I didn't notice that there is already a thread of the Giro 2011. So I deleted my post. Maybe we can discuss here what we think about the Giro 2011 route etc.

The start will be in Torino with a team time trial. The last stage will be a ITT in Milano. But what about the other stages? Anybody with facts or ideas?

It's madness. Total climbing madness. I don't think they missed a single climb in all of Italy.

Contador and Menchov have a nice team. Leopard aka "the best team of the world"  Although they have some nice riders, but they could have send someone for the gc...
And some others teams (Rabobank...) are really bad :?

Mollema again would have been nice, but Krujswijk is interesting too.

Mollema yes. But Kruijswijk wont be able to compete with the best riders or even the "2nd class" imo...

And Bos... unable to ride more than 180km or to stay in the peloton if there is a molehill...

it's getting hot in me...slowly

looking forward how Contadors spanish express can handle the hard stages...Noval, Hernandez and Navarro did a great job in the tour 2010

let's see how many mass sprints we will se in RL, 3,4,5 maybe 6? Cav would love to take one stage each gt this year...and he and his team are able to do it

i'm looking foward if some of the german domestiques will have a lucky punch and maybe win out of an escape or maybe Fabian Wegmann one of the "easier" mountain stages...or will Ciolek finally show why so much people call him sprinter and prove the first time in the last 3,4 years he's able to win a stage in a big race, not only at the "Bayern Rundfahrt"?

HTC for the first stage and the first leader?

Wegmann even won the mountains jersey at the Giro once. It was my first Giro to watch on TV. Back then I didn't realize how unlikely that actually was.

Italians replaced by Russians in final starting nine

Filippo Pozzato and fellow Italian Luca Paolini have been dropped from the Katusha line-up from the Giro d’Italia after the team opted to build the final starting line-up around leader and overall contender Joaquim Rodriguez instead of targeting stage victories.
