After thinking it over (and afterwards we are always smarter), I should really have put in Puig earlier, I already feared Gino being too strong. Even better would have been the absence of Nanni, then Gabriel could have attacked and win the stage. But anyway, the Giro is wide open with Bamba as the favorite, but definitely not the sole favorite. If Frida manages her famous rain dance again, there's still trouble to come

Gino again. again a little bit lucky... i wanted the group let go after 90km, cause i thought i couldn´t take them back alone anyway. then Samu jumped in and supported. Probably the group still would have made it, if they had got it going after the pullers had done their work...
Nobody Siebed Raggi? so it will be sprint - otherwise would not have been easy with 3% on the last km. but Raggi staying around made it easy and Samu doing km 194-205 helped a lot too. the sprint: actually not a bad try by Zahradka not to take Gino´s wheel - if Gino misses the early wheel and will do the "350-300 meters Nanni/Raggi train"-thing - Zahradka can win it with the early sprint too. but Gino got the wheel. on the 2nd stage i feared exactly this and Gino took Zahradkas wheel...

by the way: Gino now believes he will win the Giro. and all remaining stages too of course.

Das erste mal ging es noch gut aber diesmal hätte ich an dir hängen sollen, naja sprint immer eine Lotterie oder^^. Heute endlich mal ein tag wo ich nix machen muss , habe keine ahnung ob heute bergis oder die kahlo Hybrid typen im vorteil sind. Werde heut versuchen weiß zu verteidigen und vor allem wieder ein wenig kraft sammeln .

Last 2 days Gino won again... Seems like he is unstoppable... Maybe today?!
At the Strade Bianchi were no big gaps. Only GarciaMarquez from Alkwolrd finished 30 seconds before the other mountain riders. Hope was 2-4 seconds before his other mountain opponents.
Nothing more to say... We hope to beat Gino soon

the first mountain top finish of the Giro goes to Unlingen´s Kletter! a surprising win made possible by a brave and riskful attack by Samu 50km before the finish the two Unllingen´s following. Actually the attack did not look really successful in the beginning - but when BMG decided to let other teams chase Nasawa too it got interesting and taking the risk of attacking finally paid off for the Samu´s and Unlingen´s in the End by taking the stgae win for Kletter and stealing at least some seconds by Nasawa for the overall ranking. Hope and Marquez the next riders - 4 seconds behind only.

it did not look like that in the beginning, but we got a sprint out of this stage. probably i got Samu wrong when he asked me if i would for ride for a sprint. But sieb at km 75 and then doing 140km non stop tempo was never an option for the Aris. too far to go - too much energy to waste.then better to try to get Ancho into a group or to sieb with Nanni on the last hill. I had hoped to get some support by Fohlen or Samu in chasing groups too - but the attacks were moderate, so the Ari´s made it without help, although the sprint gave options for several riders. the Sieb by Nanni was ok, siebed Fohlen´s sprinter - not strong enough to sieb Viola. just typical Nanni-work: ok - but nothing really impressive. really hoped, he could do it.
bad for Gino: Chartreuse´s sprint variant made Gino miss the wheel. good for Gino: Bamba Anderson and Vuvu´s Hope did not take a lot of points in the sprint.

Vulcano stage a desaster due to the conditions - not weather, but game. Loading bug on both mountains, first mountain no points due to the bug, second one no chance to do something the last km. Lucky Vuvu won with very less work, but lucky for me neither Hope nor one of the other strongest contenders for the overall victory got time this stage, so it could be worser. Hope Bamba's time is coming next week...

yes. hard conditions on the last climbs for everyone. after absence 2-3 km before i was actually right back on the last km to attack with Nanni, what might have brought him the win. but first i did not want to attack, just following Frida. then realized Frida isn´t around anymore...why? what? out of confusion just put in blue tempo and made a sprint with Nanni - for 2nd place...

As expected Gino lost rosa - i think even without sprinting for the points before the climb, no chance to keep it - so went for the points with Gino.
In the overall rankings still no major decisions - the Hubers lost some time, 27 seconds for Kamehameha is still ok, 53 seconds for Nasawa may be a little bit too much, if you see it was not the hardest climb. not a good race by Zhukov, who was dropped far too early, when needed most as help for Nasawa.

Finally a nice race today. And the group can be happy that the sprinters in this field are weak, as we were just too many people in the group who fight really hard for the victory
@BMG: Well done, I just switched to Elb's rider at the time of attack, otherwise everybody would still have been there
@EQ: You need to play harder, just riding for a group where you can't win is not good. Put your poker face on!
@Ari: Nasty to go with such a strong sprinter into the group, but your connection punished you
@Vuvu: If the attack with Wayne comes a little earlier, a lot would still be possible (generally late attacks shouldn't be too late). And I was really surprised that Harper couldn't follow Puig. That would have triggered some more

another (and the last) stage for sprinter´s - so another day for groups. to be honest: expected a calm race before the mountain stages - but a hell group riding stared right from the beginning, a lot of teams riding for the win. nice stage! nice win by Vuvu.

05/19: 2nd victory for Vuvuzela
It was an interesting stage. Many attacks and till the end an open race. At the beginning we sent Aslan into the groups. He is the most active esacper of our team so far. Later Samurais attacked and Kratos did it into the group. The group was with around 15 riders just to big. So M. Nasawa attacked, Kratos and Ben Strong (Sv Furpach) followed and they worked good together. In the sprint Kratos was the luckiest and strongest. A nice victory for Kratos Nikolaos after the first victory of Teko Hunter in this Giro some days ago.

Marquez winning the sprint - amazing! strong! what a pancheur!
it was the expected race (as far as i could see - no i-net for the most of the race). the Hubers lost 26 seconds - what is good for them. but tomorrow could be the day we will see more clearly.
a group with Anev would have needed 20 seconds more...taken back on the last km...
@Chartreuse: what should i do? when i came back Anev had more or less the same energy Schneider had. went in red tempo directly - later Anev for sure had less energy than Schneider - just furpach too strong and dropped him... (really tried to ride WITH Schneider not against him, would have tried an attack on the 2nd last km, not before...)- if it is about the "puller": don´t send 2 riders into the escape if you do not want to kill 2 riders...that´s what everybody does...

Gabriel was amazing today! And I don't know what Frida offered him for that, or what she used to threaten him, if he wouldn't. The Giro now seems to be a bit more open than expected with even the Hubers not completely out yet. At least it seems so, maybe we can tell on Sunday after two of the toughest stages in this year's Giro. The other favorites might just wait for each other to act while not eliminating the Hubers.

Na das waren ja mal zwei harte Etappen. Die erste beiden noch relativ harmlos, die Ergebnisse fast wie erwartet. Der große Knall kam dann heute, erst mit einer Fridaattacke, bei der Unlingen, aber keiner der anderen Favoriten folgen konnte. Kurz danach eine Teamattacke von Samu, die leider das GK ziemlich verzerren könnte. Zumindest hat sie Elb in eine sehr komfortable Situation gebracht, nachdem er von Nasawa schön nach vorne (und damit von den anderen Favoriten weg) gezogen wurde. Unlingen ist immerhin aus eigener Kraft in eine sehr gute Situation gekommen und ist jetzt einer der großen Kandidaten auf den Gesamtsieg. Mit dem kleinen Nachteil, dass das Team jetzt nur noch aus 4 Mann besteht. Vollständig ist mW kein Team mehr.

Meine aktuelle Einschätzung der Chancen im GK:

Warum? Elb und Unlingen sollten klar sein. Hope und Gabriel gleich auf, Bamba kann sicher noch Zeit gutmachen. Frida, Nanni, Hunter und Marechal könnten bei günstigen Attacken noch Chancen haben, wenn sich der Rest wieder nicht einig ist, wer nachfahren soll.

Ich habe noch alle 9 und muss sagen was ich heut tat war nicht gewollt und es tut mir sehr leid. Hatte heute sicherlich viel vor gehabt fast das komplette team auf den tag Form ausgelegt und naja ging ja auch alles gut, habe viele teams schwer geschwächt indem ich absolut gegen das groupetto fuhr. Ich hatte schon vor heute was zu zeigen und meine reg vorteile auszuspielen. Meine attacke war wohl wirklich unfair aber muss sagen dachte echt plus 5 steigung und letzte rennhälfte wären ok. Dies war ein fehler und es tut mir wirklich leid so sollte das heut nicht laufen. Ich weiß Bmg ist angefressen und ich verstehe ihn total. Aktzeptiere auch eine Stafe aber wie gesagt war echt nicht mit absicht. Mensch wollte heut die Samu show abziehen und am ende steht nur ein großes desaster. Zwar liege ich im gk nun ziemlich gut und ich habe auch noch nicht aufgegeben um weiß und einen guten gk platz zu kämpfen vor allem da ich noch volles team habe aber dieser fade beigeschmack wird bleiben. Kann nur immer wieder sagen tut mir leid aber Jinichi fallen lassen war nicht drinn habe Maxim fallen lassen mehr konnte ich nicht tun. Hoffe man erinnert sich an einen aggressiven und gut fahrenden Samu und nicht an einen der so ein mist baute. Die samurais entschuldigen sich in aller form .

Überlege ob ich den rest der tour aussteige . Das ist alles nicht das was ich wollte. Ich wollte einen guten giro sehr aggressiv , sehr besonnen und vor allem sehr fair bestreiten. Nur pkt 1 klappte, ich hbe wohl unabsichtlich eine GT mit meiner aktion entschieden und das ist irgendwie scheiße. Ich hätte die aktion auch mit jini und Tatsuki allein durchgezogen und wir wären auch mit dem selben vs zum berg gekommen aber da an Maxim der helfer von Elb hing sparten sich unsre kapitäne die kraft in der abfahrt. Dies führte dann zu einer freilich besseren ausgangsposition am berg wo wir uns vor den bergis dann auch halten konnten. Denke ma wir hätten wohl wenn unsere kapitäne selber gefahren wären die abfahrt mindestens 20 sek verloren. Es ist scheiße eine GT für einen anderen zu entscheiden wenn man selber schuld ist mit einer unfairen aktion. Ich habe in der vergangenheit mist gebaut aber das war vorbei und ich wollte mit fairen Mitteln auf mich und mein Team aufmerksam machen. Doch ich habe wohl eine GT entschieden und das ist wirklich eine sache die mich wurmt. Ich hatte mich auf den Giro gefreut ich habe das feld gestern größtenteils vernichtet und bin der einzige mit 9 Fahrern. Mein Team ist stark aber alles woran man sich erinnert wird , wird diese aktion sein mit der ich die GT entschied. Ich weiß nicht wie man mich bestrafen sollte überlege eh das Team komplett danach zu verkaufen bin echt grad irgendwie Ratlos. Alles auf diese etappe ausgelegt die Form des Teams auf diese etappe gelegt es sollte mein Tag werden und es wurde ein wirklich schwarzer Tag für die Samus. Mein Bruder meint ich soll abwarten was Buhman sagt aber das ändert nix an der sache das ich einGT entschieden hab . Bmg und alk und vuvu sind wohl am arsch ,wie soll man den Rest der Tour noch weitermachen und ihnen am ende dann sprichwörtlich in die augen sehen? Habe ein verdammt schlechtes gewissen und ich hasse das. Biete meine Rausnahme als Strafe an .

Fahr weiter! Kannst ja jetzt einfach ein bisschen auf Etappen fahren, wofür Dein Team in den nächsten Tagen eh gut geeignet ist. Falls es dann wieder zu einer GK-Situation kommt (zB Elb wird gesiebt, vorne wird gegen ihn gefahren), kannst ja einfach solange fahren, bis Du bei ihm bist und Dich dann zurückhalten. Wenn dann die 40s, die es gestern gewesen sein, sollten ausgeglichen sind, fährst einfach normal weiter.
Übrigens denke ich, dass die Gruppe gestern ohne Nasawa fast geholt worden wäre, wahrscheinlich nicht ganz, dafür wäre Zhukov wohl zu stark gewesen.

pff! mir alle Helfer aus dem Giro fahren und sich dann vom Acker machen, das fehlte noch!

Das Dilemma in dem du steckst (abgesehen vom Fairnessverstoß) war doch absehbar. Elb´s Leader ist stärker als deiner sowohl am Berg als auch im ZF. Aber du hast das stärkere Team. Gegen Elb fahren ist schwer, einfach los wirst du ihn nicht - außerdem hat keiner von euch eine Chance gegen die Bergfahrer, wenn ihr gegeneindander fahrt. Also fährst du zwangsläufig oft auch für ihn. was auch ok ist - habt ja ganz ähnliche Interessen im Kampf gegen die Bergfahrer. nur kommst du an Elb halt schwer vorbei. Ein wirklich starkes (teures) Team lohnt sich halt meist nur , wenn dein Leader auch wirklich stark ist - das war schon immer so.

Fairnessverstoß: warum kontrolliert da auch keiner berghoch? dann verpufft die Attacke ohnehin völlig mit dem Flachstück hinten dran...fährt eh keiner konsequent von den Bergfahrerteams hier auf das GK (gegen die Huber)- dann kommt sowas raus. Vorteil für die Huber (paar Sekunden gewonnen, statt welche verloren) durch einen Fairnessverstoß freilich blöd...aber auch selbst schuld irgendwo.

the Zoncolan stage - of course a finish for the climbers. Surprisingly not Anderson and Marechal the strongest - Hope and Marquez again, and the suprise of the Tour Kletter. Vuvu´s Hope the strongest in the finish this time. the Elb´s Kamehameha only 52 seconds behind the winner...

229 km, 5 hard long climbs - the hardest stage of the Giro. and Samu made it a really hard one - riding hard against the gruppetto. Only 76 riders finished the stage within the the time limit. in the end Unlingen´s Kletter again won the stage and took back the maglia rosa, in a stage where he was the only of the Favorits who had the guts to follow an early Frida-attack - that was good for the stage win.

Ich weiß ari die attacke machte ich um elb eigentlich loszuwerden. Ich fuhr die etappe ultrahart und die Form war bei Jini optimal. Ich hoffe das er vielleicht noch nicht an mir hing . Vorgesehen war der plan mit jini und Tatsuki der wie fast alle auch top form hatte zu attackieren und dann augen zu und durch. Ich weiß nicht warum ich erinnerte mich nur damals das ma wer sagte an einer steigung von mehr als 5 prozent und in der letzten rennhälfte sei auch ein angriff von 3 man möglich. Naja und da dachte ich scheiße Maxim auch noch fit spare ich abfahrtskm mit jini. Das blöde war halt das grad an Maxim Elbs helfer hing. In dem mom war ich am arsch, fahre ich nicht versaue ich auch elbs tour der ja auch nix dafür konnte das er an mir hing, fahre ich weiter versaue ich wohl den bergleuten die Tour. Ich ließ auch sofort Maxim fallen was ich wie ich zugeben muss im wahrsten sinne des wortes sinnlos war weil ja elbs helfer da war. Ich überdachte also die situation und entschied dann halt für elb zu fahren da er auch einen huber hatte. Hinten waren mit alk , vuvu und bmg 3 bergteams also entschied ich mich dafür. Sicherlich wogen auch meine interessen damit rein aber naja musste entscheidung treffen. Es tut mir wahnsinnig leid nur was ich nicht verstehe warum hing nur elb und unlingen an mir und freilich hunter von vuvu? Ich fuhr die ganze etappe brutal hatte immer mit abstand die meisten Helfer irgendwie war doch klar das diese attacke irgendwann kommen musste. Dies soll keine entschuldigung sein ich habe mist gemacht zum vielleicht dümmsten zeitpunkt aber es war halt keiner drinn ich konnte machen was ich wollte . Ich wünschte ich könnte es ändern aber muss auch sagen bis zum berg die minute hätte ich auf jedenfall gehabt auch ohne elbs helfer. Denke ma wäre der nicht da gewesen wären kamehame und jini die abfahrt gemeinsam durch gefahren dann tatsu der zeit gewann im flachen und zum ende wieder beide kapt rein. Denke ma nicht das wir 40 sek verloren hätten aber 20 denke ich schon denn abfahrt kostet nicht viel kraft . Was hättet ihr an meiner situation gemacht? sicher hätte keiner seinen kapt in der situation fallen lassen oder? und elb bestrafen nur weil er an mir hing fand ich auch nicht ok. Im großen und ganzen war das ein Tag den ich gern nochmal fahren würde .

no surprises in the mountain time trial. the Hubers the strongest, but not taking too much time on the climbers. good race by Bamba finally who took some seconds on the rest of the climbers.

with all teams down to 6 riders or less except BMG (7) Alk(8) and Samu (9) - in the beginning it looked like we got the race between the Samu´s and Alk for the stage win: Samu for Zahradka (and Ari for Cutunio of course!) and Alk for his classics and Frida. But in the end we got a race for the classement, cause no helpers left on the flat for Vuvu and Unlingen, when Samu attacked and Elb and BMG followed. So Kletter, Hope and Marquez lost 46 seconds on Kamehameha, Nasawa and Anderson. Frida lost some seconds too - but Alk took an convincing stage win for that.

Tja bis auf die eine Etappe bin ich mit meiner jetzigen giro Leistung sehr zufrieden. Zwar wird es fürs podium sehr schwer werden aberich denke mal Top 5 sollte drinn sein. Heute wollte ich echt mit ari auf ms fahren aber wieder wurde ich alleine im Tempo gelassen und naja tut mir dann leid für ari aber diese Chance musste ich dann nutzen. Das Hunter und Bamba mit dabei waren war nicht optimal aber auf Hope und andere Bergis konnte ich einiges gut machen. Naja ma schaun was am ende rausspringt aber ich bin auf jedenfall sehr zufrieden.
