EROICA RACE SERIES 2024
The theme of the real event is vintage cycling, with participants using vintage bikes (up to and including 1987), accessories and clothing, and the route often including unpaved roads.

EROICA CUBA (Caimito, Artemisa)
Starting from a flat area through Caimito and Artemisa, red dirt roads full of sugar cane fields, banana plantations and small lagoons until we reach Las Terrazas, the only self-sufficient town in Cuba. Natural paradise of the Biosphere Reserve, cradle of Cuban coffee, known as the Garden of Cuba, we cross hills like jungles until we reach the coastal area of Cabañas to begin the final stretch back to Caimito. rsf tip: Kill your opponents at Loma La Caridad and then go full speed towards Caimito and win.

the race of the EROICA Series 2024 takes place in the enchanting area south of Siena between the Val d'Arbia, the Crete Senesi and the Val D'Orcia, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2004. "True heroics will fall in love with this path! Get ready to sweat and enjoy as much Heroic as you can imagine", says the organizer.

A race of the 2024 Eroica Series offers a 97-mile adventure for cyclists drawn to the beauty of fatigue. With 8 sections of white road, "over 7,500 feet of incline and approximately 30 miles of Strade Bianche, the route challenges the bravest to maintain courage despite all odds," says the organizer.

L'EROICA - EROICA GAIOLE CHIANTI

really fine retro race for the EROICA SERIES in Toscana - called L'Eroica, has a lot of dirt road sections - usually ridden on old racing bikes :-)

Distance: 208.4 km
Elevation: +3,863 m / -3,865 m
steepest hill 11% others around 7%
White road: 17 gravel sectors, always half * and half ** - so in the end of the sector its getting harder.
Some sectors have asphalt passages due to more than -3 paves. Tried to move the missing gravel in front of or behind the sector.

I Like the races and the presentation. Would love to ride this races. Series dont needed in my opinion. I never look at series.

Good effort in the design and presentation with all details ;)

No idea how this could fit in the calendar, but having them planned all season long could be an idea. Unsure the challenge would make sense if that's not a big thing ?

I like the series, too. Those pictures are pretty cool and I remember riding in Tuscany with my road bike on such roads.

AAD and I have accepted Schartner's idea, and we will incorporate the races. As it's only 1 race per month, and we like to have at least 1-2 gravel/pave races each month anyway, it sounds realistic. Calling it a 'series' is mostly for the fun of it. World Tour, Winter World Tour, Eroica Series, etc... it's only for fun and glory anyway :)

Having said that, the races will only be Cat.1 and have low priority vs. real races of course. So we will just squeeze them in wherever we see fit and also the number of editions might be limited depending on the calendar.

Now, if we give a bit of extra glory to a series, some criticism on the profiles is also important and, at best, in a constructive way. What I can think of right now:
- Attention to detail is key for realistic profiles.
- Gravel being */** and never more than ** is a good start (it's the case as far as I can see)
- Detail of the climbs have been shared, but not for all profiles, maybe Schartner can add that
- Percentages of the climbs should potentially be double-checked. For example, Dürrensteinhütte, is there really a -4 ? Or is it some imprecise GPS or bridge/tunnel? Happens quite often that GPS is a bit imprecise.... So it is always a good idea to check at least one more source (Cyclingcols or quaeldich for example).
