Stage 18

Light rain today, only 18°, with wind it feels cold again - half of the peloton will be wearing tights again.
Who didn't start with tights were Guerrero, Soler (related to Sun) and Kilkenny. These three started cycling from the first km. The peloton gave them a lead of about 20 minutes. At this point they allowed themselves a Kilkenny in the escape group, Soler beamed like the sun.

Apart from Wango, nobody has GC ambitions anymore and so only half-hearted Siebs and attacks come. Then the first mountain came and the peloton got a little faster. Cesar "The Obstructionist" apparently still had ambitions to help shape the GC. They tried to get rid of Wango - in the end Cesar was only able to gain 1min on Wango. Scott "Sleepwalker" Shinnie fought today and stayed 3rd.

In the top group, Anton "El Sol" Soler was lost on the 2nd mountain, maybe a Kilkenny too many :-) In the end, Claudio "The Warrior" Guerrero didn't sprint at all and left the victory to Ciaran "The Saint" Kilkenny (Kilkenny in Irish: Cill Chainnigh , which means: Church of Canisius).

Hope to see you tomorrow

stage 19
today a relatively short stage with a hilly profile, ideal for a GC attack or a podium finish.

First a group with Kelme and Schartner went out. Furpach was immediately up to speed with a rider and nipped the chance of going through right at the start.

From km 25 the Schartners got the call to action over the radio. Bang, bang - Sieb - and 3 Furpachs lost contact with Wango. While the podium favorites slept, Schartner's riders kept the 3 Furpachs at a distance of 1 minute. It was clear that the Schartners would keep up the pace until the second ride on the Puerto del Pielago. I think he thought he would get help then. But all day nothing was heard from the manager of the Joyriders and only stammered from the manager of the Alkis over the radio. So the Schartners had to do it alone.
Bang, bang - second Sieb - and Wango lost control and falls out of the group around Manrique. But still no cooperation with the Schartners. Cesar doesn't have the nickname "The Obstructionist" for nothing.
Mik and Sid were able to keep a 1 minute gap to Wango downhill when suddenly the Joyriders tore off their tights and pedaled hard. All the Schartners' work for a better podium, for the fish? The Joyriders controlled. 7km before the finish, Kyösti attacks, but that goes haywire, everyone hangs. Only Kelleher and Ziegler's attack is so strong that the group gets away with Manrique and Norhadian. Cesar "The Obstructionist" attacks and wins. Second Caoimhin "the lovely one" Kelleher (Irish: caomh=beautiful, pleasant; Old Irish: coim=lovely, pleasant) was able to make up 50 seconds for the podium and is now third in GC, 15sec in front of "Looselips" Kyösti, 37sec in front of Abel and a lead of 1:20min on Herman "the whalehunter". Wango lost only 50sec on Manrique.
Wango P1 and Manrique P2 can no longer be caught with the previous riding style.

Stage 21

Oh god the morning guys. After Le Tour we have the next „one hit wonder“ its Wango from Furpach - I mean alle Achtung he did a perfect job. The clueless press told that one week ago.
The two GT winners from Le Tour not on podium.
2nd Cesar „the obstructionist“ Manrique.
3rd Caoimhin „the lovely one“ Kelleher.
Two classic riders. What else should we write about that Vuelta 2022?
Its over, thats good.
See you next tour again.

You guys have been wonderful for the specators. Morning madness at it's best! Jokes aside, congrats to Wango. Even though it was suppported by the behaviour of the "on paper" GC favourites, it's a huge accomplishement to do it. But please consider to add insults next time. Just for entertainment purposes. Otherwise this edition is hard to top ;).
I didn't mean to say it. But I meant what I said.

Of course that's great for the morning teams if we could entertain you. :-)
