I thought it was about time to introduce myself to the wider membership of RSF.

For those of you I have not raced against yet, which is probably 70% of you, I am Bova. You will usually find me racing at 22:00 or 23:00 race times mainly occassionally I may appear in 21:00 or 24:00 races, but highly unlikely to appear in daytime or early evening races and I am English.

If you race against me and you are unsure of your english wording and I will hopefully be able to help you. I know it is a funny language with a mixture of strange uses of words from other languages with their meanings messed up, but bare with it guys as it is, as most of you know, the arbitruary language of the majority of on-line games.

Thinking of that some of the managers questions in this game do not translate very well, using on-line translators, from german to english (sorry Buhman), so I do not understand them enough to answer them.

Well then to my team of racing cyclists, which appear to be losing me more money than I make at the moment , either from silly tactics by me or from being in races where I get swamped by better teams. Be warned I am endeavouring to become a good manager and tactician so NoPik, OL and co the day of the english will come to RSF as well.

Hi there, welcome to RSF. Don't worry, languages are no problem here since by now we have not only Germans or French but also Italians, Belgians, Dutch, Polish etc etc... it kinda worked always !

Michael Tonini has terminated his contract with Bovakian-Nairn with immediate affect also leaving is Michel Chabineau.

His replacement is Angel Mendo from Argentina (60-81-50-53-55 Cob 70.2 Reg 45 aged 30). This change appear to have been brought about to tightening budget strings from the management.

Replacements lined up are Erik BoassonHagen from Norway (65-78-63-69-61 Cob 70.5 Reg 65 aged 25) and Mikael Zaugg from Denmark
(57-73-68-59-51 Cob 70 Reg 65 aged 30)

65 reg isnt exactly tightening a budget !

Salaries really make a difference. I might be able to attend races and not actually loose money if I don't get any points.

But it's still very (too!) expensive. You have to be a bit more careful if you want to develop your team

I will look into that more carefully over the coming months, especially on the basis of having helpers who are a reasonably good, but affordable and captain(s) that are needed for specific races or tours, who also do not drain the resources excessively.

You're probably off best with your one-day-race leaders (such as 70-80s, hillsprinters, sprinters, etc) having rather low regeneration, then classement riders with something between 40 and 55 reg (usually makes the deal) and some low-reg aswell as high-reg helpers in terms of salary managing. The question you need to ask is where you want to use the rider (one day races or tours) and how stage-winning chances will develop for this rider (as e.g. a 73-80 with 60+ sprint will probably win you some races and therefore usually works only a few kms during a race, his fellow 70-80 with 50 or less sprint will usually ride more tempo and might need more than 40 reg). Hope this helped for your future managing

Thank you Lizard. I have tried a few things already, but need to plan it out better and not buy replacements without thinking how they fit into what I think I could get the best and more consistent results from.

I have had some good tours, but obviously with the right (affordable) team members I could do better.

This also so the departure of Ehrensvard from the squad after a dissapointing time with the team. New find David Gordon replaces him.

Interesting transfer. Gordon is really complete, but maybe a bit weak in mountain for later. If he trains well, that could be a good leader !
You like riders with good (but not excellent) skills everywhere : Baliaska, BoassonHagen, Gordon. That's not bad, but they are expansive and they are not "killers", they will always be in top10gk and stages, but not really often winners. And under 70 (or 72) in mountain, they could be really weak in strong groups 1 ... so, not even in top10 because of the sieb.

Wholesale wage cutting takes place at Bovakian-Nairn.

The wage bill at Bovakian-Nairn has been reduced by around 50k per race in an effort to balance the books and aim towards a long term future of the team.

BoassonHagen, Zaugg, Discali and Ruiz were released from their contracts earlier today and a more workman like support of Schrodel, Nodari, Hammerback and Vansfarteern were brought in leaving Baliaska as the lead captain with protegé Gordon as his number 2.

The question will remain whether or not these changes will have the team reverse it's recent fortunes, though it is felt that a further drop to Division 5 will have to be endured before things can start to look up.

The final stage of Tour de Beauce saw Jarni Baliaska claim his first race victory and claiming his first points classification, but this still did not bring in the sponsorship the team required to keep their squad together.

From the squad that raced in Canada only Baliaska, Gordon and Schrodel remain the rest of the squad were cut and new support riders were found reducing the racing costs by another €40k. It appears in the reduction of the average age of the squad that Bovakian will be looking to keep these riders together for a few seasons to hopefully build his coffers up to create a versatile team in the future, "I am looking at a long term plan to ensure squad development and financial soundness" were his closing comments at the post race press conference.

Le Tour - Stage 5

August Schrodel gains first race victory as a five man breakaway is successful. The breakaway included Robin Magnin of Recein Nacidos who claim the Mountain Jersey and Thomas Vouclaire of Veeshan Team, who claim the lead in the General Classification. Schrodel, himself, missed out on the Sprint Jersey by 1 point and presently lies second for the Mountain Jersey.

Changes one changes three times.

Baliaska, Schroder and Gordon leave Bovakian-Nairn for pastures new.

Romain TheWolf, Ben Swiftman and Ron Talent come in as replacements. Maybe something will happen, but such good deals are rare as the team make over a million in profit in the transfer market.


Personal Note. My Licence runs out very soon, just after Burgos finishes, and as I am going on holiday shortly I will be taking a break from the game probably until the end of August when I might renew my licence.

I must point out I am finding some players of the game lack the sense to understand that some of us play the game for enjoyment and if we win that is good, but if we lose we really do not care. Comments about unnecessary tempo are sometimes made without taking into consideration that the team may have a tactic in mind that they want to try. It may not be the right tactic, but let the person learn from his errors. In some cases in may be that the team does not want the escapees to have a big break or in could be the case, that I have seen many times, of one or two teams helping another team to either a race win or a tour win.
I hope you all enjoy your summer breaks and I am hopeful that when I return the summer madness has left the game so it can be enjoyable again.
