Giro 10am

Post by CircleCycle » Fri May 06, 2016 12:14 pm

Only Giro with no thread - so lets start one.

CC here with a 560k team - trying to get some stages and have fun.

1 Jack Beauregard - Nobody was faster on the draw
2 Nathan Jessup - The colonel
3 Pepito Sbazzeguti - the GC-guy
4 Fortunatus Wurzel - the flat guy
5 Krunoslav Cvitanovic - the expensive guy
6 Hans Kolleritsch - the sprint guy
7 Sigismund Stockhofer - the flat-tt guy
8 Elshan Khaghani - the 2nd flat-tt guy
9 Franz Oberhauser - the pure tt guy

The Prolog TT was an easy win for old Oberhauser, as he was the only real TT guy. Good to see more than 10 teams and hopefully there will be a good fight for GC.
Not able to do a favo check due to lack of experience ;-)

The first two stages are completed. Aldo Verdi from Stracke the new leader after Oberhauser get dropped.

In the GC it's really hard to say who's the favorit because i dont know some teams and other teams are really often Offline (Sierra, Warsaw). But when these teams are online they should have a good chance to win it. Therefore they are on top in my check. But I have to say it's really open here, what is a good thing....could be a really exciting Giro.

GC:

***** Pedro Cuellar (Sierra de Madrid)
**** Szmyzek Junior (WarsawCyclingTeam)
*** Jack Beauregard (CircleCycling), Danut Constantin (zizou)
** Berto Firendi (Bianchi Pro Team), Capitano Sky (sky bluteam)
* Borut Pahor (agriitubel), ErnstAugust Rickli (Rasmussen), Marcel Durand (loup racing)

As we have seen today, it is difficult for the sprinters. Why I type in the points classification is not necessarily on the Sprinter. Maybe a classic rider with good sprint wins the points jersey. But I dont know really....let's see.

Points:
***** Remus Lungu (zizou)
**** Arturo Kinch (SV Fuhrpach), Robbie Wood (loup racing)
*** Geir Sveinsson (SV Fuhrpach), Hans Kolleritsch (CircleCycling), Florian Margreiter (loup racing)
** Josef Sels (Bianchi Pro Team)

As usual the morning giro riders write not much in the forum. :(

The first two flat stages ended in a sprint and there were four teams (BMX, Circle, loup and Bianchi) which made tempo in the peloton. This indicates that probably the most flat stages will end in a bunch sprint. At least if these four continue to work togehter. That means my predictions for the Points jersey has to be adapted maybe...under these circumstances I would tip Kolleritsch, Margreiter or Kinch for the Points Jersey.

At tomorrow's stage it will probably be a new leader. Lungu and Wilson have the best chance to take the jersey from Stracke.

Let's see if the teams with sprinters will cooperate so well in the next flat stages.
And also interesting to see what happens in middlemountain stages like today, when Furpach sends Kinch in escape to catch a few points. GC wise still no clue, but noticed that Berto Firendi lost already a lot of time on the first flat stage.
Mountain jersey is really open, as there are just few points to get in this first stages. I hope that there will be a nice fight.

A second restday today because of a server problem it seems. :(

The first mountain stage brought no big time gaps among the favorites. Only Junior from Warsaw lost some seconds while the others all finished together. So we have to wait until the ITT for more structure in the general classification. But I think until the first real mountain stages there wont be clear who's actually the real favorite on the victory.

Circle showed yesterday with his chasing of Nery Brenes that he believes he can win the giro...so maybe he's the favorite? Hard to say.

And now I hope that we can play the stage. :D

Of course I believe I can win it. Otherwise I wouldn't ride at all.
Any ideas what to do with the stage today? Time on weekend is limited, and I don't want to start this stage with 1h delay or more.

Good point. But when you chased once everybody will look at you if there's a similar situation in the next days.

Dont know. Let's wait a little bit...Dont think it will work soon, so we may cancel the stage. Although I would like to ride the stage. Then we have also a problem with the regeneration....because maybe not every time trialst is today on 1000 because he tought he can ride the stage and gets another Reg.

That's a good idea if technically possible. The other teams in our race seem to have no opinion. :D

GC-Standing after the TT

1.Szymek Junior 00:00
2.Nery Brenes 00:40
3.Remus Lungu 01:14
4.Whayne Wilson 02:14
5.Capitano Sky 02:16
6.Jack Beauregard 02:30
7.Nathan Jessup 02:59
8.Pedro Cuellar 03:09
9.Migas Rodrigues 03:30
10.ErnstAugust Rikli 03:51
11.Berto Firendi 03:54
12.Borut Pahor 04:00
13.Danut Constantin 04:13
14.Zenan Begu 04:27
15.Laurent Dufaux 04:27
16.Tony Ziege 04:48

Zizou left during TT and didn't adjust his settings (I assume), so he lost quite some time against the others.

When we just considering the captains (except Jessup and Begu who can play also a role amybe) from the teams without Brenes, Wilson or Lungu who will lose time in the mountains the GC looks like this after the ITT. 10 of these 11 guys should finish in the Top 10. Pahor the biggest questionmark because he's always Offline.

Junior from Warsaw leads 2:16 over Capitano Sky and 2:30 over Beauregard.Beauregard is now the clear favorit with 39 seconds advantage over Cuellar and already more than a minute on Firende, Rickli or Constantin. Junior and Sky will surely be beaten by Beauregard considering the helpers and the rare Online times. Junior will also have a big problem with the reg when consecutive mountain stages are coming. So at the moment I would say Beauregard wins the giro.

1. 00:00:00 Szymek Junior (WarsawCyclingTeam)
2. 00:02:16 Capitano Sky (sky bluteam)
3. 00:02:30 Jack Beauregard (CircleCycle)
4. 00:02:59 Nathan Jessup (CircleCycle)
5. 00:03:09 Pedro Cuellar (Sierra de Madrid)
6. 00:03:51 ErnstAugust Rickli (Rasmussen)
7. 00:03:54 Berto Firendi (Bianchi Pro Team)
8. 00:04:00 Borut Pahor (Agriitubel)
9. 00:04:13 Danut Constantin (zizou)
10. 00:04:27 Zenan Begu (zizou)
11. 00:04:48 Tony Ziege (BMX Bycicle)

The white jersey is now on Wilsons shoulders. In the big mountains he will lose too much time on Dufaux and Ziege. In the end Ziege should have no problem to win it because Dufaux most likely has to help Rickli and so can't fight for white.

1. 00:00:00 Whayne Wilson (SV Fuhrpach)
2. 00:02:13 Laurent Dufaux (Rasmussen)
3. 00:02:34 Tony Ziege (BMX Bycicle)

Got the time vs. Szymek quite easy in the last 2 stages. Okay, he has no classic rider in the lineup and today Pepito could do quite some damage, when Szymek couldn't follow the attack of Nathan and Jack at the mountain.
So gc now looks like this...

00:00:00 Jack Beauregard
00:00:12 Szymek Junior
00:00:35 Pedro Cuellar
00:00:49 Nathan Jessup
00:00:55 Nery Brenes
00:01:36 Ernst August Rikli
00:01:48 Danut Constantin
00:02:02 Berto Firendi
00:02:06 Zenan Begu
00:02:17 Capitano Sky

Will be very, very difficult for Jack, despite the little timeadvantage he has now...

It was very difficult for Jack, but in the end he managed to be 10" in front of Berto Firendi. In the deciding stage, the attack of Berto came maybe too late and so Jack could save this few seconds.
Very happy :)
btw... almost the whole team had Form for California so 100% around 17.05. and of course not for the end. Therefore also the aggressive riding in the beginning of the Giro and thats why Jack's attacks where so strong in the first hilly/mountainous stages...

gw to all the other jersey winners, stage winners, podium etc etc.
