Two new riders are promoted in the pro team for April !


The OLcycle academy of young riders runs since the Start of 2010, and this month, the director of this academy, the ex-rider of OLcycle Renzo DuMarnier says "I think that two young riders in our team are ready for the professional races. Sure, they need to learn so many things about the Group1 peloton, but i'm sure that these youngs boys can do it !".
The newcomers are 21years old, one is french, the other one is peruvian, the traditionnals nationalities in OLcycle now !


Bastien Desglands, 21ans, french.
He did a 2nd place in the stage2 of the tour de Noël for U21. And he's the french champion of cyclo-cross 2010 U21 ! He won this race last month. Today his speciality is the downhill but he wants to become a nice complete rider, "I want to clib well, and continue to do good stuff on the flat and the downhill !". Something like 60-80-76 can be interesting !

Zelambo Cucharro, 21ans, Peruvian.
He won two races in March, the best peruvian classic for U21 : La classica de la Pena. And he won the first stage of West-Vlaanderen for U21 ! But he did a mistake the last day of this tour, so he looses this tour for this reason, bad Zelambooooooooooo !!! His goal is to become a good classic rider, something like 65-8? can be interesting.

A calm race, not a big fight for red. In the end, some attacks, good block with grandlac. And after that Timothée blocked on the 6%. Arturo did his first attack on 4%, two guys followed. Timothée did the job for Arturo in the climb and the downhill. Arturo did a double attack (like yesterday) to crosse the line alone. What a hard day ! Big offensiv by Astana with 4-5 riders in front in the two big hills. After that he did the choice to try gk+stage with the two classic riders. 1&2 for the stage, 3&4 for the gk ! Congratulations ! For me a big chase, i kill all my team. And Arturo had to take his responsabilities in the last hill because he needs 20" before this hill to keep hi yellow. He took 40", excellent And the 4th place of the stage ! Nice !

This year nobody really has a superteam like Cerro had in 08 and to a lesser degree Skullz in 09 (less mountain than Cerro) Grandlac, Vencho in the hills are good enough, somebody like Sasille with 75 pavé can stay in front fairly long even with only 53 mountain, usually 50-55 mountain probably will not be dropped to early anyway... so JiJoon and Vallejo Llosa would have stayed in front a while too. then Chellis with 60 mountain good too. Yes, the team is not perfect, as usual you miss the 60-80 to really be able to protect your leaders well, but a team with

would have had good chances. Del Pozo with 80,7 pavé, 60 sprint and 67 mountain can win. It's a Flanders rider, was sure that was the reason you had him in your team... then why do you have him if not for Flanders? Of course no guarantee to win, Flanders can go different ways depending on the teams starting... a 60-80 pavé star like Frick and Bakaev can win, a 60-80 with sprint like Dupoing can win, even one with less pavé like Ph. Guggisberg can win, a 70-80 can win, more pavé and more sprint better, but not absolutely necessary, a flanders rider like Del Pozo or Langendries can win. And, maybe even some idiots with 70-70 but 70+ sprint can win if the race isn't hard. Hope not though... But the big advantage of the Del Pozo/Langendries/Vendenbroucke (can't start hehe) type is that they can't really be dropped anywhere. 60/80 top pavé like Frick, can be dropped in the hellingen, 70-80 with not so brillant pavé can be dropped in the pavé sections, then have to chase... Del Pozo etc. almost can't be dropped. And on the Muur and Bosberg (real stars win on the Bosberg like Eddy van Hoydonck) they are probably among the strongest (never sure about those things, even after so many years) plus even if they don't arrive solo, with 60 sprint, chances are always there!!

VERY bad decision IMO. Yes, all for Roubaix, ok, but Del Pozo is more of a leader than a helper, with his 81 flat in Roubaix he can't do much to protect deLeon at the end, put him 100 form for Flanders, and try there too, he would have had good chances... as good as De Leon in Roubaix I think.

Yes, i know i did maybe a mistake, maybe not. Because, this yeat during March nothing was good during the classics, I tried to play on all tables during this month, that was THE mistake. (ok crash of my computer, one week without RSF, but that's not an explanation for all).
I tried to think a bit. I wanted to try the classics this year, again. But now i'm sure that i'm not a great manager in classic races, i really prefer the tours. Ok, i'm maybe not bad on some classics, but what I prefer that's the tours. So, i'll have pleasure on RSF, and tours are more interesting than classic (with 80% of waiting time). So, newt year, i won't try to have a team around classics riders, and gktours riders. Just gktour riders, and if some of my classic riders are not bad in Beneluw, ok, i'll have fun on Belenux.
So, for this month i only want Paris-Roubaix, i don't know if I will ride others classics, but the most important classic in my mine is Paris-Roubaix, so each year, i'll ride Paris-Roubaix, but the others no if there is an intersting tour in parallell.

I know that everything you said is right, i can have a good team, with good chance to do a great result. I know it's not the best way to keep a lot of points and prestigious victories to stay in settimana lombarda ... but this year I don't take pleasure on the classics (in March), so I won't ride lot of them in April.
Some things can change my opinion later, a nice win or a super classic race ... i don't know, but for 2010 it's enough, Paris-Roubaix, it's all !

And if he didn't, i think i attacked before, in flat, to keep time in the flat, before the little last hill. Today my team is dead, your team too. You did a great show with nice results, i did a good defensiv stage, with a good result. I think everybody is happy (except the guy who lose the 3th place GK, by your fault ^^).

GIRO 2010 ?


After the excellent Settimana Lombarda for the team, we are disapointed with the 6th place of Cieza at Roubaix. We're sure of something now : have good pavé skills are useless. Not necessery to be one of the favo to win on a pavé race. What's more, when you're favo, and you work for your pavé monster leader you can win only if you've 5-6 80+pavé guys, or if it's an excellent sprinter. The pavés are not enough selective for an hard race. The reals pavés leaders can't have better chances than outsiders if they hav'nt a team of legend to do the job !
So, now, adios the fucking classics for OLcycle !
The team want to do his first giro this year. We're sure of nothing about the participation, but this year we maybe can have the opportunity, and the voluntee is here ...

For the end of April, we will do our best to win a race or two. To win money, because we need new youngs talentuous riders in OLcycle.
And, the newcomer of 1st May is the young Yann Laflèche, more informations about him in the following weeks.

Yann Laflèche will join the professional cyclist group next month !

The news is official !
After his 3rd place today in the Amstel U21, Yann Laflèche was conviced that he has the level the join a professional team.
He signed his new professional contract during he meal after the race this evening.
The contract is for 3years, and 5 additionnal years if the performances are good.
The young french rider is happy to join a good french team. He wants to "do the Tour de France ! That's my goal since I'm a child"
So, he prefers the middle moutain areas, with short selective hills.

Last Race for Alinmoer Steryov !

The oldest rider of the team have decided to stay in the North of the Bretagne after the Trobonbon !
His wife and 6childs are already settled in a small village near Lannilis.

This guy was the perfect flat rider of the team. With a maximum of 88 flat, he helps a lot for Irmai Shatyf, and recently for Ulises Arguello for the massiv sprints !
But, sometimes he escapes, and one time, after a beautiful attack he reached to finish lane alone, first ! That was during the tour of Britain, in York (September 2009). He kept the yellow jersey against the sprinters all the tour, and he lose it the last day of the tour, his best week of rider during his carreer (1906 eternal points) !

Now, the team will miss him, because the muy estupido Horacio Sasille was really bad during the trainings, and he's only 85flat ! A shame !

Have a long life in Bretagne dear Alinmoer !

The current legend of OLcycle, Gabriel Grandlac, ends his career !!!

He won yesterday the red jersey of Romandie Tour, his 4st red jersey !
He says he will do one or two race again before stop definitly the races. He won't go on the Giro "I'm a bit old for a 3weeks race, and my spiritual son Benoit Chellis, will be better than me in this Giro". His program to conclude is : Zhejiang Cycling Cup & Luederitz inferno & Oberpullendorf -Oberpullendorf. No leader, just an helper. Just to do some other points.
So, for him "my best victory is maybe the general classement of the Tour Med, but I really liked the stage of Nice (Paris-Nice10) and the Okinawa 2009".
Sometimes leader to follow the best classic riders of the group and try to beat them with a good sprint skill (65-62), sometimes free to keep the stages in or the red jerseys, Gabriel is an eternal fighter ! Now he will stay in the OLcycle team, to become the new special coach of the new classic riders of OLcycle "I said that Benoit Chellis is my cyclist son, yes, I really like him, and I hope a great career for him.
