California 9h

Post by team fl » Sat May 12, 2012 4:02 pm

Now that we got the whole ESTA shit, Team FL will hopefully arrive in time tomorrow at the start of the Tour of California at 9h. Most probably these riders will start:

x1 Nathaniel Biedermann
x2 Toni Hassler
x3 Harry Hole
x4 Niels Hörnö
x5 Stefan Küng
x6 Takashi Murakami
x7 Pit Schlechter
x8 Gaudenz Taverna
x9 Xaver Unsinn

No training, no motivation, so goals: fuck them.
I didn't mean to say it. But I meant what I said.

After some thoughts about the right time we decided to ride in the morning. We bring a strong and expensive team for our 2 leaders

1 Hermann Schwarz - our man for the overall
2 George Stokes - he should have some chances for a sprint
3 Hermann Minkowski - the young-star is prepared to work for the leaders
4 Stanislaw Mazur - his reg will be crucial for success
5 Guiseppe Vitali - as always a helper we can trust
6 Beppo Levi - a coming star and already an important part of the team
7 Arthur Milgram - strong an reliable helper
8 Guido Fubini - another young strong rider
9 Rene Baire - the old man will not get many chances this tour

targets: podium, green and at least 1 stage

Well, you have the best TT and a good rider for the GC (with TT) as well as a mountain proof team. So yes, I think it's possible. If you stop escaping with your mountain rider on a stage like today ;)

Yes, had too less information about this team, it seems :D

Anyway, first stage with lots of action. Early group, later even with a climber, early split and tempo by Baravia and a glorioius victory by Xaver Unsinn. Would have never expected that and was mostly frustrated about Taverna and Küng having to work a lot behind the main group. But in the end, the finish put me in consiliatory mood again 8-).

Funny fact, PankoTeam sacrificed his climber for the mountain jersey, being now - as TAKA already mentioned - 28 min behind in the team classement (shame on me for this favorite check). The famous Californian maglia rosa - höhö - is worn by Unsinn of course. He also heads the points classement. Second in the stage, Beppo Levi from Radunion is at least wearing the jersey of the best youth rider. But of course, after stage one, everything is still very open. Ok, perhaps not the team classement for PankoTeam...

GC after stage 1:

01. 00:00 Xaver Unsinn (Team FL)
02. 00:05 Beppo Levi (Radunion)
03. 00:15 Engin Kurnaz (TEAM TAKA)
04. 00:22 Aaron Moses (ELITE TEAM)
05. 00:22 Toni Hassler (Team FL)
06. 00:22 Heiner Hoch (Bavaria)
08. 00:24 George Stokes (Radunion)
09. 00:24 Cain Deckard (Atletico Sinks)
10. 00:24 Santi Busquets (ELITE TEAM)
.
30 more riders within 00:24.

Second stage, Team FL expected nothing but keeping Unsinn in the leader's jersey. Well, at least that worked perfectly. But in the end, we gave away a better chance for the stage win too when Nathaniel Biedermann attacked and Paris from Atletico Sinks followed. Anyway, there was the decision to try it like this or to take ELITE TEAM' s offer to pull him for GC while he would let Nate win the stage. I just guess this was not an opportunity for Nate. Anyway, so far the tour is much more successful than we ever expected. Besides that the mountain classement changed to Virenke and Kumaz is wearing the points jersey.

The tour proved more difficult for us than expected. We took the risk to ride for stages and overall with a team with low reg. So far the risk did not pay off. We managed with some difficulties to keep in contention for the overall, but the it proved impossible so far to create a sprint for George. A main problem is the presence of Cain Deckard who is difficult to distance. Therefore we decided for an offensive strategy in the first stage but Beppo lost in the sprint and got second. In the 2nd stage we had to pay for this as Beppo started the stage without full energy and got distance on the last hill. This left us only Stanislaw to limit the losses.

As the tour continues our main focus is the overall, but we will keep trying to get a stage as well.

PS: To leave George at home would would make me suffer even more. This are the profiles I dream of for 1 day races.

Jealous? Why, it's all thanks to me.
I gave Hugo the right mindset.
He gave it to the rest of your boys.
So no Ape, no win today, it's that simple.

It was neither, it was Hugos, so my, well my bosses, influence!!!!

Stopping you? With that I just meant your posts full of self praise.

Me, the humble Roko Keko, employed by the even humbler Enormous Ape would never do that :ugeek:

Sooo, TT is over, Schwarz in front. But it seems he still haves problems with the energy with only 37 Reg. Today, ELITE TEAM tried to use it but did not succeed. Instead, TEAM TAKA won his first stage at the ToC infront of Nate Biedermann, who is now wearing the points jersey, with Unsinn three points behind. Tomorrow will be a climber's stage then. I don't think that Schwarz will lose the leader position in the general classement, also Ximenez from ELITE TEAM seems to be eager to try it. While the classement for the best youth rider seems to be made for Kljujew from RV Zahna already, the mountain classement is still open, although only theretically. Most probably Mutti from PankoTeam will take this jersey at home. Still, Team FL is expecting an interesting stage on Sunday.
