1
Archibald Short Berg: +1
Tim Bradman Flach: +1

Charles Drinkwater Flach: +1
Remmert Huizinga Berg: +1
Reinaldo Gamboa Berg: +1
Reinaldo Gamboa Sprint: +1
Raffaele Pecci Berg: +1
Raffaele Pecci Flach: +1
Löffel -4, keeps flat not the worst to keep
Moretti -2 loses mountain
Quaghebeur -1 TT
Espariat -1, flat
Gabel -1, flat

38-34 their age, so considering that it's a good training

+

Basterretxea!!!! Downhill. Better than nothing .
Short mountain, now at 60.
Bradman flat, now 84 flat and 82 8 Pavé, but PR being over it doesn't matter that much. Still, more=better. Some cat 1 pave race now his goal. Loses TT, good
Drinkwater flat, now 68-79.
Huizinga mountain, 69-79. He's overtaken Drinkwater.
Gamboa double 55-70 mountain sprint, coming along VERY nicely.
Pecci double too, more normal in his case, 50-73 now, 73.6 pave, can stop training mountain... but what should he train now???

Despite the usual Bieri, still a good training.

Training 20.4.2022:
Paul Poudrier Berg: -1
Gaspard Gagneux Sprint: -1
Thijs vantWout Flach: -1
Thijs vantWout Abfahrt: -1
Thijs vantWout Zeit: -1
Thijs vantWout Sprint: -1
Severin Savoie Abfahrt: -1
Aldo Abbiati Berg: +1
Pavlo Poulnikov Flach: +1
Oleksandr Outschakov Flach: +1
Oleksandr Outschakov Abfahrt: +1
16 riders in the team. Competition is high and things become brutal: VantWout and Savoie were told they can retire soon, so no surprise they are not motivated anymore!

Abbiati the positive surprise today. Training came very late in his career, but eventually, Vespa 74-78 and Abbiati 72-81 make a good classics combination. Very likely that they start at the Giro. Being Italian also helps there. Savoie seems out with 70-76 and downtraining. Then there should be Catteau and Faber, but the problem is they are not there. Catteau 68-80 at 25 years and Faber 68-79 at 24 years not very impressive. Seems unlikely that they go to the Giro at this point in time... but can afford to wait two more trainings before making decisions.

Similarly, our climbers Pagie and Lootens completely refuse to train recently... not sure if 85-59 and 80-63 will be enough to line up at the Giro. Might send a stage hunting team instead.

Last but not least, our very young Ukrainians. Poulnikov missing the double training at 21-years is the classic Gip training, welcome to the team :D But at least he misses mountain, not flat. Flat more important for his career. Outschakov flat and downhill is very good. Keep going like that, please.

Negative trainings better than last time. Just Sprint for Matteo hurts, but no difference in the end probably.

Too bad I told that I am happy about Wil. He stopped training immediately.

All positive trainings are high percentage. Looks ok for the young guys so far.

Training 27.4.2022:
Johann Löffel Berg: -1
Johann Löffel Flach: -1
Johann Löffel Abfahrt: -1
Johann Löffel Zeit: -1
Johann Löffel Sprint: -1
Gorgonio Moretti Flach: -1
Gorgonio Moretti Abfahrt: -1

Tom Espariat Berg: -1

Archibald Short Berg: +1
Tim Bradman Flach: +1
Remmert Huizinga Berg: +1
Amancio Carpinteiro Flach: +1
Reinaldo Gamboa Berg: +1
Reinaldo Gamboa Sprint: +1
Raffaele Pecci Flach: +1
Raffaele Pecci Zeit: +1
Löffel -5
Moretti -3 keeps mountain. He is holding up well at 37, still 58 mountain.
Quaghebeur mountain downhill down
Espariat mountain flat, not really good.

+
Short mountain, now 61-82
Bradman flat, 85 now. 83.5 pave, PR really came a month too early.
Huizinga mountain, 70-79, perfect mountain training, starting at 54. Outstanding.
Carpinteiro. 56-85 now, good flat again, now going for mountain.
Gamboa double again 76-87 or so the % left now. 8 up mountain and sprint in 2 seasons.
Pecci double, takes TT too.. just flat enough really.

So very very very good training. Short, Huizinga, Carpinteiro, Bradman, double Gamboa! Yes Bieri& Basterretxea, but at this point, who cares. Drinkwater only 1 of 4 mountain at 24, left behind by Huizinga who started 1 lower, up 2 now, Charles would have been nice. In May then.

Training 27.4.2022:
Paul Poudrier Abfahrt: -1
Paul Poudrier Zeit: -1
Paul Poudrier Sprint: -1
Gaspard Gagneux Berg: -1
Giacomo Gerbi Berg: +1
Casper Catteau Berg: +1
Florent Faber Berg: +1
Pavlo Poulnikov Berg: +1
Pavlo Poulnikov Flach: +1
Oleksandr Outschakov Flach: +1
Oleksandr Outschakov Abfahrt: +1
Gerbi 61-87, he is motivated for the Giro.

Catteau and Faber, up to 69-80 and 69-79... they want to make my Giro decisions difficult... and there is training on 5 May, too...

Poulnikov and Outschakov both double training, good.

So, Giro... we have booked rooms for...

- Vittore VESPA (LBL winner, Italian and trained well to 74-78)
- Aldo ABBIATI (Italian and trained well to 72-81)
- Giacomo GERBI (Italian and trained well to 61-87)
- Gaspard GAGNEUX (RVV winner and 55reg)
- Oleksandr OUTSCHAKOV (young, cheap and 57reg)
- Famara FAYE (cheap downhill hero)

damn, seems we should hire more Italians as they train well in our team? Remember Fabio Fonda 80-70 was also good training...

Anyway, 3 slots left... big question of course is Pagie/Lootens... 85-59/80-63... just not a very impressive duo as they refuse to train... which would be O.K. normally as we are used to riding with inferior climbers and in fact two climbers already give you more options than one... the problem is that I will also miss some stages, no matter whether I ride afternoon or evening,... so a Giro with inferior climbers would be ok.... missing some stages of Giro would be OK... but riding with inferior climbers AND missing stages is really not ideal...

what are the alternatives?
- Go cheap... take Poudrier, Poulnikov + Fischer, then we'll have fun attacking every day and it doesn't hurt as much to be offline some days
- Go sprint... take VVG + 2 helpers, would give us a chance on flat stages, even if 82 sprint is not perfect
- Go stage hunting... take Catteau, Faber + another helper, would give us many options to attack on hilly stages
- Other ideas? :D

Wilfried Nöbauer Abfahrt: -1
Wilfried Nöbauer Zeit: -1
Akos Detreköi Flach: -1
Geoffrey Hinton Berg: +1
Jakob Uexküll Berg: +1
Erich Tschermak Berg: +1
Helmut Heuser Berg: +1
Mouhamed Fall Berg: +1
Mouhamed Fall Flach: +1
Nikola Tesla Berg: +1
Nikola Tesla Sprint: +1
Good month
Tesla, 21, +4/+1 +4spr now 60-72 with 68 sprint, he will focus mainly in mountain now
Fall, 22, +1/+4 has 50-80 and will focus on becoming our next good flat rider
Heuser, 23, +4/+1 reaching 67-80 hopefully soon our next 70-80 classic, also has some sprint skills (57)
Tschermak, 24, +1 and a +1 in downhill covered, probably I am too much covering the side skills, just 68-77-78 still some possible trainings to take
Uexküll, 25, +3 mountain with 25 is superior, 65-71-77 very nice starting with 49 mountain

Faye, 26, nothing
Hinton, 28, +1 mountain now 57-82 with 78 sprint
Simony, 29, +1 flat now 50-83-79 doesnt really care as his reg + little flat/downhill makes him a brilliant stage race helper
Szabo, 29, nothing same as Simony
Oetker, 30 +1/+1 in mountain and flat, 81-72 with 59 sprint, wonderfull rider except for the downhill sieb danger
Trakhtenbrot, 31 nothin
Schötensack, 31, +1 flat very nice

Downs: Detreköi just starts losing flat before the Giro month, thats very bad, 71-80-81 still good but with the missing mountain he needs to stay strong

Training 27.4.2022:
Jago Geerts Berg: -1
Jago Geerts Abfahrt: -1
Wil Ruprecht Flach: +1
Kay deWolf Flach: +1
Edward Muggridge Flach: +1
Cas Valk Flach: +1
Pyry Juupalouma Berg: +1
Pyry Juupalouma Flach: +1
Mads Korneliussen Berg: +1
Mads Korneliussen Flach: +1
Jago still trains with 33!!! Just not as good as before. At least he did not lose flat skill. Most likely he will go to the Giro to end his career.

Wil flat is ok. Mountain will be lucky anyway... so let him get some flat power.

All others do what they have to do: High percentage trainings.

Ritzinger great, keeps mountain and flat.
Kohl is a little surprise with 30 years, Liivik goes on, that's good.
Rest as expected.

Remmert Huizinga Abfahrt: -1
Reinaldo Gamboa Berg: +1
Raffaele Pecci Flach: +1
Patrizio Rossi Berg: +1
Patrizio Rossi Flach: +1
Löffel in his last training the expected -5
Moretti at 38 -4, keeps flat
Quaghebeur at 37 -3, mountain and flat, still 84 is nice of course
Espariat losing flat, now 69-76, but he's 36 too
Gabel at 35 only losing TT, nice.
Baas overdoes it a bit, -3 but keeps flat. so still ok
+
Bradman flat, now 86 and 84.2 pavé... he came a month too late really... Maybe no Giro and ride for him in Tro Bro Leon?
Drinkwater + mountain, loses TT. 69-79-76-62-56 now. Will keep the small risk and not cover TT
Huizinga loses downhill, right now isn't covering either downhill or TT, will stay that way one more training.
Gamboa mountain, now 57 mountain, 71 sprint. Will keep 91-31 for the next training. Then maybe try it the other way around? Or change now?
Pecci 100% normal, 75 flat and pavé now.
Rossi double, 57-75

With Drinkwater and Bradman training I can't complain, good training.

Back to average training or bad training.

Darren and Twan start with negative trainings into Giro month. Unhappy with that.

Only high % positive trainings. Brage really not deserves to be called classic rider.

All ok, good

+
Short up mountain, nice, 62-82 now
Drinkwater too, now 70-79 like Huizinga
Gamboa with the training change takes the sprint. 72 now
Pecci flat
Rossi double

With Short and Drinkwater, that's a good training.

Paul Poudrier Sprint: -1
Gaspard Gagneux Berg: -1

Gaspard Gagneux Abfahrt: -1
Gaspard Gagneux Sprint: -1
Aldo Abbiati Berg: +1
Felix Fischer Flach: +1
Pavlo Poulnikov Flach: +1
Oleksandr Outschakov Flach: +1

Downtraining for Poudrier and Gagneux expected. A bit too much for Gagneux, but OK, he is a legend anyway.

Abbiati really the late training guy! Positive surprise! He went from 71-79 (?) to 73-81 at age 31/32. Old but gold! Fischer flat training also a nice little surprise.

Poulnikov and Outschakov, 22-years old, no double training, but at least they continue flat!

So all acceptable, just the typical problem that our climbers do not train at all. Pagie and Lootens... lazy as fuck... should have stayed at home. Seems the Giro is too big for them.

Johannes Lamparter Berg: +1
Tim Merlier Berg: +1

Philipp Orter Berg: +1
  • Ritzinger everything as expected, at least he keeps downhill.
  • Skoglund great! Only looses TT
  • Hirvonen maybe won't ride for us again, so don't care
  • Liivik no mountain, but flat! So 68/83 with 24 years - now mountain would be great
  • Merlier, Orter, Fettner and Lamparter as expected
We take it!

Schwacki still keeps TT, he really wanted to start at the Giro to win 2 stages, should really have considered taking him in exchange for Tschermak. 2 easy stage wins in exchange to a bit weakened classics lineup.

Heuser nice, already 69-80 now. Tesla expected

Jago Geerts Sprint: -1

Pyry Juupalouma Flach: +1
Mads Korneliussen Flach: +1
Mikael Persson Berg: +1
Mikael Persson Flach: +1
Jesper Börjesson Berg: +1
Jesper Börjesson Flach: +1
Jago loses sprint - not so important
Twan loses mountain - dissapointing, but sprint would have hurt more
Joel +1 sprint - good as he has to be the money sprinter when Twan retires soon
Brage - what a shit show... he trains from 55mtn to 67 only but loses skills where he can. even 1.84mio was too much for this classic
All others - 100% trainings

Then there are some lazy riders who did not train with around 50 and up to 70%. Next training has to be better!

Amancio Carpinteiro Berg: +1
Reinaldo Gamboa Berg: +1
Reinaldo Gamboa Sprint: +1
Raffaele Pecci Flach: +1
Raffaele Pecci Zeit: +1
Patrizio Rossi Berg: +1
Patrizio Rossi Flach: +1
Moretti, Quaghebeur, -4, -3. Both keep flat
Espariat weakening further, mountain.
Gabel: Downhill and sprint. 84 now, vs 89 Marxer 85 seemed the minimum. Now... Argh.
Baas TT and sprint no problem

+
Bradman minus, downhill. Ok
Carpinteiro mountain, good 57-85 now
Lucky Gamboa double now 58 mountain 73 sprint.
Pecci with an unwanted double, just flat, man...But wasting percenteges hurts, so put the rest on TT.
Rossi double nice.

With Carpinteiro and Gamboa still nice, even if a classic would be nicer.

Akos Detreköi Abfahrt: -1
Akos Detreköi Sprint: -1
Moustapha Faye Flach: +1
Jakob Uexküll Berg: +1
Mouhamed Fall Flach: +1
Nikola Tesla Berg: +1
Uff Detreköi losing Mountain, Downhill and Sprint hurts for the upcoming GIRO stages, still my best classic 70-80-80-50-60,
Nöbauer losing flat, just 85 now, Faye the next 86 flat rider good
Uexküll 67-71-77 now very well, he will become our bast classic most likely, not bad starting with 49 mnt
Tesla still taking mnt but not the sprint I was risking mnt for, so last training go for 100%

Training 20.5.2022:
Jago Geerts Berg: -1
Twan VanGendt Abfahrt: -1
Darren Berrecloth Flach: -1
Darren Berrecloth Abfahrt: -1
Wil Ruprecht Flach: +1
Kay deWolf Flach: +1
Cas Valk Flach: +1
Pyry Juupalouma Flach: +1
Mads Korneliussen Flach: +1
Mikael Persson Berg: +1
Mikael Persson Flach: +1
Jesper Börjesson Berg: +1
Jesper Börjesson Flach: +1
Normal training for me. Minus some good and bad. Plus high percentage and no big improvement.

Minus:
Jago: Mtn is bad because he is my best helper in hilly terrain at the Giro... but also good as he keeps flat
Darren: He downstrains faster then up. Will be sold when he is 34.
Twan: Downhill kills just the average but keeps his chances alive to stay in the team longer.

Plus:
Wil: Flat, better than nothing, but mtn for sure more important. for Giro not really, so no big deal he stays at 85.
Kay: takes around 50% flat, thats good
Cas: takes 70% flat, good
Pyry: flat 100%
Mads: flat 100%
Mikael: 99/100% mtn/flat
Jesper: 100/100 mtn/flat

Not listed:
Brage: will be sold the day he gets 34. nether deserved the name classic
Edward: Should take some more flat actually, 80 flat was the goal, stays at 74, 10/15 so far

Charles Drinkwater Sprint: -1
Amancio Carpinteiro Berg: +1
Amancio Carpinteiro Zeit: -1
Raffaele Pecci Flach: +1
Patrizio Rossi Berg: +1
Guillaume Payot Berg: +1
Moretti full program
Quaghebeur keeps sprint
Espariat loses only mountain at 37, very good
Gabel loses mountain and flat at 36, loses 2, all just under 50%, so fine.
Baas mountain gone at 35, only 1 lost, good as well.
Lambert sprint gone, he wont' miss it, no problem

+
Starts with a minus, Drinkwater sprint now down to 55, where it will stay.
Carpinteiro gains mountain, good, loses time, less good, but maybe he doesn't need that anyway. Any important TTT coming anywhere?
Pecci flat, good, all we want from him.
Rossi mountain, 95-45
Payot no mountain risk, so 100-68, only mountain. Let's hope for 3 flats too now.. but won't take the first training 96% risk, so won't complain.

Still not a great training, nothing really sensational happening. Carpinteiro mountain, 40% now the best thing really.

Stupid me testing around with Heusers settings and forgot to set back to flat to cover, now instead of cover flat, he double covered sprint, grrr, so +1 mnt, -1 flt
Tesla double perfect, Celsius expected, Uexküll is really impressive, instead of a pseudo 60-80 he became a pseudo 70-80
