Tommy Teleshopping Pro Cycling Team

Post by Tommy Teleshopping PCT » Mon Oct 01, 2018 10:05 pm

Here follows an announcement by the Tommy Teleshopping management team.

By the beginning of this season (October 2018), the team will be riding under a Latvian license. Recent performances by the Stringas brothers in la Vuelta sparked interest of agricultural company Barības Maisījumi Utd from Latvia. Lazy riders and parasites were kicked out and replaced by young Latvian talents. As of the first of October, the rooster will be announced in short profiles.

Günther Golberbühler (AUT, 31)
A respected domestique with a nice pedegree. Nephew of the legendary Wilhelm Golberbühler (of the Golberbühler technique fame, when he beat Srnicek in 1984 in the Pan-Alpine games), Günther Golberbühler decided not to take up the blowpipe and chose the bicycle.

With his skills as a rouleur, Golberbühler won the U17 Ronde van Scherpenzeel and the U19 Rund om den Vlister Mühle in his hometown on this very bike, where scouts of major teams were alerted. Golberbühler could have gone to iBanesto.com and Rabobank, but wisely chose to join the Astro TV Opleidingsploeg, affiliated with Tommy Teleshopping. A couple of seasons ago, Günther Golberbühler joined the main outfit of Tommy Teleshopping. His most noticable result is his second place in the Austrian Championship, after team mate Wilhelm Küchenwaltz.

Aureliano Invicto (ITA, 32)
Marquee rider of the Tommy Teleshopping outfit is without a doubt Aureliano 'Sword-in-Hand' Invicto. In the highlands of his native Dolomites, the surprizingly tall son of an army general met his calling as a cyclist. Winning the U13 Giro di Dolomiti (and all 4 stages) as well as the first and last U16 Bergamo-Besenello over the famed Stelvio, Gavia, Rettenbachferner, Mortirolo and Via Scanuppia where he attacked his oppponents with a dashing jump on Malga Palazzo's steepest section.

Image
The very corner where Invicto distanced his rivals

Because he is such an alround awesome guy, Aureliano Invicto decided first to focus on his studies as ancient historian before joining the Pizza Mama Mia - Limoncello outfit on trial. He won his first two races for that team and got second on his third, prompting management not to sign him citing poor performances. After this short stint, Invicto joined Tommy Teleshopping as team leader.

It took a while before the climber started winning, but at the Sibiu Tour, he scored his first victory for Tommy Teleshopping. He did not manage to keep his yellow jersey in the time trial, but established himself as the most beloved rider in all Radsportfreaks. His later victories at the Championship of Issyk-Kul and Naryn near the ruins of Carthage and, more recently, Almaty, brought tourist numbers to Tunesia and Kazakhstan to levels never seen before.

Now, at 32, Aureliano Invicto will remain the prime leader of the outfit and is expected to win most mountain races he joins, by his sheer force of presence. A true and veritable descendant of Roman emperor Aurelian, his big hero.

Report: GP Ermash

Tommy Teleshopping:
41. Aureliano Invicto (ITA)
42. Günther Golberbühler (AUT)
43. Wilhelm Küchenwaltz (AUT)
44. Uladzimir Rutenka (BLR)
45. Meinrad Schöpf )(AUT)
46. Jaspers Stringas (LAT)
47. Vytautas Stringas (LAT)
48. Wilberts Stringas (LAT)

This Uzbek race had the hardest part at the halfway point where Uchkatli Mountain had to be conquered. From the start, a big group with Jaspers Stringas and a very active Uladzimir Rutenka got a little lead, but cooperation in the group led to a break up with Stringas in front and Rutenka dropping.

On Giza Mountain, SV Furpach's Kali Jacobus broke up the peloton at the back and a group with Aureliano Invicto got past the Stringas group just before the top of the hill. Stringas managed to find his place in a second group where all other riders were distanced. 7 riders built a 5 minute lead to a group led by Celteam.

Furpach's leader Vignir Svavarsson tied to have a go with more than 50 km to go. On the final Ermash climb, Svavarsson got caught by the climbers Orlando Olivieira of Celteam and Armin Meier of Rasmussen. Invicto dropped a group of contenders with an attack at the final incline and claimed 3rd place.

55. Jurgis Viikmäe (LAT)
56. Vytautas Stringas (LAT)
57. Wilberts Stringas (LAT)
58. Tobias Uichalschak (AUT)

With the team starting to look red-white-red of Latvian and Austrian flags, we see the debute of Romanovs, Kalns and Viikmäe in this Belgian race. A nice opportunity, because Belgian races are considered to be unimportant by the team management "Because Belgium does not really has a cycling spirit: when three friends ride their bikes to school or work, Sporza television will broadcast it." Apparently that was relevant, thank you.

Anyway, because the manager'd been sleeping and the riders did not take initiative themselves, a large group was already almost half a minute out when Günther Golberbühler and Wilberts Stringas tried to bridge across. The duo failed and was brought back in the peloton. The lead group got a 4:30 lead over the pack when a combined effort of several teams started reeling them in. By the end, another group bridged the gap. Wilhelm Küchenwaltz tried to follow but lost the wheel.

The group never got a big lead and with only one kilometer to go, it was gruppo compatto
again and the riders were ready for their mass sprint. Arkadius Romanovs got inside behind the Opera train and Estonias Serguei Koidula from Rosario. It was Koidula that managed to take a surprize victory. Romanovs finished 5th in a field of established sprinters. A nice result for the young sprinting prodigy.

Modris Kalns (LAT, 21)
Modris 'The Mountain' Kalns is the first of the new Latvian riders that joined Tommy Teleshopping when Barības Maisījumi Utd started sponsoring the team. The sponsor demanded Latvian talents and with Kalns, it is Latvian talents that they got. The rider from the village of Vestiena showed his promise riding around the Gaising, the highest mountain of his country. From a very early age, he started climbing to the ski station and working on his skills.

Not much time went past when the Astro TV Opleidingsploeg first decided to offer a contract to the youngster. At first, Kalns refused because of something an imposing looking man in a green uniform said, but not much later, he did join the team. Now, after two seasons in the Opleidingsploeg, Kalns will join the main outfit. With Aureliano Invicto as perfect mentor, Kalns will first be the main mountain support rider and later perhaps race for his own prizes. With a decent time trial potential, Kalns is expected to win the Giro, Tour ánd Vuelta in 2019.

Big transfer announcement - Tommy Teleshopping signs Kerijs Zeidmanis

Yesterday, tensions between Tobias Uichalschak and Tommy Teleshopping management burst when the rider yet again announced his intention to leave the team and join Rapid Vitesse. "It happens Wednesday after Tobias does his side job," trainer Jans Janssens told The News, "but this time he was serious and violent."

Image
An artist's impression of Uichalschak's side job vehicle

Uichalschak had not been a very successful rider. In fact, he is considered to be the poorest rider in recent history (after Belgian Leif Hoste quit). Combined with his abysmal behaviour and violent conduct, Tommy Teleshopping management decided to fire him. Uichalschak indeed signed a fourteen year deal at Rapid Velocité, the criminal branch of the team he wanted to join.

Now that Uichalschak had left, the team immediately signed Latvian talent Kerijs Zeidmanis. The 21 years old rider joins from the Latvian Association of Psychopatho-analytic Biogeometrists at Riga University Pro Road Cyclingteam. Already famed to be the next Küchenwaltz, Zeidmanis signed for the pro team and is expected to make an immediate impact.

46. Jaspers Stringas (LAT)
47. Jurgis Viikmäe (LAT)
48. Kerijs Zeidmanis (LAT)

This race was just for the sponsors and what the sponsors want to see is attacking young Latvians, so the young Latvians Juris Viikmäe and Kerijs Zeidmanis attacked in a group of 5. As happens often, there was no cooperation in the group, so Zeidmanis tried to go on his own and took quite a lead over the pack that caught up with the Viikmäe-group. Halfway the race, there was an attack by Big Donkey's Hiroshi Matsuishi and Hiroshi Matsushita with Tourmalet's Mauricio Pirone in the wheel. The trio caught up with Zeidmanis, but never managed to drop him.

With the lead growing to five minutes, in the peloton Trekken Racing tried to organise a chase and got his cooperation, but with the strong Hiroshis in front, the lead did not go down fast enough and against all odds, a battered and broken Zeidmanis launched a long sprint in an effort to surprize the group. He did get overtaken though, but could be very happy with a 3rd place. In the peloton, five seconds back, Arkadius Romanovs did not play a major role.

Short update about the new printing press
Recently, the team announced a story about Aureliano Invictos victory in Kyrgyzstan. Due some problems, the printers apprentice messed up the printing press. She was planning to go to the airport for some trip.

Because of this failure, this part of Invictos profile is just a sequence of random letters and signs. Press secretary Vladimirs Popovs explains: "If you let an infinite number of monkeys play with a typewriter for an infinite time, somewhere, between all the randomness, there'll be a complete poem by Shakespeare. This is what happened. The randomness delivered 'His later victories at the Championship of Issyk-Kul and Naryn near the ruins of Carthage and, more recently, Almaty, brought tourist numbers to Tunesia and Kazakhstan to levels never seen before. Fuck you Tommy! The Song contest is cool, no matter what you say!' before I detected it. What are the odds?! I only had to remove the last couple of words."

An honest mistake. Later today more news on Jurgis Viikmäe and yesterdays race.

58. Jurgis Viikmäe (EST)

This was an interesting race where at km 1 a rather large group with Wilberts Stringas and Jurgis Viikmäe attacked and gathered a large advantage. The group fell apart a couple of times due to attacks by TeamSWE's Alessandro Sarezzi who went on his own and got a minute on the group. When a tired Viikmäe and his other pullers quit the chase and the leaders started riding, Sarezzi was reeled in. Carrera Blue Jeans rider Sergio Bombini beat the others in the sprint with non-sprinter Stringas 6th and Viikmäe 9th.

With about 40 km to go, Uladzimir Rutenka and Jaspers Stringas made a break from the peloton, aiming for places 11 and 12. That was a success. Other guys were not so lucky as those were reeled in by a favorite team, acting like frustration took the best of him.

Jurgis Viikmäe (EST, 22)
Jurgis Viikmäe was born in Riga, Latvia, as the third son of an Estonian wage laborer in the mines or something, and a wealthy Latvian bank manager. As a child, he always excelled in a lot of things, especially things of a moral or ethical nature. He helped old ladies across the street and gave money to the poor. When he discovered his love for the bike, he turned our to be a loyal and capable helper. One with a lot of talent.

In the youth categories, Viikmäe repeatedly helped his team leader to the greatest victories one could imagine. Later, he showed his valour, saving a spectator that fell off a bridge when he rode by en route to his first big victory in Kaunas-Riga. Because he saved the little boy, he missed out on his victory, but was rewarded the Medal of Excellence by local authorities.

An alround wonderful little man, Viikmäe was. That was his weakness, because when his father died, his mother tried to make a monster out of him. She succeeded in turning her other two sons into economists, but Jurgis was stronger and decided to be a better man. While his bothers Lauris and Rodneys turned moneymen, Jurgis kept his worth. This made his mother very angry.

Because he was such a good man, his mother did not want to have anything to do with him. She waited and waited until this week, when she told authorities Jurgis was not her son. Never been, never will be. You know how those economists are. Viikmäe was on his own. Because his mother had connections in high places, she managed to revoke his Latvian citizenship.

When one needs a hand and one is a good person, Tommy will be there to save you, so with a forged Estonian passport, Jurgis Viikmäe took a plane and joined Tommy Teleshopping. He will join the team as a domestique (because that is what he likes best) and as an ambassador for the Be A Good Guy Foundation. He is such a nice guy.

By the way, his oldest brother buys and sells import brides for the Western European market.

The race to San Luca hill was the first big climbers race for the new Latvian talent. With Aureliano Invicto as absolute leader, it was intended to have him supported by as many teammates as possible. For that, Wilberts and Jaspers Stringas tried to get in the escape group. Later also Wilhelm Küchenwaltz was in front for a while, but it was half way the race when the big breakaway went. Tommy Teleshopping was not involved.

Problem was that the tempo in the group was so high that the non-climbers werd dropped early on. Only Modris Kalns and on occasions Jaspers Stringas were in support to Invicto. Later on, Stringas did some chasing work before getting dropped on the San Luca hill. Most of the work went to Free Team, who used the hills to drop the people that could help him.

By the end, the lead group got just 12 seconds on the favorites group, with Invicto in 8th. Kalns showed his promise working and finishing 24th, with Jaspers Stringas also in the top-30.

This race was about a big break away with two Teleshoppers: Uladzimir Rutenka and Jaspers Stringas. With Rutenka doing a lot of work in the beginning, cooperation broke down half way when three riders including him were dropped on a hill. When they returned after some fierce struggle to prevent it by team Tourmalet, the peloton was getting closer. Yet again, the group broke, with Rutenka dropping again.

A smaller group with Stringas remained and tried to get to the finish. From this group, Stringas and one other rider attacked on a hill and were joined by a third. Another group from the peloton attacked the Stringas group and passed it on a the final hill. Stringas was caught by the peloton. The lead group of two did remain clear and Aureliano Invicto, Modris Kalns and Stringas finished in the peloton.

Today the aim was twofold: we needed a lead group with Teleshopping presence and Aureliano Invicto needed to be in front by the end. In the first km, the first objective succeeded, because Wilhelm Küchewaltz and Wilberts Stringas got away with three other riders. With favorite SV Furpach running the peloton, it took some time befor the group established a lead, but then it quickly went to over 6 minutes.

It was only when two Rasmussen riders broke free from the peloton in pursuit when Furpach woke up and started chasing a bit again. With a very active Wilberts in the lead, Rasmussen's riders nearly failed to bridge across. A little pity waiting by the compassionate lead group brought the riders across so they could help. The group was still over 5 minutes when the group got into the local circuit.

With Furpach still doing most of the work in the peloton, the lead started to dwindle an with 70 km to go the groupe started to pick up the pace. Soon Wilberts and two others were dropped and Küchenwaltz, Latvian champion Priekulis (Rapid Vitesse), Saggiorato (Rasmussen) and Freylinger (Team Suessem) kept in the lead. Out of pure laziness, Saggiorato started relaxing the the back and watching the others do the work. "The scenery was great, but I wish those guys rode more slowly, especially uphill," he stated after the race.

Two Rosario riders and three from LENNAO made a break from the peloton in what LENNAO's manager [name geben 284992] called "harakiri" during the race and "bukkake" later. This group came to one minute from the Küchenwaltz group when the other red-white-red-champion Priekulis made his move on the final uphill section of the race. This happens exactly when a maacaque crossed the road, just in front of Saggioratos wheel and almost made him crash.

Priekulis took only a couple of seconds on the second group while in de peloton, all hell broke loose and Furpach's Vignir Svavarsson unleashed his turbo. Only a very select group with Invicto was able to follow. With just a couple of kilometers to go, the group too over the Küchenwaltz group.

With just one kilometer to go, the group split again and six riders went away. Invicto was not able to follow and neither was Küchenwaltz. Svararsson beat Joost Drost in a surprize victory while Invicto won the sprint in the seconde group at just one second.

Today was one of the main days of the month, The race with the uphill finish at the top of the steep climb to the Superga Basilica. The aim was to have someone or two riders in the break away. The big break formed quite suddenly, so only Jaspers Stringas was able to join it. Because the favorite team Liquigas-CND did not initially chase, the group got over 8 minutes.

It was actually a quite boring race with 11 riders in front and Liquigas killing off rider after rider when he started the chase. Half way across, with a 6 minute advantage, the front group split and dropped the helpers. Six riders were left, including Stringas.

With the two Superga climbs fast approaching, the group showed excellent cooperation, because everybody was so respectful of the great Stringas. Stringas personally lead the group over the first Superga climb. The group acted like a triumphal procession behind their general, but it was not quick enough.

In the peloton, Liquigas put their main helper, Humberto Carillo, in to crush the competition. Aureliano Invicto managed to follow easily, but the group in front lost a lot of time, so Stringas and Rasmussen's Daniel Von Flüe intentionally dropped to the peloton to help their respective leaders.

Between the hills, it was SV Furpach's Svavarsson that attacked and took a small lead, but the favorites took him over and dropped him. The group split with invicto losing the wheel, but he fought back and rejoined the leaders.

Invicto had the right wheen of Bernard's Didier Leresteux, but just when he tried to launch his sprint, behing one rider a portal opened and a demon straight from hell appeared to block his path. It took Invicto just that second and a half to defeat the demon. Leresteux was gone by then, leaving Invicto to finish second.

Images by Latvian TV clearly show the demon with a Golden State flag, so who's to blame?

Today was a certain mass sprint, so a job for Arkadius Romanovs to ride for a top-10, if possible, but first there was a break away of a group with Jurgis Viikmäe and six others. The group was within reach, but the sprinter teams in the peloton started bickering amonst themselves about who was going to take the group back.

For this reason, the advantage kept growing and growing and short stints of one rider in the chase could not prevent the group from taking a massive lead of almost 20 minutes. It was only when groups started escaping from the peloton in search for eigth place, that the peloton responded. Attacks by multiple Teleshopping riders failed this way.

The group in front had all the time to relax and enjoy the scenery until a couple of km's to go when the pace started to go up. Viikmäe, the least sprintery type of the group, was not able to attack and found himself in a sprint where 4 riders contended for victory. Viikmäe was first to launch the sprint, but was countered by the other three with Rasmussen's Daniel Von Flüe taking victory and Viikmäe finishing fourth. Un unexpected success for the young rider.

The race of the fallen leaves was Tommy Teleshopping's first monument and the aim was to get Aureliano Invicto as far as possible. With Colma di Sormano and expecially Civiglio in the end, the climbers could make a move.

A small group went and today and today it was problematic that another team than top favorite Lorient put riders in tempo to reel in the group. Günther Gulberbühler did a couple of kilometers before the Ghisallo before being dropped and leaving the race like many other Teleshopping riders.

Just before the end of the Sormano, a group went away and Jaspers Stringas went too, hoping to survive the steep part and be of help to Invicto and Modris Kalns. Stringas did not get far though. It was up to Invicto to try on the Civiglio climb. He got a little gap with one rider. Sadly, another group took him over and in the city of Como dropped him. Afvorite Lorient's Man Imun won the race. Invicto finished 6th.

Wilhelm Küchenwaltz (AUT, 31)

One of the initial riders at Tommy Teleshopping is Mister Breakaway Wilhelm Küchenwaltz from the tiny village of Gries im Sulztal, Austria. Not much is so say about the cycling prowess of the Austrian national champion, so we'll talk about his academic pursuits instead.

Little Wilhelm was kicked from primary school for being "too smart for his good" according to his teacher. By the age of 8, he discovered the ruins or Akkad in Mesopotamia and by the age of 11, he discovered proof that there is a black hole in the center of Andromeda galaxy. By the age of 14, he decifered the programming code made by Daniël Krol and by 15, he even started to understand women. Now, at 31, he dedicates his energy to curing diseases and discovering stuff.

As a cyclist, Küchenwaltz is famous for his failing tries to win races from a breakaway. When Teleshopping signed the rider for his hilarious name (Küchenwaltz is derived from the same proto-Germanic rune that also Brabantian 'Koekwous' is from), everyone knew what would happen when a group broke away: Küchenwaltz would be in the group ánd the group would be brought back.

Image
Wilhelm's cousins Gerrie and Barrie who insist on calling him Willie

It was Austrias Nationalmeisterschaft when Küchenwaltz had his finest hour, because he took his first and only win that day. A rider broke away and it was Tommy Teleshopping who had a perfect tactical choice, being great and all. Günther Golberbühler and Küchenwaltz bridged across, keeping the gap small, but not zero, until the other rider broke. First Golberbühler attacked and late Küchenwaltz joined him and won by a sprint. Very awesome now.

Now that Küchenwaltz is an established legend, he keeps asking more and more money to ride. That cost him his appearance at the Vuelta and a couple of other races. That does not make the arrogant twat a less important rider. It was Küchenwaltz who created unflattable tires and Gianni-Moscon-resistant shoulderpads for the riders. Since that day, RSF riders hardly ever have flat tires and nobody ever crashes. But thakink him? No way. People are nasty!

An interesting race for our team. It started with a couple of flat kilometers and a complete mountain range before going downhill and having two hills in the finale. The clear favorite was team RC Cost with the world's best climber in Aloysio Maia. Still, Aureliano Invicto did not find himself chanceless. But first things first.

A large group with Jaspers Stringas and Wilhelm Golberbühler did their thing. They did not get too much of a lead and it was not before the group collapsed from within with most riders dropping. Jaspers Stringas was one in a new group of 5 that fought themselves over the Col de l'Echarasson. Finally, just three riders remained to cross the mountain range.

With a lead that never got bigger than 3 minutes, the group never had a real chance against an in-control RC Cost while Aureliano Invicto only had deluxe domestique Modris Kalns in support. All other riders were lost by then and decided to quit the race en masse.

By the Côte St André, two riders from Freudenfeuer escaped from the peloton and bridged across to the lead group. By then, Stringas decided to let himself drop to support Invicto. All was to be decided on the Côte de Rochechinard where Kalns tried to make tempo, but was countered by Maia, with Invicto in his wheel. When the group looked to slow down a bit, with one kilometer to the summit, Invicto gave his all and attacked.

Invicto got a small lead, but was unable to fight against 3 RC Cost riders. By the end, he was caught and passed by two. In the sprint, Invicto went early to get 5th, a decent performance.

As so often the case in Flanders, the race was not at all interesting. Nobody attacked until by the very end when Big Donkey's team tried to stop JoyRide to take an easy victory in the sprint. Uladzimir Rutenka was inolved once, but for the rest the team kept quiet and waited for the sprint, because JoyRide kept the peloton together. Next time, the first 140 kilometers will be simulated without any action to save time. There was a winner, by the way. And Arkadius Romanovs was third.

Italy: hilly country, but this race was not so much a climbers race, but a race for the strong men to survive. Interestingly, Aureliano Invicto and Modris Kalns were the best two climbers in the field with Invicto leading by a big margin. That could play in our hands, but the climbing would be over by the half way point.

Tommy Teleshopping decided to have Jaspers Stringas and Wilhelm Küchenwaltz in a big initial break away. In response, the peloton took up pace, inspired by favorites Celteam. A bit of tempo by Invicto on one of the steepest sections of the Cantoneira climb broke the peloton in many pieces and left some of the sprinters screaming for their mothers. When the dust settled, the group with Küchenwaltz and Stringas was brought back and a 30 man lead group with Invicto and Kalns formed.

Celteam was strongly represented in the group and did most of the work, while Kalns had a brief stint solo in front before being brought back. A second peloton was three minutes down and working. Sprinter Arkadius Romanovs was there, along with some helpers. The gap was slowly closing without Teleshopping having to do anything in either of the groups, especially when the second peloton broke again, leaving Romanovs with only Vytautas Stringas in support.

With less than 50 kilometers to go, the two groups merged. A third group with Uladzimir Rutenka and Günther Golberbühler contained some of the top sprinters who couldn't manage the repeated breaks and surrendered. With a short while to go, a group of 7 riders went clear.

They took over a minute before they started bickering amongst themselves. It was Fraegg's Thor Hushovd who attacked and got away with just a bit of doubt in the group. He quickly took a lead and was never brought back. The rest of the lead group was. In the final kilometer, another group broke free and fought for the other places. Surprizingly, Küchenwaltz was there, following a sprinter's wheel. He sprinted to 7th and just one second back, the peloton finished with Romanovs taking tenth.

A race with only two Latvian riders in the team, but a team with attacking intentions. In the first kilometer, a 9 man group broke clear of the bunch. Teleshopping was there with Wilhelm Küchenwaltz and the tortured Jurgis Viikmäe. But Viikmäe can take a lot of suffering, so he did a lot of work in the beginning, taking the group over the hills and out of reach of the peloton.

With Viikmäe being most prolific in the work and being the alround awesome guy in the group, he personally inspired a great cooperation in the front group. Two riders dropped from the group to be swallowed by the peloton, but the group went all the way to the finish to sprint for victory. Ian Hamilton was fastest with Küchenwaltz third and Viikmäe sixth. The first peloton came in at ust shy of one minute and a half.

This race led from the mountains of Montenegro to the harbor town of Croatian Dubrovnik. Like in Sardegna, earlier this week, the start was hilly, but the finish was easier. The aim was, again to have a presence in the lead group and then to get either sprinter Arkadius Romanovs or climber Aureliano Invicto to the finish, depending on the race. The Stringas brothers Vytautas and Jaspers attacked after a few kilometers to join with a two man group.

The group took a lead of about 5 minutes on the pack before several teams in the peloton started working to bring them back. At the top of the first hill, the group had only a handful of seconds on a first group with most favorites. Just after the hill, the group surrendered and the Stringas brothers focussed on supporting Invicto in the peloton.

Notably absent was Modris Kalns who was behind a break with some team mates and with sprinter Romanovs. It was soon clear Romanovs would not fight for victory today, so Teleshopping worked for Kalns instead. Kalns made the connection himself just before the peloton started upping the pace. His mad dash brought him over the second climb first.

The lead peloton was soon strengthened by a group including Kerijs Zeidmanis making it four Teleshopping riders in front: Invicto, Kalns, Jaspers Stringas and zeidmanis. Vytautas could not keep up and ended up in a larger group with the three remaining teammates. On the last big ascent, the front group broke and only Kalns and Invicto remained in a 16 man favorites group. Jaspers Stringas looked like he might have been able to bridge across, but poor cooperation by Celteam prevented that.

With about 30 kilometers to go, the group fell apart again on the last steep section of the race. Invictos last helper, Kalns, was dropped and could not return. Invicto was in a 9 man lead group as the only full-on climber between the classic riders. For Invicto, the group had to remain intact or Invicto had to be able to get away on the short hill, 10 kilometers from the finish. The group broke up just before that hill and Invicto could not keep responding.

While RTS Cycling's Florian Ender rode away, the other members of the group started attacking each other. This broke the climber and Invicto was dropped and finished 7th.

Because I have Ziggo internet (until november 17 when I go to KPN), my connection keeps dropping. I had a full report on today's race, but don't feel like retyping it all over again, so a short one this time.

A short race with 14 rounds around a short and steep hill. Aureliano Invicto was the big man with Jaspers Stringas as the second one. it took a couple of kilometers before a three man group with Wilhelm Küchenwaltz and Uladzimir Rutenka got away. With Rutenka doing all the work, the group took and kept about a minute advantage on the peloton until all hell broke loose over there. The group split in two and caught Küchenwaltz. Rutenka was dropped.

Now with Küchenwaltz, Jaspers Stringas and Modris Kalns in support, Aureliano Invicto found himself in a small group.

Bushido was the supposed code of honour for Japanese Samurai warriors. This guy though, is German rapper Bushido and he has not so much to do with the code of honour.

A second attack brought Stringas to the fore with two riders. This group never looked like gunning for victory because the peloton reacted. On the final hill, Invicto attacked and bridged across. A small group was there, but two riders were gone.

One of the two riders, Pedro Caicedo, seemed to be sure of the victory, but he was brought back by Luis Amunategui. Amantegui won in the sprint. Invicto sprinted to 5th place.

A tough and interesting race, but not so much one for Teleshopping. Goal was to have a shot at escaping and then try to support Aureliano Invicto. It started difficult and there were not Jaspers Stringas and Wilhelm Küchenwaltz, so it'd be hard for Kerijs Zeidmanis and Jurgis Viikmäe who failed to get in the group. Another group did go. Four riders did so and they were joined by four more. In the peloton, with RS Coesitz doing most of the work, 4 Teleshopping riders were already dropped.

After 60 kilometers, it was clear that Invicto only had trusted Modris Kalns left in support and Vytautas Stringas and Zeidmanis, the other two riders, soon joined the grupetto. Wit RS Coesitz doing all the work, the advantage of the leas group that shrank to 5 and was filled with some more riders, never really got away and was brought back after about 150 km. Invicto and Kalns were both in the group.

Just before the final couple of hills, a 5 man break broke away. Later 4 others went and prompted Kalns to respond with tempo. He brought the group to a couple of seconds from the second group, making it possible for Invicto to attack past that group. Invicto was never able to bridge across to the lead group and was caught back by one more rider to finish 7th. Kalns was 11th and the grupetto was outside the time limit.
