Tour of Guangxi

The dogs started at the Tour in Asia with low expectations and our full hilly army, McCulloch, Simmer, Harrison and Loeve. Our goal was to win at least one stage and have some fun. At the first stage Noah Harrison was attacking early and formed a small group with RS Spree rider Martin Irvyne interested in the mountain jersey and Matthieu Majerus (Gipfelstuermer) and Harrison interessted in the stage win. The GC favorite was offline and the sprinter teams were not fully focused on getting the group. We hoped to get about 2 min to win the GC but the sprinter teams reduced the gap even though the stage was gone. Noah could win the sprint in the group to win his 3 race and took over yellow with about a minute ahead of the peloton.

The days after Alive & Dead focused on minimizing the loss for Noah and get some good results. We could defend the yellow jersey until the mountain finish at stage 4 where the tour favorite Flurin Kuttin could win the stage and thx to the bonus seconds took the jersey with 7 Seconds ahead of Noah who was still in second place. He could than defend the second place trying to create chances for probably getting the yellow back, but the team was not good enough to create these chances alone and was depending on attacks from others. In the end a second GC place for Noah was very nice. Warren could also reach a second place on one stage.

Warren in good shape

Warren McCulloch was close to win 2 races within 13 hours. He could win yesterdays 23h edition of Ukranian "Horizon Park 2" against the Division 1 leader Lorient with a good timed following before the final steep km. The downhill skills of Warren and the flat power of Sachin Gandhi (olafscelts) was enough to keep a 2 seconds gap and Warren could win the final sprint. Todays race in France was also a success as Warren could finish second, just beaten by Akexandre Lehericey (Fdgames). Warren survived the last +7 and could attack in the downhill. He was 5 seconds in front of the classics group for the final +3. The attack of Alexander brought the 2 together and the sprint was close. Probably a final attack on the +3 could have saved Warren the win, but he was more afraid of attacks from behind and so hung hinself on a counter attack from there.

Warren continues with good results

Schrödinger's dogs start the Giro de Sardegna with some escape action of the Bajramovic bros and Noah Harrison bringing Noah into the red jersey for one day. In the end the peloton reached the goal pretty complete with the sprinter of Libery Sartene who survived the +5 +5 combi close to the finish. A&D train did well and Loeve finished 3rd.

Second stage Noah tried again to form a group for the stage win. But Dickson didn't really let the group much gap, than Palasteam joined for the white jersey and in the front group Liberty Sartene fought for red. Like that the group was done and A&D concentrated on the peloton (NOT) were Simmer forgot to fight and was distanced for about 2min. Warren was happier to survive without fighting. He attacked in the downhill and could easily finish second place in the -9 sprint.

Well that's a problem, True. But as long as I reach my 10 races 1 win record I am ok. But afternoon is boring with just this Kutti climber around!

Esad wins his 2nd race

Stage 4 of Giro Sardegna was the right place for an escape of the Bajramovic brothers. After the fights for the mountain jersey were over, the dogs used the right moment to form a group. Emir was pulling the group together with Pernsteiner (T-Mobile-A) and in the end Esad was the luckiest. He could win his 2nd race out of an early escape.

October-2020

Schrödinger's Dogs, Alive And Dead continues its march through to Division 1. The team could collect 3.748 points and completet the Division 4 Ranking with 7.605 points.

Points by riders (10-2020)
41. Noah Harrison, 830 pts, stage win Tour of Guangxi, 2nd place GC Tour of Guangxi
42. Michel Loeve, 819 pts, 2nd place Tours

Transfer news:

Out
Today Stefan Haugmayr was sold. He was bought from the transfer market at the age of 24 for the restart of the game. He was a cheap helper and he helped a lot in the peloton. Because of his 44 sprint he was not in escape groups that often but if he was mainly sent there as a puller for Noah Harrison (3 wins) or Esad Bajramovic (2 wins). He made 86 races and gathered 68 points. All the best for Stefans future

In
With the money we received a new young classic talent was bought and will join the team next months, Jacob Wolfowitz from Poland with starting values 56-74-76-46-55 75,5 pave, 39 reg. We hope he develops in the right direction! He will be our pave leader, stage race helper and classic squad member.

Warren wins San Francisco classic

First win in November. Warren wins 235km RSF classic in San Francisco. It was a small group but the actions in the field were worth a RSF classic. In the end Max Simmer and Warren McCulloch followed the right Donkey attackers and Warren kept the distance to the attackers from the back winning a 1:1 sprint against Izatullah Totakhyl (Big Donkey).

Warren equalizes the 3 wins by Noah Harrison and Max Simmer, Esad is still at 2 (he needs to win the next of course).

November

There is not much to talk about in November. The team was present every day and could win a lot of money. As the manager was distracted most of the month and did some major errors when it was about to win a race, there is just 1 race win in November. Warren McCulloch could win the RSF classic of San Francisco. Alexandros was close to winning many times including the last stage of Andhra Pradesh were the team was just 1 second away of getting the classic attack back. The tours in India and Marocco were not very successfull.

The team managed to win division 3 with 6.389 pts

Points by riders (11-2020)
45. Max Simmer, 726 pts
75. Warren McCulloch, 548 pts, win San Francisco classic
159. Alexandros Karatzoglou, 352 pts
161. Michel Loève, 350 pts
294. Arthur Rinderknech, 182 pts
319. Noah Harrison, 168 pts
333. Uwe Schöning, 162 pts
532. Sebastian Hirschmoser, 78 pts
593. Esad Bajramovic, 64 pts
959. Emir Bajramovic, 15 pts
1247. Andreas Kreutzer, 2 pts

Schrödinger's Dogs Rider of the month award goes to Warren McCulloch. For december our next classic rider joins the team. The Polish youth rider Jacob Wolfowitz with nearly perfect start values of 56-74-76-46-55-75,5 39reg should become a flat strong 70-80. With his good cooble strength he should be our leader there too! Welcom Jacob. (Probably adding a second youth rider)

December

The month was bad. The team could collect 5082 points to become runner-up in Division 2 just beaten by Hansa. Next season will be the first one in Division 1 since our restart with the new Team "Alive And Dead" and we will fight for relegation from the very first day. In the final days of the December tour 2020 Michel Loève managed to win a stage out of an early escape. Despite from that no palmares entry for our team and no real leader in the team so far. Also finance wise we underperformed in December with +1.719.342 the team didn't manage to win 2Mio for the first time since September.

Points by riders (12-2020)
36. Warren McCulloch, 644
96. Max Simmer, 418
112. Michel Loève, 410
178. Alexandros Karatzoglou, 283
217. Noah Harrison, 258
324. Uwe Schöning, 183
468. Arthur Rinderknech, 108
652. Jacob Wolfowitz, 46
743. Emir Bajramovic, 42
825. Esad Bajramovic, 31
1072. Sebastian Hirschmoser, 8
1161. Andreas Kreutzer, 4

Rider of the month
Rider of the month award goes to Michel Loève for avoiding a desastorous month with the one and only stage win in Hawaii.

Transfers:
The U.S. American youth talent Lance Fortnow joined the team on 01.01.2020 and already rode GP Letzebuerg showing what he is supposed to do in 2021 at our team: RIDING. He starts with 49-71-77-47-54 51 Reg and will train to become our next 60-80 superstar. With his reg and sprint comib he can also go in early escapes. Welcome and a nice 2021 training to Lance

Team Captain signed contract

In the previous days the team officials were thinking about recruiting the Belgian super climber Emmanuel Thirifays. The negotiation already started but Friedrich Hund stopped it to enforce a new team doctrine that says "Only own grown riders, NO EXCEPTION". So a new future captain has signed at A&D who will start in February and will be presented in the January post.

Announcement Statistics

The team also announces that there will be some year 2020 statistics published soon. Our team data scientists will provide some good looking graphs and numbers when they are ready.

Ha noone bid on him and I overpaid a bit, but I was pretty desperate already to find a tour leader for 2021 and I had the money, so why not. Would present him but still not 100% sure about name/nation.

Transfer news

First it was planned to present our stage race captain for 2021 in the January post, but we think he deserves his own presentation post. The team will try to rise from the dead with a real leader for medium stage races with hills and TT. Franz Schwackhöfer will follow Kevin Paillegrenier's footsteps as our new Leupold type rider. He has good starting values and we hope he can build on Kevin's successes for the team Dead & Alive (4 stage race wins, +3 podiums, 1 youth rider classement, 2 stage wins)

Statistics 2020

Post by flockmastoR » Thu Jan 28, 2021 8:13 pm

Statistics 2020

Welcome to the 2020 statistics series. Our team will publish some interesting new statistics for the comeback year 2020. The work has been done for the last couple of weeks, whenever some time was left. The goal was to implement a framework that can produce figures for the next months and years without turning the screws too much. All these numbers and figures were produced semi-automatically from the race logs that are provided in the (flash) version of the game, so let's hope this feature will stay in the up-coming new game.

Distance survey
First we start with the survey that has been startet more than a week ago in our presentation thread. The question was:

What A&D rider did ride most km in 2020?

Races were the rider drop out of the race are just counted till the point of dropout. All in all we received 7 votes and you voted like:
3x Emir Bajramovic
2x Esad Bajramovic
1x Noah Harrison
1x Sebastian Hirschmoser

In the chat we also had estimates for the total of km of the leader.
Big Donkey (voted for Hirschmoser): 18.694
Hansa (voted for Emir Bajramovic): 24.383

In fact nobody voted for the one and only, the clear winner:
MAX SIMMER: 22.472 km
nicknames: Max Power, Magic Max or just "the parasite"

Here is the full squad with more interesting stats:
rider_overview.PNG
rider_overview.PNG (36.1 KiB) Viewed 5158 times
Legend:
Race Boni: The rank of a rider is given points independent of one day race/stage or cathegory, the points key is [1=100, 2=80, 3=60, ..., 30=1]
Tour Boni: The final GC standing with the same points key as in Race Boni but with an extra 50 points for each won jersey
Road Boni: The total number of collected points on the road at Intermediate Sprints or Mountain Points.
Boaz Trakhtenbrot:

I also voted for Emir. But as a late evening team this was not a bad guess I think.

So the best guess was mine with Noah? Do I win anything? ^^ Maybe a lesson in statistics?

Really cool to do this from the race logs. Seriously, where do you find the race logs for all stages from tours? Or you were disciplined enough to copy&paste that after each stage? And how do you create a useful data table out of the racelog? You havs a script/code for that?

Would be nice to learn from you.

True to that, was also surprised, would have voted for Emir too. He was always there and attacking most of the time. The dropouts made him lose it. He was in most races were the whole team was dropped (because of offline, forgot about the race) and he is more likely dropped early in one day races he started unfit. That was the difference to Max Simmer who did 1 race more and was more or less captain when he started.

We can talk about what you "won"

Thx for your feedback. That's in fact the part that comes from the SEMI-(automated). The race logs are copied and saved to a .txt file, the filename consists of further methadata like date, starting time, race name, cathegory and other stuff you will see in the next part of the statistics series. The rest is done by a script and some classes all written in Python. In the flash version you can go back to each race log for several months, but you need to remember your participations. Better to copy it right after the race from the race page. I just started to collect it in November, so I had to go back some months. That means click on results and check for participation (hard part are the races were the team dropped out due to offline manager). One thing that doesn't work at that point are TTT (its easy to detect TTT or TT because there is no sprint in the log, but TTT is more tricky and not implemented yet, so some individual results come from TTT)
The Code is designed to work for other teams too (just change a global teamname variable and a variable were all rider names are provided), but as the race logs are hard work to copy with all metadata from flash version I didn't try to do it.
I hope the non flash version provides the race logs, because I could automatically derive these information for other teams too.

I can share my project to you, but at that stage you still need some basic coding experience or understanding. Lets see how the new verion develops, if it helps or if the logs are not given anymore after the races in the future.

For one-day races, yes, I know where to find the racelogs.

But for tours? Where do you find the race logs from all the individual stages?

If luques had them, would indeed be nice to get access somehow. Either he can share the data somewhere or put it into the new version one day...

Could be interesting. My Python knowledge is a bit 'rusty' but I am doing a lot with VBA, Stata & Matlab, which are also nice tools for extracting information. So might prefer to do it in a different tool/language than you, but generally a very very nice idea! If we only had all the data...

I'd also love to do a PowerBI project for this and publish it. It's a really nice tool for creating dashboards...

I mean, people in this game LOVE statistics...

... but first need to get the data.

Click on calender -> race editions -> select your starting time and click on the tour (Overview of tour with profiles, etc) -> click on the far right column (as in one day races).

All in all you just have to be able to read txt files and search for specific patterns in it. Problematic part is of course the data. I chose Python because I like the data visualisation packages and I needed a little project to improve my Python programming.

Looks like we need to create a topic where we can talk about such things.

All in all you just have to be able to read txt files and search for specific patterns in it. Problematic part is of course the data. I chose Python because I like the data visualisation packages and I needed a little project to improve my Python programming.

Looks like we need to create a topic where we can talk about such things.
OK, thanks for that. It seems I have some work to do in order to improve the Gipfelstuermer statistics! :D

But now back to topic.... when does Max "the parasite" Simmer retire? So annoying a guy like him... Most km, most races, but only 33 attacks! This guy is a real parasite hiding in pelotonI At least now I know why I voted for Noah! Much more active rider!
