Vlaanderen 2010

Post by Cerro Torre RT » Sun Feb 21, 2010 5:10 pm

On Saturday, the season really starts. With Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, the first belgian Classic race is on the line. The best time of cycling season is close begin.

And well, looking foward to Het Nieuwsblad (am i allowed to call it Het Volk? I'm much more used to that), there's only one thing that tells everything about my lineup: The co-captain will be just 21 years in age. For the weekend races lineups are planned like that:

Het Nieusss ahh what so ever:

David Silva
Diniyar Bilyaletdinov
Siarhei Harbok
Aron Palmarsson
Julen Aguinagalde
Alberto Entrerrios
Ion Belaustegui
Ricard Rubio Vives
Natko Zrncic Dim

Kuurne-Brüssel-Kuurne

David Silva
Diniyar Bilyaletdinov
Siarhei Harbok
Aron Palmarsson
Julen Aguinagalde
Alberto Entrerrios
Ricard Rubio Vives
Ion Belaustegui
Radomir Antic

First problem to be obvious: Just one change, it will surely need many more as many of them can never come out Het Volk to start Kuurne as well. So probably Rajkovic and Vicente may have a chance to get into the team at Sunday. Second problem to be obvious: a huge lack of quality of the riders. Nearly none of them is appropriate to this kind of races or experienced enough. Disgracing races have to be expected.

Nevertheless, i am not willing to let that take away my anticipation of hopefully good and exciting races. Times when to start are completly open, but morning is not very probable due to wathing Olympia till late in the night, and evening will be tried to be avoided because of Olympia as well. Afternoon may be the best guess for both.

Team Franconia is also looking forward to the next weekend. Langendries will test himself for the Ronde at Saturday. Muchacho/Gekas will help as good as possible. Sundays Line-Up depends on how many fresh riders are available - Muchacho or even a Sprinter could be capitain. One thing is for sure, both days will be expensive.

As first to races have been the expected debacle, where the team was far away from interfering to the decision, we just hope it may get better at Wednesday, when Nokere Koerse takes place. But for real, not a bit more than a slight hope, I expact to go on like the whole time this spring season, having nothing to do with the results.

wow, big improvement yesterday... at least i was some kind of involved in the decision of the race... well, fantastic. Thinking of i will probably have to leave out the Ronde, this may get the worst spring season of all times, including the 2006.

Dwars door Vlaanderen, the next desaster that follows. Can somebody give me at least some confidence in telling me of what can i hope for? Rigth now, I'm thinking of retiring anothe time.

Don't know exactly what happened. But my spontaneous thought is this:

You've been blessed with extraordinary luck in training in he past. Incredible combinations of high valued rider skills came out of your production. Again and again. Now you experience a phase of missing the training results, you got used to. But this is just nothing more, than many other managers have to handle with continuously. Maybe you should lower your expectations. Having fun with simply beeing at the start; waiting for your chance, that may not appear in every race. That's another side of the sport. It's not always only all about being one of the possible race winners. Learn your lesson from it. Adapt to it.

Well Luna, i do like that since the end of automn season 2008. Since Stefansson und Ylianttila left, i never again had a rider that could be considered to be a favorite. But in oposite to now, i was able to take wins at spring season 2009 and fought for the win in many more races. And i consider that to be a problem of me, just riding bad, and not of my riders, that are not that much weaker than last year.

Perhaps you´re just a bit more unlucky this year.

When you don´t have the favorite rider or a very strong team, you have to hope, that there will be a chance. For example a dreaming favo...
Yesterday wasn´t a desaster, you went well, but in the end there were better ones left.

A view on my team:
Second win in 3 flandrian races. I´m still pretty pissed on, because of field 2 in Nokere...but ok, that´s the past.
Now i´m looking forward to a nice weekend, but i won´t have the real big chances there i guess.

Ronde on the easter sunday...that´s not good, hope i have the time to ride there...

It was really my best race since 2 months, and i am happy with the race that was very interesting and with my performance that was good only with little mistakes. But i am for sure not happy about the result. Losing that close will never please me, bad luck or not. Worst thing with it are the palmares of Silva right now, only one loosing entry and no victories. His skills are not that bad i think, so obvisoulsy i am, not beeing able to get him any win.

So it was far away from the desaster i was used to, but equal far away of what i am looking for.
