Team Lidwinia - The Pride of Polynesia

Post by Team Lidwinia » Wed Jun 08, 2011 9:23 pm

Roster
Image Matua Ahuatanga (23) Time-Triallist
Much is expected from "Father Time" Atuatanga. Won all espoir time trials on any Polynesian island in the last 3 years. Now he's ready to be co-leader in short stage races.

Image George Barrow (23) Climber
Barrow is the new climber talent at Team Lidwinia. His aim is to get on top at the Giro and it's up to him to deliver.

Image Pekahau Haumiatiketike (25) Sprinter
Haumiatiketike is a support rider for the sprints and a decent sprinter for breakaways.

Image Gergory Henderson (26) Sprinter
New Zealand national champion Henderson will be the focal point for quick 'n easy money in the sprints and a lot of exposure outside Tuvalu.

Image Naingimea Itimaroroa (26) Time-Trialist
Itimaroroa is a helper that does very well at flat time trials and in support for lead riders.

Image Rahi "The Cobra" Kahausibware (22) - Rouleur
Known for his temperament, but perhabs the big star for the future of Tuvaluan cycling, which looks great with the money of Team Lidwinia.

Image Akelei Lamaalofa (23) Rouleur
Lamaalofa is a decent fighter and rouleur for flat and angulated races.

Image Alopua Penisula (23) Rouleur
The brother of the national football team captain and for that reason comercially interresting.

Image Kamehameha Rapanui (23) Hill specialist
The new luxury domestique with hoped of turning into a decent rider himself.

Image Okilani Sogivalu (25) Time Trialist
A decent cheap rider to fill the team and make money in time trials. For the rest, a helper.

Image Toakai Sopoanga (26) Rouleur
Widely regarded as the most awesome rider of Tuvalu. A good rider that has proven his worth a lot, while he will probably never win.

Image Fakatoafe Teikauea (23) - Rouleur
A talented rider with a happy future smiling at him.

Left the team after the 2011 Dauphiné
Image Martin Kleuskens (27) Sprinter
Left the team after he was caught using the wrong brand of mints. Sponsors were furious.

Image Majhid Abdolnaghad (34) Rouleur
Retired.

Image Jefta van Doorne (26) Rouleur
Fired for diciplinary reasons.

Image Amrish Hiralal (25) Hill specialist
Left for nationalistic reasons.

Image Iti Dakuwanga (33) Sprinter
Just left and never returned. Now spotted on the transfer list

Image Tofilau Talake (25) Hill specialist
Left because his wife did not want him to be away from the island too often.

Image Malietoa "Prutser" Malielagoi (26) Rouleur
Forced into IT Consultancy by local maffia.

Image Foukimoana Rongomatane (26) Climber/Time Trialist

06. 00:00:00 Majhid Abdolnaghad (Team Lidwinia)
07. 00:00:03 Martin Kleuskens (Team Lidwinia)
45. 00:00:03 Amrish Hiralal (Team Lidwinia)
47. 00:00:03 Toakai Sopoanga (Team Lidwinia)
57. 00:00:03 Foukimoana Rongomatane (Team Lidwinia)
58. 00:00:03 Tofilau Talake (Team Lidwinia)
65. 00:00:03 Pekahau Haumiatiketike (Team Lidwinia)
74. 00:00:03 Jefta VanDoorne (Team Lidwinia)
106. 00:34:25 Naingimea Itimaroroa (Team Lidwinia)
With second best sprinter Kleuskens in the peloton, the team rode hard and well to grab the group one kilometer before the line. At that time, Abdolnaghad attacked, but he didn't get a solo escape. In fact, five other riders were with him and with Abdolnaghad's sprinting skills, that means a sixth place. Kleuskens won the mass sprint for seventh.

40. 00:03:04 Amrish Hiralal (Team Lidwinia)
55. 00:03:04 Toakai Sopoanga (Team Lidwinia)
90. 00:13:29 Martin Kleuskens (Team Lidwinia)
92. 00:13:39 Majhid Abdolnaghad (Team Lidwinia)
95. 00:35:45 Pekahau Haumiatiketike (Team Lidwinia)
105. 00:38:37 Naingimea Itimaroroa (Team Lidwinia)
116. 00:38:37 Jefta VanDoorne (Team Lidwinia)
Another just-not-day. Talake and Abdolnaghad had been in the attack all day and got up to 8 minutes. But the peloton managed to get the group in the end. With Talake left in the group of GC favorites and Rongomatane just behind that, One rider managed to slip away in the final km and Talake sprinted to 8th. Rongomatane is still overall Top-10

Awesome performance by Rongomatane. I expected him to drop out of the top-10, but he actually managed to win a place and got top-10 on a HC climb. Hiralal and Talake had been in an unsuccessful group. Abdolnaghad is going to have trouble finishing tomorrow.

03. 00:00:33 Léon Anand (Sfr Erbach)

66. 00:17:15 Pekahau Haumiatiketike (Team Lidwinia)
75. 00:17:15 Amrish Hiralal (Team Lidwinia)
77. 00:17:15 Martin Kleuskens (Team Lidwinia)
90. 00:17:38 Jefta VanDoorne (Team Lidwinia)
109. 00:33:03 Majhid Abdolnaghad (Team Lidwinia)
110. 00:33:03 Naingimea Itimaroroa (Team Lidwinia)
It worked out as planned. I sent Sopoanga and Van Doorne away to get inside a front group. Van Doorne was involved in getting the advantage to 12 minutes and Sopoanga managed to get over the Croix de Fer to get there with Rongomatane to support him. Rongomatane controlled the losses and ended up 6th overall which is great.

DNF Malietoa Malielegaoi (Team Lidwinia)
DNF Naingimea Itimaroroa (Team Lidwinia)
A classical Post-Race criterium to get a little bit of money and try to get a result. Some of the riders were tired, but they had to ride anyway. Talake even had to attack again and he did. At the top of the hardest climb the group was caught and a new one went. Rongomatane waited and got the wrong wheel in the pack sprint. Talake sprinted to some points.

Tuvalu Times wrote:Lidwinia buys Tuvaluan sprinter Dakuwanga
FUNAFUTI - The Pride of Polynesia, Team Lidwinia, has bought a new rider with the intention to start winning more races. The name is Iti Dakuwanga and he is from Tuvalu. The 30 years old sprinter will replace German Martin Kleuskens who left the team shortly after an internal doping test.

While both Kleuskens and the team management are not allowed to talk about that test, the team management insists that the doping test is unrelated to the departure of the team's sprint leader. Instead team management proclaims that Kleuskens' departure is due to "breaking internal rules concerning the use of banned substances, referring to the banned use of mints of the brand Wilhelmina." Two packages of Wilhelmina were found in Kleuskens' hotel room just before the Rambouillet-Rouen race which is due for tonight.

Iti Dakuwanga (30) has been bought to strengthen the team for the race and the upcoming Tuvaluan championships, next week in Nukulaelae. He will immediately be the team's leader for Rouen and have a chance to prove his worth. Team manager L. Winia is delighted to have a leader able to go for the wins in the next couple of months. "I'm delighted to have a leader able to go for the wins in the next couple of months," according to Winia.

One piece of 6% made the race explode and Lidwinia clearly was among the losers.

93. 00:28:10 Tofilau Talake (Team Lidwinia)
Again, a fail for Dakuwanga who did not make a giant impression yet. With a support crew, he lost a minute at the first uphill section and never returned. Haumiatiketike had his first chance for mass sprint glory. Did decently.

72. 00:00:00 Pekahau Haumiatiketike (Team Lidwinia)
77. 00:00:00 Malietoa Malielegaoi (Team Lidwinia)
So Dakuwanga is a sprinter after all. The race was flat like a pancake and that suits him well. With one day to the Tuvalu championships, most of the work came down to Van Doorne who did well with the riders from Saecoteam and VicomtesLens. Dakuwanga ended just short to victory, but got his needed points now!

Dutch Championships
01. 00:00:00 Wilco Kelderman (NoPikouze)
02. 00:00:00 Niek VanDenOtten (SK Blu-Bardhe)
03. 00:00:00 Dylan Boomhut (NoPikouze)

05. 00:00:00 Wouter Poels (NoPikouze)
07. 00:24:14 Jefta VanDoorne (Team Lidwinia)

When I got online, I found Jefta participation and a group ahead with 25 minutes. Nothing really happened, but Jefta got top-10 for the first time in his carreer. With number 69 which is fun.

Tuvaluan championships
01. 00:00:00 Paolu Talake (Socca team)
02. 00:00:00 Tefau Teatu (RP KMT)
03. 00:00:12 Maati Toafa (leserein)
04. 00:00:12 Tofilau Talake (Team Lidwinia)
05. 00:00:26 Kinaki Marioka (Cantal)
06. 00:01:10 Pekahau Haumiatiketike (Team Lidwinia)
11. 00:04:11 Toakai Sopoanga (Team Lidwinia)
14. 00:04:33 Naingimea Itimaroroa (Team Lidwinia)
17. 00:26:40 Iti Dakuwanga (Team Lidwinia)
27. 00:26:40 Malietoa Malielegaoi (Team Lidwinia)
33. 00:26:40 Foukimoana Rongomatane (Team Lidwinia)

Just not enough. A group of 10 or so rode away and Itimaroroa dropped from the group to bring Haumiatiketike in front. Then Sopoanga and one of the Socca Talakes attacked but they were caught. Then Tofilau Talake was too late for the attack by Paolu Talake and Tefau Teatu en they went away.

Indian championship
01. 00:00:00 Hari Barman (lesossies)
02. 00:03:40 Bavesh Chintamani (Team-Phoenix)
03. 00:03:40 Raman Sadhu (lesossies)
04. 00:03:49 Léon Anand (Sfr Erbach)
05. 00:03:49 Balu Sherpa (lesossies)
07. 00:06:34 Amrish Hiralal (Team Lidwinia)

Lesossies had by far the strongest team. At first, half the peloton rode away and then and two from that team did.

Iranian championships
01. 00:00:00 Mohsen Hashemi (Modern Warfare)
02. 00:00:06 Jawad Azizi (NoPikouze)
03. 00:00:12 Masoud Zandi (NoPikouze)

05. 00:00:37 Javad Rezai (Modern Warfare)
13. 00:05:59 Majhid Abdolnaghad (Team Lidwinia)

Up and down and up and down... It happened to become a duel between NoPikouze and Modern Warfare with Nopikouze trying and Modern Warfare controlling and striking at the final km. Abdolnaghad was first of the second big group.

109. 00:10:45 Naingimea Itimaroroa (Team Lidwinia)
119. 00:17:02 Malietoa Malielegaoi (Team Lidwinia)

This was a race with a lot of intermediate sprints and hills, so it took a lot of fighting to get in the group. Abdolnaghad and Hiralal failed in the beginning. Talake and Sopoanga managed to get in the group which worked together and took about 5 minutes. When in the finale Talake and three others took off and the peloton broke up in pieces, it looked like Talake might take it, being the best sprinter in the group, but the group got back and it was a 30 man sprint where Rongomatane dit well.
