TTT Money Reform

Post by flockmastoR » Fri Dec 16, 2022 4:50 pm

Hello guys,

I was wondering since a long time, if the Money/Points given in TTT is fair. As I have no clue about the actual numbers, it is hard to compare a new proposal to the current calculation. I am not the only one wondering about it, see

Hello,
Just wanted to comment, are not TTT prizes a bit low?
In a non-TTT races, with same category and number of teams, are given almost 300.000 money between all riders, and in TTT not even 150.000
Can also be seen in the numbers of teams interested in riding a TTT, very low usually, most teams even switch from their favorite time to ride the "real" race. If you are not trying to find your perfect setup, it is absolutely worthless to ride a TTT that you have no chance to win, and it is usually easy to see if you can regarding the opponents. Additionally, you pay a lot of salary for the TT strong riders (which is ok) but they are often limited to just 5-7 riders, so filling up the team with the cheap guys cannot be done in such races.

My proposal
Winning team gets the money and points of a normal stage for place 1, 11, 21, 31 (150,900 Credits, 120 Points)
Second team gets the money and points of a normal stage for place 2,12,22,32 (98,800, 78)
Third team gets the money and points of a normal stage for place 3, 13, 23, 33 (76700, 60)
...
10th team gets the money and points of a normal stage for place 10, 20, 30, 40(34,100, 25)

As it always has to be rider based I base it on the 5 riders that have to be together in the end. So a rider of the winning team (if he finished with the team) gets 24 points and is worth 30,180 credits. The more riders the team manages to stay together, the more money (actually, I have no clue if the dropped riders also get money currently, can probably check later), the more riders in the race, the more potential money if your team is balanced. Main goal was fair payment for the riders. Points are based on a table I have with winning rider getting 120k and 40th rider getting 100, no clue what category this represents but the concept can be applied to the "real" numbers and should work accordingly. Numbers from my table would be (always per rider)

1. 30,180 Credits, 24 Points
2. 19,760 Credits, 15.6 Points
3. 15,340 Credits, 12 Points
4. 12,920 Credits, 10 Points
5. 11,500 Credits, 8.8 Points
6. 10,080 Credits, 8 Points
7. 9,260 Credits, 7.2 Points
8. 8,440 Credits, 6.4 Points
9. 7,620 Credits, 5.8 Points
10. 6,820 Credits, 5 Points
Boaz Trakhtenbrot:
  • Winner Giro 2022
  • 10 GC wins
  • 16.609 Eternal Points
