Campeonato de los Andes 2015

Post by Alkworld » Sat Aug 29, 2015 8:41 am

After all those flat GTs, it's time to think about something a bit more hilly, the Campeonato de los Andes. Now I don't know, if Cerro already has a Campeonato in his drawers, but I certainly don't. So my questions would be:
1) Cerro, do you have something ready?
2) If not, do you want to design one?
3) Anybody else interested?

I don't think I'll have enough time this year to produce a worthy Campeonato.

Yes please :) Just have a look at the old editions of the Campeonato to get a feel for the spirit of it. And be careful with the maps in South America, as they are not always as good as they should be. And if you have questions or need some hints, don't hesitate to ask the forum here.

Looks like you´ve got the spriit :)

Stage 13 with 240 KM and KSP... puh, possible Alkworld would have done this to. :(^^

How much KSP at max? I fear SM will use this to win the Anden with a classico. Not sure this is the best idea I´ve ever seen.^^

I have a few comments.
- generally, you're close to spirit of the Campeonato :), but it still looks rather simple to me. I'm counting 9 flat or hilly stages (10 with TTT), but only 5 (6 with ITT) real mountain stages. I'd suggest to replace at least two flat / hilly ones by mountain stages
- I'm missing more real up-and-down-stages (something like Vuelta stages #11 and #16)
- be careful with mountain bonifications on pavé / dirt road, that hasn't yet been properly implemented by Buhmann
- one remark about naming of the races in race editor: use something like andes15_XX, that's usually the easiest for leso in the end
- finally one question about the Arica stage (#6): Is this Chile's border city with Peru? The city is right on the coast. Or are you only riding close to Arica?

But anyway, good work. If it wouldn't be the Campeonato, I wouldn't complain at all :)

I do complain and would even if it was not the Campeonato, since I always complain.

Stage 12 and 14 IMO potentially kill it. Stage 12, 34 km pavé... mostly flat. How much pavé? If it's more than *, it just risks giving the GC to a classic. And even if not, it will decide the tour between climbers. IMO flat pavé really has nothing to do in the Andes. More of it in stage 14... These 2 stages simply risk making way bigger differences in the GC than all the mountains before. Depending on how much pavé there is, but even if it's only 1, which shouldn't drop anybody... still not a fan of it really.

Thanks for your comments about this Tour.

I try to answer yours questions.
For the finish of stage 6 ,it is not exactly in Arica, but 20 kms on the east side ( not on west side, except if you want to swim )I can call it:
San Miguel de Azapa.
I can try to make this Tour more difficult, but i like to know the opinion of other people.

There is no cobblestones in this TOUR, sometimes, the road is like this :
Image
Only *, except on stage 13, **

Anden is a pur Climbertour - normaly. There should be more Climberstages as told above. And it should be crazy heavy. Thats the reason I only ride it once or twice.

I was using roads like this one as well and just left them as normal roads. One exception was Camino de la Muerte in Bolivia, which was 1* for historical reasons ;) The problem is that in C4F, climbers are just way too weak in their pave skills and pave sections therefore just have a way too big impact on the race. 1* is ok and on a climb can still be interesting IMO. 2* (or more) impacts the race too much.

If you like more climbers stage, i can change stage 11 and stage 12.

I can propose this :

Stage 11
Cohoni - Chacaltaya 197kms
Very hard stage . Kms 176 and 177, 10% and 17%. Last kms : 7 5 5 8 3 5 4 5 2 9 9 9 9% Altitude : 5160m
Image

Stage 12
Acachaqui - Putina 197kms
Image

I can delete all cobblestones roads except stage 13.

That looks like a good stage for the Campeonato :)

We need more mountain stages. At the moment these are too much flat stages. It needs mountains, mountains and even more mountains. Then in between there may be quietly sometimes a flat stage to the regeneration of the riders.

I find the cobblestones very interesting. It may not only become too selective, because this tour is, primarily, for the mountain drivers. They should be able to let off steam here properly. :D

Can I suggest to swap race 1a with race 1b?

The first week still looks very soft, basically there are only two hard stages (6 and 8) in the first week. Wouldn't it be possible to make one of the easy stages harder? That could move the balance to something more like the typical Campeonato.

Shitty, shitty... do it yourself next time. Or say what you don't like earlier. Or don't worry so much, it's only a game.

Of course it's only a game!

Unfortunately will be 3 teams in the morning and 4 in the afternoon....- That;s the spirit!

I am really thinking to stop playing but I am sure you all will miss my unique style and skills!

Why we haven't the chance to ride this Tour after 21h? I just can't understand.
