Post by Pokemon Club » Wed Oct 01, 2014 4:29 pm

It is the time for designers to create the biggest event of winter : the December Tour !

The winning tour will be played in December, the runner-up in January (rules and discussion : viewtopic.php?f=14&t=4378)

The rules for this topic are simple:

OkiTai Tour

As usual since 2012, Pokemon design his December Tour in Asia. After the fantastic Tour of Japan for 2012, and the desastrous Sri Lanka and India Tour for 2013, let's present OkiTai Tour, which take place in Japan - more specifically at Okinawa and Amami-Ôshima islands - and at Taiwan.

OkiTai Tour in numbers :
2 countries, Japan and Taiwan
2098 km, 878 km in Japan, 1220 km in Taiwan
5 flat stages
3 hilly stages
3 mountain stages
1 TTT stage
1 TT stage
37 GPMs : 2 H.C., 2 cat. 1, 7 cat. 2, 12 cat. 3, 14 cat. 4

OkiTai Tour st.1 : Tsuboya - Shido, flat stage, 139 km, mintact km 101.
Image
The start of the tour. A short stage, with all riders fresh, a sprinter has good chance to wear the first leader jersey. But not impossible for a classicman to trap sprinters too ! The final isn't so easy, we can maybe see a good fight for yellow !
KM 70 : SI
KM 102 : GPM 4 : 2 km at 6.5%, max 9%
Lasts KM : 0 3 3 3 2 -1 -3 -5 -2 0

OkiTai Tour st.2 : Miyazato - Kishaba, team time trial stage, 22 km.
Image
A TTT. A difficult TTT. Up and down during 22 km, the gap between favos won't be big at the end but...

OkiTai Tour st.3 : Tengan - Tengan, flat stage, 150 km, mintact km 140.
Image
Easy flat stage for sprinters, let's wait the MS.
KM 30 : SI
KM 90 : SI
Lasts KM : 0 1 -2 -2 -1

OkiTai Tour st.4 : Zakimi - Nago, hilly stage, 164 km, mintact km 121.
Image
Difficulties arrive, there are some hills during this stage, it will be hard for sprinters to survive at that, but it looks too hard for a man alone to win it. The victory will be probably play by a group of 30-40 riders.
KM 20 : SI
KM 31 : GPM 4 : 2 km at 5%
KM 70 : GPM 4 : 2 km at 6%, 7% max
KM 80 : GPM 4 : 4 km at 4.5%, 5% max
KM 86 : GPM 4 : 2 km at 5.5%, 6% max
KM 95 : GPM 4 : 2 km at 6%, 9% max
KM 107 : GPM 3 : 6 km at 6%, 11 % max
KM 122 : GPM 3 : 3 km at 6%, 9% max
KM 149 : GPM 4 : 2 km at 4%, 5% max
Lasts KM : 4 1 -4 -1 0

OkiTai Tour st.5 : Agarie - Oshittai, hilly stage, 176 km, mintact km 152.
Image
The last stage at Okinawa. Looks harder than the day before for sprinters, but a really strong one can maybe do it. An interesting up finish at the end.
KM 35 : GPM 4 : 3 km at 5%, 7% max
KM 43 : GPM 4 : 2 km a 8%
KM 75 : SI
KM 91: GPM 4 : 4 km at 4%, 6% max
KM 120 : GPM 3 : 7 km at 3.6%, 7% max
KM 153 : GPM 4 : 2 km at 6%, 8% max
Lasts KM : 3 5 -1 5 1 1 2 1 3 2

OkiTai Tour st.6 : Nakara - Yadon, individual time trial stage, 26 km.
Image
Goodbye Okinawa, welcome for 2 days in Amami island. First and last individual TT at program this day. It isn't simply, not sure a pure specialist can win it. It will be a good fight.

OkiTai Tour st.7 : Akaogi - Yadon, hilly stage, 201 km, mintact km 187.
Image
Last day in Japan, first real battle between favo I guess, leaders who are far in GK can maybe use this stage to make a comeback before the restday !
KM 69 : SI
KM 76 : GPM 3 : 2 km at 7.5%, 10% max
KM 90 : GPM 3 : 2 km at 9%, 12% max
KM 104 : GPM 3 : 3 km at 7.7%, 11% max
KM 131 : GPM 3 : 6 km at 3.8%, 7% max
KM 142 : GPM 2 : 6 km at 5.2%, 9% max
Lasts KM : -4 12 2 -11 1 6 3 -9 -2 0

RESTDAY
Byebye Japan

OkiTai Tour st.8 : Ts'ao-t'an - Han-tzu-liao, flat stage, 211 km, mintact km 202.
Image
Taiwan !!! Flat as a hand and...it is all.
KM 102 : SI
Lasts KM : 0 0 0 0 0

OkiTai Tour st.9 : Hsi-kang - T'ien-wei-tzu, flat stage, 237 km, mintact km 228.
Image
The longest stage. Sprinters will probably make it this day too.
KM 40 : SI
KM 97 : GPM 4 : 4 km at 4.25%, 6% max
KM 187 : GPM 4 : 1 km at 9%
Lasts KM : -1 -1 1 -1 0

OkiTai Tour st.10 : Taipei - Ling-t'ou, mountain stage, 209 km, mintact km 185.
Image
The start of the final tryptic.
KM 10 : SI
KM 67 : GPM 2 : 5 km at 6%, 10% max
KM 97 : GPM 3 : 6 km at 3.8%, 6% max
KM 122 : GPM 2 : 11 km at 3.9%, 9% max
KM 133 : GPM 2 : 5 km at 6.2% 9% max
KM 152 : GPM 3 : 8 km at 3.6%, 5% max
KM 189 : GPM 3 : 5 km at 4.8%, 8% max
KM 202 : GPM 2 : 5 km at 6%, 10% max
KM 209 : GPM 3 : 3 km at 5.7%, 6% max
Lasts KM : -11 1 6 6 5

OkiTai Tour st.11 : Lu-chou - Ho-t'ou, mountain stage, 200 km, mintact km 160.
Image
Second decisive stage, with a downhill finish. Some downhill road can be dangerous.
KM 60 : GPM 4 : 12 km at 2.6%, 5% max
KM 97 : GPM 3 : 4 km at 5.25%, 7% max
KM 116 : SI
KM 167 : GPM 1 : 8 km at 8.4%, 13% max
KM 189 : GPM 1 : 8 km at 7.1%, 14% max
Lasts KM : -13 -6 -9 -5 -6

OkiTai Tour st.12 : Yeh-ts'o - Shang-p'ing, mountain stage, 212 km, mintact km 190.
Image
The last battle. Honestly I hesitate a lot for this stage because of the temperature we risk to have in high altitude. December is a bit late but...let's hope weather will be good for riders this day.
KM 11 : GPM 2 : 6 km at 5.7%, 8% max
KM 30 : SI
KM 80 : GPM H.C. : 40 km at 6.4%, 13% max
KM 136 : GPM 2 : 8 km at 5.75%, 12% max
KM 212 : GPM H.C. : 23 km at 6.9%, 11% max
Lasts KM : 4 7 8 5 11 8 3 4 11 4 7 5 7 5 11 8 7 8 8 8 4 9 6

OkiTai Tour st.13 : Wan-t'an - T'eng-p'ing, flat stage, 125 km, mintact km 110.
Image
Last stage, to late GK winner parade with his yellow jersey. Maybe a last fight for points jersey too.
KM 95 : SI
Lasts KM : 0 1 0 0 1

OkiTai Tour end with this ultimate sprint, let's hope beatiful winners and fun with this tour !

Here is my December Tour for 2014 !

The tour will take place in Greece, in the continental part only (no islands or Peloponnese)

4 HC Mountain stages
3 Middle mountain stages
5 Flat stages (Yes 5!)
1 hilly ITT
1 TTT

Stages are saved as greece1 to greece13.c4f (greece4a and 4b for stages 4)

Stage 1 : Flat stage 191 km
Image

Only 1 6% just after half race, no more than 5% otherwise (last with 4 to go), quite easy for sprinters, last km 0%.

Stage 2 : Middle mountain stage 168 km
Image

Harder stage
Summit cat 1, is about 40 to go (12 km with 6% average, max 8%), last km -1%

Stage 3 : Middle mountain stage 121 km
Image

Hard but short stage, 3 cat 2 hills, last one is 17 km with 4,4% average, max 8%, Last km +3%

Stage 4a : Semi stage, flat stage 86 km
Image

Easy sprint stage, with slight hill at the end (last km 2%).

Stage 4b : Semi stage, ITT
Image

Hill Climb ITT, start 220m, finish 1440m, last 15 km are very tough (average 6,1% with 9% max).

Stage 5 : HC mountain stage, 156 km
Image

1 HC pass at halfway (20 km with 6% average, 13% max), then hill finish at the famous Mount Olympus, also HC (16 km with 6,2% average, max 9%), energy management will be the key after the TT !
3 last kms 5/1/4%, but the 12 previous aren't under 7%

Stage 6 : Middle mountain stage, 184 km
Image

1 HC pass before halfway (20 km with 5,8% average, max 10%)
Last cat 2 is short but quite hard (6 km with 7,6% average, max 11%), 3 flat kms in the down, last is 0%, a climber can win it if the classics are weak, last km 0%

Stage 7 : Flat stage, 118 km
Image

Quite easy flat stage, no more than 5%, last km is 1%

REST DAY

Stage 8 : TTT 55 km
Image

Hilly TTT with cat 2 in there with a 8/11/10/8 to pass, otherwise it's almost flat

Stage 9 : HC mountain stage, 139 km
Image

Hard stage, cat 2 quite long but not so hard, and HC finish, 13 km with 6,5% average, max 12% close to the end).
12/9/7 the 3 last kms.

Stage 10 : Flat stage 167 km
Image

Quite hilly start, but easy end, may be for escapers this one, last km 0%

Stage 11 : HC mountain stage 167 km
Image

Very hard stage, the king stage for me

3 cat 1 + 1 cat 2 and a cat 1 to finish (last cat 1 is 18 km with 5% average, max 10%, some down kms in it), and in the last downhill, 2 little uphills, 6/7% with 15 to go and a 6% with 5 to go, last km -7%

Stage 12 : HC mountain stage, last hard stage 198 km
Image

uncommon last climb, cat 1 climb, but 19 km with 4,5% average, and no more than 6%, km 182 to 195 is 5or 6%, 0/4/2 the 3 last ones, a strong classic can win it.

Stage 13 : Flat stage, 108 km
Image

Final criterium in Athens, circuit is : 3/-1/4/4/-4/-3/-2/-2/1 (9 km 12 times).

Albertine Rift Tour

4 Countries : Uganda, RD Congo, Rwanda and Burundi

2258 Kms (173.7kms/day average; or 185.2kms/day average without the TT day)

13 stages on 14 days (1 rest day)

Image

Weather info : Expect a humid weather, probably with some days with rain or heavy rain, but also simple sunny days. Temperature should vary between 20 and 30 degrees. Wind in altitude can be strong.

Classification of the days (to consider the points given for green) :

Mountain : 3 stages (5,9,12)
Hilly : 4 stages (1,3,7,10)
Flat : 5 stages (2,6,8,11,13)
TT : 1 stage (4)

Mountain classification :

HC Cat : 0
1 Cat : 2
2 Cat : 11
3 Cat : 22
4 Cat : 14

No Intermediate Sprint

Links of stages with % km by km.
I truly recommend you to check it, because the profiles themselves look flatish due to altitude in countries where the race takes place. Checking the stages one by one gives you a better look on the road profile.

Stage 1

186kms, Hilly
Mintackt : km152
Last sieb (6% and >) : km 155
Comment : A very steep hill in the middle of the stage (5 kms at 11.6%) where lots of things can happen. Last long climb is not very steep and with many flatish parts.

Image

Stage 2

248kms, Flat
Mintackt : km219
Last sieb : km128
Comment : Last climb between the Volcanoes is long but not steep, still, riders have to be careful of the 2kms at 5% that might cause trouble, especially thinking of distance that had been done.

Image

Stage 3

180kms, Hilly
Mintackt : km159
Last sieb : km173
Comment : Along Lake Kivu, it's up and down non stop. Even if not so steep all the time, this will affect riders at some point. And who knows, someone could have offensive ideas for such a day !

Image

Stage 4

35kms, TT
Mintakt : km1
Last sieb : (irrelevant)
Comment : We are on Lake Kivu, in the Idjwi island ! A 35kms long time trial is waiting the riders here ! The really hilly profile especially in the first 2/3 of the TT will make it not so easy to manage !

Image

Stage 5

161kms, HC Mountain
Mintakt : km120
Last sieb : km147
Comment : We go on the West side of Lake Kivu for the start of that Fifth stage. Stage is hilly in its first part with some steep parts in the firts climbs of the day, then, it get's more flatish until the end of the stage. Last Cat3 climb is 9% steep (2kms) and followed by 13kms of downhill, climbers that gave too much energy in the TT the day before could regret it and loose contact here !

Image

Stage 6

183kms, Flat
Mintakt : km163
Last sieb : km8
Comment : Flat stage in the valley North of Taganyika Lake. No difficulty, last km is 1%, a sprint or a break-away should make it.

Image

Rest day is happening after only 6 stages, as the first days were quite hard !

Stage 7

213kms, Hilly
mintakt : km 201
Last sieb : km140
Comment : A long stage to start second part of ART. Going through mountains in North West of Burundi, Up and down non stop, before the last section, a long downhill/flat part to Bujumbura. A stage where it's possible to see team make some moves from really far, or if the race is calm in the mountains, we could see a fight between different kind of sprinters !

Image

Stage 8

176kms, Flat
mintakt : km156
Last sieb : km22
Comment : A loop in the mountains next to Bujumbura before 150kms along Taganyika Lake to the South. Last 10kms are a bit more hilly, but nothing to scare pure sprinters, finish still in Burundi but close to Tanzanian border !

Image

Stage 9

175kms, HC Berg
mintackt : km157
Last Sieb : Last km
Comment : Hard mountain stage, all in Burundi ! Up a down all way long, with some flatish parts. Final climb in 2 parts, with a final km at 15% ! Big time difference could happen here if the fight starts early in the stage !

Image

Stage 10

207kms, Hilly
mintackt : km176
Last sieb : km191
Comment : From South to North, from Burundi to Rwanda, country of hills ! And you can feel these smalls hills on the road, steep ones from km80 to km160, and soft ones at the end, still enough to make that stage a trap one ! Really open scenario here !

Image

Stage 11

190Kms, flat
mintackt : km 176
Last sieb : Only 5% on the way, no close from the finish line
Comment : A stage without big difficulties, even if it's flat, it's still a bit up and down (without sieb), sprinter's should have it in Kigali on stage 11, because the day after, sprinters won't have it in Kigali !

Image

Stage 12

112kms, HC Berg
mitackt : km1
Last sieb : km111
Comment : Is it the king stage ? Impossible to know it in advance, but what is pretty sure is that this stage will be spectacular and that everything can happen here ! Semi Urban circuit to ride two times, with steep climbs on the way, the valley parts are quite short. Expect fast, hard and crazy race. 1Min/km all stage long for managers !

Image

Stage 13

192kms, Flat
Mintakt : km168
Last sieb : km114
Comment : A flat stage to finish this tour, but not a totally flat one, few siebs possible in the first 114kms, and the final circuit is a bit hilly ! Teams might be tired after the mountain festival in Kigali, that final circuit might be stressful for some sprinters/gk contenders !

My december tour 2014: Mexico tour

As the title suggests all of the stages will take place in Mexico, in the center of Mexico especially.

Gc: Much is possible, but i think due to the length of some climbs the stronger climbers have the biggest chance to win it.

Road: The tour covers a total of 2040 km in 13 stages.

Weather forecast: Gentle weather, between 10° and 20°. (source: http://www.holiday-weather.com/mexico_c ... /december/)

13 stages in 14 days:
  • 4 Flat stages
    4 Mid-Mountain stages
    3 Mountain stages
    1 ITT
    1 TTT
Since some stages are on a big altitude, I advice u to look up the % from stage to stage. You can do this by going to this link: [*]http://www.radsportfreaks.de/radsport/p ... ension=c4f
With x being the stage u want to see.
By example:
http://www.radsportfreaks.de/radsport/p ... ension=c4f

Let's present stage by stage!

Stage1:

The first stage takes us from Jaltipan to Coatzacoalcos. Seems like an easy sprintstage and a warmup for most of the riders. Biggest and only difficulty is a 4% at km 136.
Mintact: km 124

Stage 2:

Second stage is already more difficult, some possibilities to sieb sprinters. Biggest threat is a 6% at km 113. But I still give biggest chances to the sprinters.
Mintact: km 135

Stage3:

First classic stage, the climb to Cordoba won't be too hard and not decisive but the combenation of the cat.2 climb and the pavés at the end will be decisive. Also tricky stage for gc favorites.
Important parts:
Cat.2 climb(161-164): 6 - 8 - 5 - 10
Last 4 km: 3** - 2** - 3** - 0**

Stage 4:

Fourth stage is a ttt, not an easy one but I don't expect big differences between the gc contenders.

Normally a sprintstage, but a 6% at 147 can be dangerous.
