dirt road "Naturstrasse" "sterrato"

Post by Robyklebt » Thu Feb 25, 2010 2:33 pm

Another one of my favorite topics....

2010 we will have:

Monte Paschi eroica
Tro Bon Leon
3 Giro stages

with unpaved sections.

Monte Paschi and Tro Bon will be in the calendar every year, at the Giro thanks to the megalomaniac asshole Zomegnan we probably will have a start on dirt roads in Afghanistan in 2015... or a Sahara-crossing... and even if he comes to his senses (or gets fired, let's hope it happens soon) the Finestre will come back in the next years anyway.

Sterrato is there to stay.

And Pavé is just not the same.
Pavé at RSF: favors good flat skill. When it's flat, that's no problem, the problem is there when there are long climbs. Finestre with ** pavé? Horrible, a Branco would probably end up as one of the best climbers of all. We already saw the effect a bit on the Death Road in the Andes in 08, with some classic riders that were irreallistically strong there. So either ignore the dirt roads on long climbs or add another "terrain" for RSF

How:

just make "dirt roads" in the races, not a new skill.

Not like Pavé with 1-5*, different difficulties, just one is enough. The skill that counts on the dirt road is the same that would count if it was paved. So if it's flat, 0, it's just the flat skill that counts. But it makes it more selective, so while now a 78 can follow a 90 that attacks, on a dirt road that wouldn't be possible. And if the 90 flat now gains 3" (just an example" to a 80, then it would be 4" or 5". And it would be "siebable". On +5 the mix flat-mountain would count as now, but again, more selective. On a +7 like now mountain, but makes it tougher, if maybe a rider now just manages to follow then he wouldn't, if a 90 mountain now gains 2" on another rider then it would be more, 3" or 4". Downhill the same. Just the relevant skill for the % counts, but is more selective than on a normal road. Effect maybe similar to 2* pavé now, to give a general idea of how the effect should be, but of course WITHOUT the influence of the pavé skill itself.

And the effect should become greater (bigger?) if it rains. Good weather, selective, but not too selective. light rain, more, heavy rain, very selective.
Another example:
0 dirt road
90 makes tempo:
Dry: 85 follwos
Light rain: 87 follows
Heavy rain: 89 follows

Something like that (would be a good idea for pavé as well btw, a * becomes a ** in the rain)

Of course for Monte paschi it's probably too late, but for Tro Bon Leon it should be possible to introduce something like that. But of course I've mentioned that already often enough, wouldn't have been a problem for Monte Paschi either...

I hope your example is meant to be an attack and not just pushing...

In general, i agree that there is a difference worth considering in those races. And like last time, if generally added to stage editor, i fear it will be used way to often in Fantasy-Races, where those roads should either not be taken or be ignored and set like normal roads. So still i would like it just to be allowed for real races.

I know.

But since I think it's worth the trouble (yours of course) I'll keep posting it regularly.

2011 or 20122 Finestre with Pavé? :o

And what did Mister Klebt see today when he clicked on a link. (NO, not naked women, that was another link....)

Something we never see and who can be fun is to explode the peloton with the wind (borders is the right word in english?), like Saxo Banc or some other real teams can make.

I really think it can add something, specialy for the tours. It can be little gaps, don't need 1'00" for each border. But we need a new skill for this, and to explode the group i think we need an hard wind! (and impossible with only 1 or 2 riders in tempo?)

And the effect should become greater (bigger?) if it rains. Good weather, selective, but not too selective. light rain, more, heavy rain, very selective.
And the wind !!!
We maybe can cross the rain and the wind to do a "scale of selection"

In my opinion, we really need dirt roads. For races of the real calendar of course, and for fantasy races, because it opens a lot of new possibilities.
The idea of Roby is good, no new skill, just a new scale.

An other idea,
But we can imagine a new skill.
Differents ideas for that :

1°/ A real new skill : dirt road
- A skill for a 21y rider, training by a combination of different skills (to determine)
- An independant skill, with his training : ok stupid.
- A bonus (scale of 1-5) to ameliorate the the flat skill during these dirt roads (if we follow the roby's idea)

2°/ An other new skill, for a biggest reform : Resistance (my favorite idea, to develop and discuss)

 A skill for each 21years old rider !
 Why not the idea of the scale 1-5 (or a classic value, a big number) !
 Why not hidden for the others teams !
 A resistence value that influences differents parameters of the action on RSF :
- Dirt Road, of course (we need to include the Roby idea for that ^^)
- Following the attacks on hard "terrains" : moutain >6% / pavés / Downhill >-10% / Dirt Road
- Lose of energy depending the weather
- Taking the wheels in a sprint ?

The advantages of this new skill :
- a new suspense (and strategy) in RSF, with this hidden value. And the tacticals changes induced. Novelty is excellent to continue to be excited about the game !
- a new kind of races (dirt road)
- a possibilty to adjust the problems in many actions of RSF that we talk about a long time : Following the attacks, losing of energy, (flat value), the wheels, dirt and pavé roads selection ... I don't know the mathematicals problems ... but I think adjustment of all of that with a value is maybe possible ...

If you have other potentiels benefits in mind ... :)
And, give me the disadvantages, because I don't want to continue to write and do a post in a RobySize.

Opinions and improvements are welcome, of couse. Necessary, of course.

the 2011 season is started!
also the first stage of San Luis showed partial sections of sterrato.
these areas have proved decisive in part because, causing falls, and the dismantling of the group ... Basso, for example, came with 38 seconds delay...

will remain 'in RSF's all the same?

From what I know the field broke apart at the first San Luis stage because there were strong crosswinds.

But anyway:

Pro-positionning in the peloton (or another solution to break the group on a flat road). Wind is much more important than dirtroads. (more races are concerned).
Which means, "everything" should be changed. Which actually means "nothing", I know.
Have a nice day :)

If you mean 2012 AD, unlikely, if you mean RSF 2012, so in 2006 years... some chances I guess.

Monte paschi 2012 is approaching, Giro 2012 too
last year 1 stage, this year was 3 stage with sterrato...
if we can enough Zomegnan, 2012 would give 3 stage too with dirty road at Giro
race with sterrato are ever more, i believe, is the time to work on this value joined ;)

Ok, we have more time for Sterrato asked.
We have anyway to wait before Buhmann find the time to insert this value.

To help Buhmann , i think, we can speak about the specifies of this value, and maybe also for little change in pave value, like an Fail factor, due to rain or snow, for example, or others!

I would like, for example, an risk factor, like Crono, that in association with tempo , ability and weather to incident or simple lost of time follow can.
