trentino 9h

Post by AlmavivaItalia » Tue Apr 16, 2013 10:56 am

Morning

Nice and funny things on Trentino, where Alk take his chances to win the tour from the first stage and mantain Yellow after the TTT.

Brath Rhum Factory, who has a good team for doing something, make a mistake:TT star Gummo Marx increase speed, 4 can follow him, but 5th one disappear so they lost about 10 seconds.

Top 10 is almost sure for Kyle, but he wants to work for (overvalued) Red Jersey, so let's see what it happens.

It looks like this may turn into an interesting tour. The profiles at least look very promising. Today, already a lot happened. The top climbers gained some time just to lose some of it right away in the TTT to the specialist teams, who missed to control the race when the big attack happened. Here's a quick favorite check for this tour:

GC:
***** Don Quijote (Alkworld)
**** Florian Mutzke (rastullah), Kyle Brathwaite (Brath Rhum Factory), Christian Fuentes (TopGun)
*** Cano Mugica (Wouwou duwers)
** Steve McQueen, Ben Speedbiker (Speedbiker)
* Sancho Panza (Alkworld), Anatoly Petrov (Jockelsteam), Barak Sope (Speedbiker), George Mutzke (rastullah)
Don Quijote is wearing yellow and has chances to defend it, but Fuentes (the strongest climber who lost a bit too much time today), Kyle (on its Italian team's home turf) and Mutzke are still dangerous. Others may also be good for some surprises as the stages are long and difficult.

Green:
*** Christian Fuentes (TopGun)
** Don Quijote (Alkworld)
* Florian Mutzke (rastullah), Kyle Brathwaite (Brath Rhum Factory)
The top favorites for GC will have to win the GC during the stages and therefore are also favorites for green.

White:
*** Anatoly Petrov (Jockelsteam)
**
* Sancho Panza (Alkworld), George Mutzke (rastullah)
Petrov seems to be the captain of his team unlike Sancho Panza and George Mutzke

Red:
*** Kyle Brathwaite
** somebody
* someone else
If Kyle wants it, he'll most likely get it.

Trentino Stage 2:

Sillian - Vetriolo Terme

225 kms with Passo Lavaze (24 km, 6,3%) at 131 and Finish on Vetriolo (14 km, 7,3%).

GC teams worked a bit, first to work was TopGun, to mantain the early escape By 5 riders (2 by Racien Nacidos).

After it, during Lavaze, some km of work by John Brathwaite, just for leaving some tired helpers from the group. This action, who seems harmless, will be decisive in the end.

After half uphill, Alkworld tries to make some actions, siebing half of the group to leave some capitains without helpers. TopGun and Brath Rhum Factory remains with only 2 riders, But after going over Lavaze Alkworld doesn't try to do 80 alone kms so he wait for other helpers. In main group nobody want to work for victory so the fugitives reach more than 5' of advantage. After it, Alk, Brath and TopGun wake up and decide to take their chances for the win, and so they do high tempo. Vetriolo had just started when Fuentes attacks. He can gain up to 20'' from Leaders group, where Don Quijote's helper, Sancho Panza, was doing tempo. 5kms to finishline Don Quijote wants to act for defending jersey, so he ups the pace and when it remains only 1km to go Fuentes has only 7'' of advantage on DQ, Sancho, Mutzke brothers, Kyle Brathwaite, Mugica and Speedbiker. Last km was fantastic.
DQ forces an atk, Florian Mutzke and Kyle remain in his wheels, and after 200m Kyle, who seems the fresher one between these 3 riders, surprise everyone with an alone atk. In front, Fuentes does his best and in the end he save the stagewin for 1 second.

So, Stage Classification (Top 5)
17.04.2013 Trentino : Giro Trentino stage 2: Sillian-Vetriolo Terme: HC MountainStage
1. 00:00:00 Cristian Fuentes (TopGun)
2. 00:00:01 Kyle Brathwaite (Brath Rhum Factory)
3. 00:00:02 Florian Mutzke (rastullah)
4. 00:00:02 Don Quijote (Alkworld)
5. 00:00:05 Cano Mugica (Wouwou duwers)

And GC positions:
1. 00:00:00 Don Quijote (Alkworld)
2. 00:00:13 Florian Mutzke (rastullah)
3. 00:00:14 Kyle Brathwaite (Brath Rhum Factory)
4. 00:00:17 Ben Speedbiker (Speedbiker)
5. 00:00:27 Cano Mugica (Wouwou duwers)
6. 00:00:32 Barak Sope (Speedbiker)
7. 00:00:38 Cristian Fuentes (TopGun)

Good, no changes in the GC yesterday. Don Quijote and Sancho Panza did what they had to and kept everything under control. One second to Kyle, two to TopGun and none to Mutzke was excellent. As a big surprise, Sancho Panza could even put on the white jersey, which happened quite unexpected. However, Mutzke II may still take it over on the last stage, when Sancho may have a lot of work to do.

"Disaster!"

This is what Kyle thinks after the race.
"P3 in GC when i was fresher and fitter than Mutzke is a bad thing, i expect to overtake him at least in General Classification. Too bad This situation".
"About Fuentes, i'm a bit angry with him, because was a promise during the race to left me the Red Jersey. I worked for him, he waits and he steals, not so fair .."

Kyle's team was a bit passive today. Fuentes could have been weakened, some farmer tricks were possible, early attacks could have been tried. But I think Kyle was too scared to lose his podium ...
