Victory in Italy

After a bad performance yesterday, the team does it better on stage 2 of the Tirreno-Adriatico. With big support of the leading team Killers, we got a sprint with a little peloton of about 50 riders. In this sprint, Jörg Abplanalp hadn't any problems to beat his competitors.
He's now only 3s behind yellow. With many, many luck he'll have a little chance tomorrow again, but the end doesn't argue for Abplanalp. So, probably he'll lose time again tomorrow.

13 vitories now for Jörg, best Swiss sprinter, ha!

Capaul's first time...

In an announced "Hilly circuit race in hot south chinese weather", which wasn't really hot but rather wet, Curdin Capaul celebrates his first success of his career. In a nice race without any clear favourite, he won the sprint of a 4-head group which reached the end together.
While Roman Stoll was again disappointing, Curdin took his chance and got his first victory. With his 25 years, it was time and we are happy that he verified being a winner type 8-)

Is it real?!

Incredible happenings last night at "Pais Vasco": Jörg Abplanalp beats Leandro daSouza!
For the first time of his career, he shows his ass to "unbeatable" Leandro. After a strange race, Jörg was able to overtake his rival by taking his wheel in the final sprint.
So we have now a hard battle for the green jersey. Several riders with chances to win it.
What happens on today's stage?

Another exploit at Paris - Roubaix

As in the year before, Falkenbier could win the monument in northern France. Similar to Hando Kaju's victory 2009, Kuuno was the strongest sprinter of a small groupe of 9 riders, which arrived together in Roubaix.
After a 2nd place in Vlaanderen and an insufficient tour Pais Vasco, the team is very happy to celebrate Kasendi's great victory. After his win in the first race and the Estonian national championship race win, it's only the 3rd one of his career, but not comparable to the others 8-)

We're just happy :D

Two wins in two days

After a nice win of Aleksei Veremko in Rouen, where he could win the sprint of a 3-men group, Jörg Abplanalp dominates the sprint of a big group at the German classics race "Rund um den Turm" - which changed his name another one into Rund um den Finanzplatz... - and celebrates his 15th victory of his career.
It was a very high-speed race, with a group of about 30 riders in front and the peloton behind. After a gap of ~1'40" after the last hill, they came back to 20" at the end of the race. A little bit surprised of good help in front, we had no problem to take this win at home.

New PR boy, new riders, old unsuccessfulness?

Long time ago since the last press release of Falkenbier. What happened? The team did not have enogh money to pay their PR manager, so he was fired by the top management. But now, we are proud to announce that a new PR student will do this work for a pittance...

What else? After a very successful Tour de Suisse (4 stage wins), Jörg Abplanalp (3 stage wins at Tour de Suisse) leaved the team earlier as planned. He did not see a future in our team. Some troubles with the management and also with his team colleagues gaves him a good reason to resolve his contract with the team. With his 19 wins, he is actually the most successful rider the team ever had, and we are very thankful that he was part of Falkenbier for a long time.

End of August, three other great riders leaved the team. Roman Stoll (his career ended here), Dragomir Rotaru and Paris-Roubaix winner Kuuno Kasendi. All three riders were important riders for the team, especially the highlight of the year: Kasendi's exploit in Roubaix. The corner stone of this success was made in the trainings with his forerunner, the great Hando Kaju (winner of Paris-Roubaix 2009... hehe).

In the meantime, many new and young riders joined the team:

Image Kaarel Hargi
23 years old and already with some successes for our sprinter: Stage win and points jersey in Luxembourg!

Image Nikolay Kalakin
22 years old, first time a real time trialist in our team. Also successes for him. the youth riders jersey and 2nd place in general classement at Limousin 2010.

Image Miguel Minguez
22 years, had no longer a contract with iBanesto, so he joined Falkenbier. Nice decision, a great helper (maybe capatin sometimes...) for our team.

Image Sergiu Sandu
22 years, hopefully our future leader in hilly races.

Image Vitali Volosjuk
23 years, not very good in training, but with his speed on the finish line, useful for us.

Image Kilian Wenger
21 years, the Schwingerkönig is also a very talented cyclist and joined Falkenbier. Together with Sandu our future man for hilly races.

For more details of our riders, go to the front page...

Hargi surprised everyone

Second win for Kaarel Hargi in his 34th race. He won the mass sprint at the race "Memorial Rik Van Steenbergen", a belgian category 3 race. Alhtough a lot of better sprinters (formal) participated at this race, he won through against all the others. This success pushes him on the top of all actif estonian riders and on top 3 of all U23 riders all over the world.
Well don, Kaarel!

Hargi saves the month

After many unsuccessfully races this month, Kaarel Hargi did it again in yesterdays massif sprint in the dessert of France... or where it was. the whole team is still too drunken to remember where they were. There was just this crying cock in the early morning.
Anyway, we're proud to have Hargi in our team. 3rd win for him, another one surprising and lucky to not have someone of the strong competitors on his back in this sprint. With this success, he now has already more wins on his ledger than his one-legged "friend" from Lichtenkiesel, Mr. Lorenz Dürr. Great! 8-)

Minguez!!!

He is the man of the hour in our team. After his first win of his career on Thursday, he did it again in today's race. Both times, also the second place was taken by a Falkenbier rider, first time Ritzmann, and today it was Vitali Volosjuk, who won the sprint in the two-men group behindl Minguez.
The peloton was small, but some sprinter teams to control the race were in it. So the team tried it first with an escape with Prokopenko and Wenger, but the group doesn't work very good, and the tempo in peloton was very high, so it was clear that this group wouldn't have any chances. So the tactic changed, and we tried to solve Wenger over the little 8% hill on km 173. At the same km, Volosjuk splittet the field, so that no sprinter could stay in the first group. Wenger then fore the downhill till km 179, where Ritzmann took the tempo of the front group. And he enlarged the gap more and more, until it arrived one minute, 20 km to the end. So we was sure that the winner of the race is in this group, but with RC Ostfriesland, we had a better sprinter as Vitali in it. And so we tried it with an attack on the *cobblestone at km 206, a doble attack of Minguez and Volosjuk, succesful! It was just Horeste Hernandez who was able to follow Volosjuk. Bad that he has 68 in sprint. 5s behind this duo, Minguez was riding alone. In front no tempo of each of the two guys. So Minguez attacked a second time from behind, and he surprised Honorez and Volosjuk, so the last 2 km were just a pleasure for him. Good boy!

Vitali "Volo Wollsocke" Volosjuk with his first win!

The "Tour of Okinawa" was a really special race. Bad weather, long distance and only 7 riders in a team, looked very hard. But then, this race became crazy. Funny attacks, much tempo in peloton from everywhere, so that we hadn't to work a lot for our very good chances. Easy controlled race so, till a few km from the finish, a little hill, 3%. A group of about 15 riders in front, Capaul and Volo from Falkenbier in it, also some other teams with two riders there, but Vitali the best sprinter, so Capaul was working for him for a while, so this little hill. Attack by Qian (bad ape team), Volosjuk, two riders from portugal team and one of suedteam followed. No Capaul, he was enjoying the spectators mass and missed the group. Bad guy! So there was Volosjuk in front with the two portugals and the other sprint sausages. The group reached the finish line together, Qian opened the sprint, on his wheel Volosjuk. With his enormous sprint power, he didn't let any chances to the others. First win for him, the 6th for Falkenbier this month!

Historical happenings during Sheikh

Kaarel Hargi has made history in the past days in the desert. His second stage win at the tour was the 100th of the team all in all. With a second stage win at the tour and other great performances against well-known competitors, he won the sprinters jersey, the 3rd in his career. Nobody else in history of Falkenbier reached this number of "green jerseys".

Two stage wins from Kaarel Hargi and another one from Curdin Capaul made this beautiful and fantastic designed tour to a real success for our team.

Successful week in Down Under

Kaarel Hargi wins his first tour! With one stage win, two 2nd places and a 5th place on stage 5, where the team was able to outdistance the other sprinters and just lost some seconds to the classic riders, he didn't had problems to win the tour in the end. With a strong team, we were able to control the races for not losing important time.
After the win of Gabriel Heinze on the first stage, the pink jersey was in our rows the whole 6 days. First 3 stages for Heinze, then Hargi was overtaking it on stage 4, on which he was able to win the sprint. With the 2nd place on the last stage and bad sprints of his competitors of the green jersey, he took the sprinters jersey as well out of this Tour Down Under.

Conclusion:
- Tour win of Kaarel Hargi
- 2nd place in general for Gabriel Heinze
- 3 more top 15 places in general for Minguez, Ritzmann and Wenger
- Green jersey for Kaarel Hargi
- 1st place in the teams ranking
- 2 stage wins
- And of course a lot of money

Swiss Champion For The First Time!

It's the first time in RSF history of Falkenbier that one of its riders won the swiss national champion jersey. After reaching the crown of the Schwinger, Kilian Wenger now shows us his multitalent and wins the swiss cycling championship by a great performance in the end of the race. He finished the race solo, after a strong attack on the second last hill 10 km to the end. Nobody followed him and the peloton wasn't able to got him back.
This was his first career victory, and an important one. After the lazy trainings of the past weeks, this result was needed.
