Tour of Yemen 15h

Post by Robyklebt » Tue Nov 29, 2011 12:51 pm

Greatest fantasy tour ever designed. Unfortunately realized I have no team for it really... still going to participate and dominate at 15h

The team:

A mystery.

Fix:

- Omar Fahrny: Leader and Andes winner, Star and GC man
- Markus Leibundgut: The new flat master. Nobody really knows what the team needs a flat master for nowadays, but he is the flat master
- Frederic Montandon: Keeps his old role as vice-flat master, before it was when Bakhtiyar had a bad day, never happened, now it will be when Kusi has one. Although again, what for?
- Titus Olteanu: A brillant 60-80, with reg. Always useful. And if not it's still nice to have one .

4 fix riders, the rest is open.

- Alighieri: For some sprinting money.... but the medium mountain stages too hard for him anyway...unlikely
- Conti: A last attempt to get win nr 33? 4 sure sprints 2 likely ones... but he'll probably be nr 10 of the sprinters in the group. We'll see
- Gong: Bring some reg to the team, always nice. not very useful, but no leader that needs useful riders anyway somehow. Can escape. We'll see
- Haryono: 60-80 without reg, but what for really? We'll see
- Mattarozzi: Nr 2 support Omar. But is it worth it? No clue. We'll see
- Mori: Flat power with reg, good for hopeless escapes. Good for gruppetto work . We'll see
- Sagyrbayuly: Only there if Conti goes, and even then not sure. As the real flat master it would be a shame seeing him relegated to nr 3 or so. Plus no reg, what's his use actually? Unlikely
- Todea: Support for Fahrny, see if he can do something in middle mountains, although likely not strong enough either. But either him or Mattarozzi will be there. Or both.
- Uchigasaki: Or Uchigasaki? Again, stage wins unlikely, but sprint money... still 62. Can't help with tempo, but can load. We'll see
- Urganov: Or him as nr 2? But he plans to retire anyway... so? We'll see. But unlikely
- Wei: Like Haryono, like the rider, but what can he do in Yemen? We'll see
- Yrjönpoika. Money in sprints. Nothing more. Worth bringing him. Very likely he'll be there, but not sure, depends a bit on Conti too.

Sure not to be there:

- Duculescu: Like him, he makes no sense at all, so easy decision. He'll likely retire even before the tour starts.

Hope i can start here too ... but i need some days a sitter (hope kaju start in the evening .-)

line up follow later, if i really start here, but its really difficult, need a Huber it seems.

Eddy for sure, the rest is vacant ...

I don't know, if Freddy Jahn or Hansen make sense to start here ... Eddy + both riders are very expensive
but i have to decide it until tomorrow i think for the form ... mmmh

maybe maybe with a team around a new sprinter or something like that, maybe Gauß wants to ride this tour as leader, maybe the Fleche Jurassienne Winner Brojt visits the afternoon, lots of maybes around

It's actually positive for sprinterteams. Can be frustrating, but can be the best thing that can happen to them too.

What is the famous "parasite" sprinter that gives some of the sprinterteams heart attacks and has them start whining about the unfairness of it all?

1) The GC team with a sprinter. That, depending how strong his sprinter is, will even help. And if not, he will not attack, one attacker less.
2) The classic team with a sprinter. Same here as above
3) The GC or classic or weaker sprinter that doesn't help and attacks instead.

Of the 3 the only one that doesn't help, directly or indirectly is nr 3. And it's not the most "verbreitet".
So parasite sprinters IMO just by being there actually help the spritners.

BUT, they help them even more in another way. The points jersey. The more sprinters there are, the likelier it is a sprinter wins it. 4 sprinters, then Ludulous Quist? Ludulous has big chances of winning it. He'll be fourth on flat stages, then has chances to score more points in harder stages. 8 sprinters and Ludulous? Much harder. Or even somebody like the bad Falkenbier sprinters... More flat sprinters, harder for him to win green.
That counts for Yemen too. Stage 7 and 9 the 2 critical ones, IMO very possible to get a sprint in both. 7, it's so far from the last mountain that it's hard to have enough riders in front to control... will need more teams. While in the back the sprinters shoudl have a certain mass anyway. Plus.. many teams with "parasite" sprinters will have more interest in coming back, then in getting through in front with the classic group.
Be it as it may, give the ape FL at 15h and FL+Ape will get the sprint on stage 7. Well, mmh, ah, well, ok, I don't have the sprinter for it, shit.
Anyway, point is, the points jersey is definetly a realistic goal in Yemen for the sprinter teams. Some "positive" parasites will even help.

Team FL decided to ride the last big Tour of the Year, although we do not know about time troubles that may occur in the course of the tour. Anyway, the tour seems to be fun, so, the general feeling said yes. Line-up will be the following (most expensive ever for a Team FL sprinter team...):

x1 Luigi "Gigi" Mastrangelo, old but experienced leader. Tries to reach 10'000 eternal points
x2 Nathaniel "Nate" Biedermann, the quiet guy from Schellenberg
x3 Fred Colon, the team's cook. Fish and Chips. Yay.
x4 Tim Hamberger, good old German sprint enforcer
x5 Toni Hassler, the angry guy from Schellenberg
x6 Stefan "King" Küng, bearer of the flag
x7 Wesley Lichtenkiesel, the monster
x8 Hugo Marxer, the inofficial leader, expects help from Luigi
x9 Cédric Schmarotz, sprinter, pain in the ass

Goals: Stage wins, points classement, GC top10 (depends a bit on Luigi's training), lots of fun.
To avoid: bancruptcy, no sitter, Luigi helping Marxer

What may change: Hörnö for Küng. We are almost sure we need a team dentist in Yemen.
I didn't mean to say it. But I meant what I said.

So lets go here the ultra cheep, parasit sprinter, parasit climber, parasit classic team, also known as Equipe Mathematique:

#1 Jeff Joker, new sprinter, has to show its not only the extra class of Bürgi who brought EM some sprint wins
#2 Louis Auslander, the moneysprinter and Paveleader, dont know why we need a pave leader but ok
#3 Romano Avogadro, future classic rider and has some sprint too
#4 Wolfgrang Gröbner, the cheep classic rider and GC helper #1
#5 Jonas Kibilius / Willy Zischer, more likely Zischer will start, more flat, more reg, better for a sprint team
#6 Josef Loschmidt, future classic rider #2 and has some sprint too
#7 Szolem Brojt, not #1 because he is just helper, calling him helper helps him it seems, goal: beat Luigi again
#8 Schönflies, flat captain
#9 Scheffé, flat co captain

salary ~405k which is very nice for some medium GC and sprint chances
dont know if Laplace is necessary, seems the first time we dont need him
Gauß will not start here too i think
Boaz Trakhtenbrot:

  • 16.609 Eternal Points

Still not sure who will start....

Fahrny
Leibundgut
Montandon
Olteanu

Still sure

Gong out
Sagyrbayuly out
Alighieri out
Urganov out

So?

Mattarozzi
Todea
Uchigasaki
Conti
Yrjönpoika
Haryono
Wei
Mori

Can I start with 12 riders? 2 of these out, no idea who...

But mmh, Schmarotz and Joker, 2 sprinters already there, Conti and Yrjönpoika sounds logic. MONEY............Uchigasaki for place 30 too. And if the others insist I can even ride a little bit occasionally. But having 4 non riders in the team... Conti-Yrjönpoika-Fahrny-Uchigasaki (despite 72 flat he basically doesn't ride)... mmhh... But then what are guys that can ride needed for?

1 Fahrny
2 Conti
3 Leibundgut
4 Montandon
5 Olteanu
6 Todea
7 Uchigasaki
8 Wei
9 Yriönpoika

Looks kind of ok. 488k, not sure why... even bringing Wei instead of Haryono... bah.

Final decisions taken, team inscribed.

11 riders travel to Yemen

Conti: I still feel ok, I know I can still win stages. I'll fight for stages and the green. It's sad to ride without Bakhtiyar, but Fredi and Kusi will do their job.
Fahrny: I'm here to win. Nothing more to say
Haryono: Fahrny, Conti the 2 clear leaders, but we'll have possibilities to escape, as I showed in the Giro, I can deliver.
Leibundgut: There for Fabulous of course, and Markku, my finnish namesake as well. He's good, as he showed everybody in Germany this week. He's no Fabulous, but he'll be good.
Mattarozzi: Fahrny? Yes, he's the leader, doesn't mean I can't try to fight for white. Elsener, Walrus, they are in my reach, easily. But Omar will be the nr 1, that's clear.
Montandon: I'm still nr 2 in the flat hierarchy, I know. But I'm good at it, and if there is a chance to ride for myself, I'll take it.
Mori: I'll be there for early tempo if necessary, and to protect Fabulous in the gruppetto. The first 3 days could be hard, but we're experienced enough to survive that.
Olteanu: I'll enjoy this 2 weeks, I know it. Feel better and better, it will be hard, but that's the way I like it. Too bad for the completely flat stages actually.
Todea: I'll mostly protect Fahrny, probably try to be in the top 20 GC myself, should be possible. Stage wins, difficult, I'm not such a good sprinter as you know.
Uchigasaki: I see 2 stages I can win here, or at least try. My first job will be to protect Fahrny. Then, in those 2 stages depending on how it goes I will have the support of the team.
Yrjönpoika: Winning? Hoped to win this week in Germany, in Yemen will be difficult. But who knows, we'll see. Conti? We can coexist, of course, I learn a lot from him, he's still the nr 1.

2 will not start and then join the other riders, Alighieri, Gong, Ramirez and Wei in the new state of the art training center in China. Altitude training in Xining, even if it's kind of cold.
Announcement now since I have to travel to Doha International Airport now, to cover the arrival of my former team, NoPikouze, for the 21h edition. Should be fun seeing them collapse after 5 hours somewhere still thousands of kilometers from Aden. Mmh, although with the RSF speed, they could actually make it. Depends on the mintact basically.

After the Brescia Lulu race, the Gaurain's have taken a private fly to Yemen. They saw a huge fight on a swiss airport between apparently some of their opponents!!

Anyway, lineup is clearn or quasi clear.

1. RobyWalrus SheepKlebt : gk leader. " Happy the team trust me. I did good Anden and could have reached a better result with a bit luck. I'm here to fight for the white and reach a stage win."

2. Gilles Cordaro : Allrounder Helper. "Well, I'll have lot of work during this tour, especially on flat stages I think. I hope the boss let me go on escapes so that I can show my finishing qualities".

3. Jonas Deneve : Flatguy. " I have on important role in the team, especially on flat stage for Prbuisson and Lambert. Being an helper here is no problem for me".

4. Jérémie Gorius : The 60-80+ : " I was not on Anden and It was a bit disappointing for me. I had a bad period. Then, the boss says me that I'll go to Yemen if I trained hard. I did. Happy to be rewarded for the work!"

5. Ghislain Lambert : The Lulu sprinter. "Well, it's amazing to be there. I'm only 22 and I will the opportunity to compete with Guillaume. Seems the old star of the team will be there to give tipps to Fabrizio... I hope he'll give some to me too."

6. Tom Légende : The unusefull rider. "I'm not that unsefull. Ok, I have no reg but I'm quasi a 60-80. This kind of rider is important to have a good balanced team."

7.Lionel Maréchal : The Brllant classic. "Well, I'm a bit tired after Brescia. Anyway, I now that I have chances to get my first stage win here... And I won't let it go!"

8. Guillaume Prebuisson : The sprinter. "Lots of critics for me the last month. People don't remember I did a 15 days break, then it was hard to be competitive at the end of the last season. I prepared specifically for Yemen, and I can say that I'm in form. I'm here to win as much as possible."

9. Charles Spiroux : The downhill classic. "Well, I thikn we bring a good team here. Even if Rémy is not here, Lionel and me are really competitiv classic. We'll try to show it to the rest of the team. Winning each a stage would be a dream!"

Adrien Joveneau was seen too in the flight, he seems to be the reservist. The other gaurain's climber, Jurgen Bellinckx, said to us he was really disappointed with his non selection here : "well, that's an hard blow for. I did good in Anden but had no real. I have to think now about the follow of my career, If I stay here or not!". Another furius rider is JeanMarie Javaux. We knew for days that Delponte, Gaillard, Gaiolle (with other goals this season), Genez, Lodewick and pauwels wouldn't be from the party, the case of JeanMarie is a bit surprising : " I have trained myself to ride such races, I'm born and made for it. Finally, the manager prefer Lulu rider as Tom or the young stupid Lambert. I'm fed up. I thought Anden was the begin of something but finally, it was just an exception.

Cost of the team (a bit too much actually) : 506k
