first rest day in the giro and time to relax for one day.

what happens in the first week:
the excepted fight between alk and speed about the maglia rosa. at the moment a little advantage for speedbiker, but alk with his new trainings-hero sanchp panza have in the next days all stockings in his hand. we will see if speed can defeat the first place in the next week.
fight for the climbers jersey is very closed at the moment. cologne started quickly with liias in the tour, makes the first points, after this nothing follows and so other riders are now near and the big points comes now. so the really hill-climbers with good chances.
the point jersey is save to dq. i think alk will defeat the shirt to the end.
the whit jersey at the moment in the hand of dean kootz, but i hope it change soon, and not sancho panza will get this shirt.
the team classment is open for all at the moment. in the first week no escape with much time-bonus. we must see what happens in week two.

Hi giro guys!
If one you needs a sitter this week, I could do it parallel to California. ;) (Should be possible with a 2nd browser?)
PS: You have even more teams than we in California. ^^
Have fun

Quite some action today, with a fairly large group first with heterogenous goals and then a nice attack by the young Recien duo, which was chased by the white contender Furpach. However in the end, there were no surprises today, Don Quijote winning with a late attack on the last climb, gaining some time on the other climbers and again collecting bonus seconds to get in total another 36" closer to Ben Speedbiker, so this fight stays interesting. Pat Luck made a big step towards the white jersey with basically only Sancho Panza remaining a threat. The climber's jersey still is wide open with nobody making big steps towards it and the calculation of points being buggy as well.

Ivan Quintans----------------my man for the next month but to bad for giro
Mariano Pavone-------------good helper but not more
Jonathan Quick-------------every time good for a attck and a win
Jakob Vrana-----------------a worker
Nicolas Hasler---------------a flat helper
Martin Stocklasa, Hans Adam and Yver Oehri good puller for every attack

so a good team for top 10 but not more :-(

Today Brath Rhum Factory's team was interested in working. Kyle ordered, in the "stageplan meeting", to work hard, trying to weak all the stronger leaderteams. Kyle's podium Target is going so far and he choice to fight for a Top5 Placement. Not a good Story to tell to his nephews, but at least a good behaviour. This waste of energy (Gummo, the TT specialist, do a lot of good work, and also Aaron spend his energies for his captain) made, in the end, a little group arriving at last km of the climb, where Don Quijote atks and surprising Kyle, who reattack to gain something. In the end this action meanings 2 more position in GC by Kyle (P6 now, but Vitesse's Boltinger P5 has illness) and Kyle's great Helpers, Ayrton and Peter, P10 and p11.
Brath's take also the lead in Team Classification.

Ok, the simply and harmless stage 12 made some little change in GC. The early escape was chased quietly by cologne trying to reach a MS finish, but two or three hills avoid this attempt. Furpach siebs early and work hardly to have a chance to win, but Alk, when he hypotize some danger by Luck, starts to chase hard. In the end there was a fight between Alk (who has Garcia Lorca in the back as favo) +Cologne (Erne)+Rasmussen (Thorne) and the escapers, with the "no chance in the back" Brath Rhum Factory (Ayrton SennaDaSilva), Speedbiker (Sope) and Furpach(Snowwhite). Speedbiker made a mistake, because he allowed Don Qijote to follow him and Ben not to, so he lost 12'' on GC. Sprint in the end was between Ayrton, Snowwhite and Pavone, and it ends in this Order.

Ayrton reach 3 wins in his career, and 2nd win on a GC (one stagewin at TdF2012)

It was definitely interesting today. Cologne Procycs and Rasmussenbank were a bit slow with chasing after the sieb and Furpach's work to put some time between the groups. I hesitated as I was preparing for my own sieb to get a sprint with FGL, Erne and Thor. In the end Furpach got some help by Brath and Speedbiker, which allowed the late classic attack. I assume not everybody expected Don Quijote following this attack ;-) However he wasn't strong enough to do it again and the rest of group got away again. Brath taking his 2nd stage win in this Giro and Furpach still waiting for his first. But I'm sure there are more chances to come for him.

Sorry Playboys, but you're right, i completely forgot you sieb in the back despite i told to you "never sieb if you're in escape and you want to win".

Last attack is not important who did it because we all make mistakes taking DQ with us, so we do stupid things although my "Ayrton" wins.

Sorry newely.

Just a thing, analysis is done with main part, i always avoid to speak about unsuccessfull escapes ;) but sorry

Summary of today: This could have been a lot easier! Rasmussen's sitter made it somehow more complicated than necessary without actually going through with it to the end. Hence, Die Playboys came away with an easy win (2nd of this kind already). With the late action, Don Quijote could gain some more time on all the other climbers, surprisingly even including Kyle Brathwaite, who could follow one attack but closely failed to follow the second attack.

Current GC situation:
1) Ben Speedbiker 0:00
2) Barak Sope 1:56
3) Don Quijote 2:05
4) Pat Luck 3:39
5) Kyle Brathwaite 6:25
6) Ivan Quintans 6:36
7) Sancho Panza 7:13
8) Dean Koontz 7:27

It currently looks Don Quijote will be able to catch Ben Speedbiker, who however has good chances to keep a good GC position. Pat Luck and Kyle Brathwaite will of course still be able to put pressure on the Speedbiker duo.

The Galibier stage was fun, at least from my point of view ;) But anyway, the expected thing happened and Don Quijote gained some more time on Ben Speedbiker and won the stage. Speedbiker however did pretty well first, by blocking Don Quijote's attack, but then made some small mistakes by first trying to follow the attack and then attacking himself without getting rid of Sancho Panza and Pat Luck. Also because of that he lost more than 1 minute in total.
Yesterday then, everyone went on another training session and shockingly, Sancho Panza didn't get stronger this time, but all the other contenders also stayed equally strong (Pat Luck with more bad luck), so no change here. And with Kyle Brathwaite leaving the Giro for personal reasons, the Alkworld climber are free to dominate the remaining mountain stages, something that wasn't really forseeable on day 1.

Strongest climbers on day 1
85 - Don Quijote (Alkworld)
85 - Kyle Brathwaite (Brath Rhum Factory)
85 - Marvin Boltinger (Vitesse)
85 - Peter Rübli (CARRERA-ITALIA)
84 - Sancho Panza (Alkworld)
83 - Ben Speedbiker (Speedbiker)
82 - Pat Luck (SV Furpach)
81 - Barak Sope (Speedbiker)
78 - Ivan Quintans (Die Playboys)
77 - Dean Koontz (Recien Nacidos)
76 - Stephen King (Recien Nacidos)

Strongest climbers today
86 - Sancho Panza, up two in training
85 - Don Quijote
83 - Ben Speedbiker
82 - Pat Luck, more bad luck in training
81 - Barak Sope
80 - Ivan Quintans, good training for him
80 - Dean Koontz, good training for him
78 - Stephen King, average training for him

No longer in the race
85 - Kyle Brathwaite, left the race for personal reasons
84 - Marvin Boltinger, negative training, now kicked out
84 - Peter Rübli, negative training, left the race for personal reasons
