Giro d'Italia, 20:00

Post by Cerro Torre RT » Mon Apr 29, 2013 11:46 pm

That's already the second time I started than topic without any real goals to go into it... just taking par because it is the Giro, quite sure the only GT I will ride that year.

Ok, headfirst I have to make an adjustment to that announcement. Don't expect me to ride field 2. If it shows that there are more than 22 teams, I may consider to switch to 22, though it's to late actually, or won't ride it at all. I will for sure not do field 2. If both times get splitted, then I have to let it pass.

Team this year: Expensive, senceless, but well, if I won't by another rider I won't come out with a minus afterwards. It will contain of:

x1 Warren Harding
x2 Tuomas Holopainen
x3 Marian Hossa
x4 Adrian Ilie
x5 Ryan O'Reilly
x6 Alexey Rastvortsev
x7 Snæbjörn Snæbjörnsson
x8 Rene Toft Hansen
x9 Arda Turan

Goals: The tour win, what else?

A reachable prediction of what to achieve: As I know how Grand Tours usually are ridden, there's not much sence in hoping for a stage win. To get involved at least one time in a fight for it would be an achievement already. Besides that I at least hope for some room for actions that bring some fun, though I do not really expect that.

And as usual, I will miss at least 4 days. Stage 5 to 8 are sure misses, but beside 6 heavily uniteresting anyway, both to ride activly and to watch.

Team Maurice:

1: Frederico Bahamontes - (24) the team captain who has good chances for top3 gc and the youth rider jersey is save ;)
2: Hennes Junkermann - (28) only bought to help Frederico on the mountains with his 61 reg
3: Gergo Verraszto - (32) the oldie but one of the beste classic rider in the field
4: Constante Girardengo - (24) the woman in the field and in the team.... will be in some seasons a strong classic rider.
5: Niclas Donner - (30) bought to make tempo in the TTT
6: JoseLuis Kasa - (25) helper
7: Marcelo Omar - (27) helper
8: Fabricio Vidal - ( 24) helper
9: Wisilfredo Boti - (29) helper

We want to win the Giro and maybe we will get one stage ;)

Ok, haven't seen that Bahamontes is still that young, so he might play a role, as till the first mountain stage, he already can rise to 84. On the other side, and that's my mayor concern with your listing, every stage offers a 20s of bonification, which Bahamontes will never reach on any stage. I count 6 mountain arrivals, so you can easily count on the strongest mountain riders to win 1:00 to 1:30 only through bonifications. Taking into account that some of them are very steep, it's easy to prdict they can win quite some time beside the bonification. The Mountain time trail will not seperate the climbers by much. So in my eyes, the ***** doesn't belong to Bahamontes, but to Velasco. Swithc him with Bahamontes, and I am with you.

Another thing I do totally disagree with is the points classification. All stages beside time trails are worth the same points, so it leaves the Hill sprinters as only favourites, followed by the mountain riders. Real sprinters don't stand the slightest chance.

The other yerseys, I honestly don't care about at all, so neither opinion nor interest from me.

I think that the a top3 for Bahamontes is aceptable but with the bonifications he has no chance against velasco and Thu :)
so for me:
***** Velasco
**** Thu, BangBang
*** Bahamontes
