After the success of Volta a Minas Gerais in 2014, brazilian federation of cyclism, with the support of Jean-François Pescheux, Aisaka Taiga and Kaga Koko, show at the public their new race for 2015, a 2 week tour this time :

Image Volta a Brazil Sudeste

The Volta visit the southest of Brazil, and principaly Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Minas Gerais states. We hope a race with a lot of moves so we try to profit as possible of Brazil geography and roads, especially, hills, mountains and cobbles. We hope a lot of people will enjoy in this tour as we enjoy to trace it.

Mountain passes and hills :
KM 123 : 8 km at 4.3%, max 9%, cat 3
KM 140 : 5 km at 7.6%, max 13%, cat 2
KM 161 : 6 km at 4.5%, max 7%, cat 3

Intermediates sprints :
KM 79, 2/3/3
KM 154, -2/-5/0

Lasts kms :
0/2/7/5/4/5/4/-5/-2//1

Comments :
This stage is too hard for sprinters, but not enough for a climber. A puncher will probably wear the first leader jersey.

Mountain passes and hills :
KM 116 : 2 km at 6.5%, max 8%, cat 4

Intermediates sprints :
KM 43, -2/-1/-1
KM 88, 0/0/4

Lasts kms :

Comments :
If sprinters collaborate normally it should be the first massive sprint of the tour.

Mountain passes and hills :

Intermediates sprints :
KM 60, 0/0/1

Cobbles sectors :
KM 149 : 3000m, 1 star

Lasts kms :
-4/2/-2/1/0

Comments :
Attention at the little hill at 6 km of the finish, but sprinters will probably fight again for the stagewin.

Mountain passes and hills :
KM 148 : 2 km at 7%, max 9%, cat 3

Intermediates sprints :
KM 48 : 1/1/0
KM 105 : 0/1/2

Lasts kms :
-1/0/0/0/0

Comments :
Again a flat finish, but the stage isn't totally relax. Looks a good fight between sprinters and an escape.

Lasts kms :

4/6/11/5/9/8

Comments :
First ITT, for a strong specialist, or possibly a climber

Mountain passes and hills :
KM 154 : 16 km at 9.1%, cat HC, 4/9/5/11/11/12/14/8/12/11/10/8/10/5/8/8

Lasts kms :
4/9/5/11/11/12/14/8/12/11/10/8/10/5/8/8

Comments :
First climb finish. Cobbles just at the foot of the climb risk to desorganize the peloton.

Image

Mountain passes and hills :
KM 130 : 15 km at 5.3%, cat 1. 6/3/9/5/6/5/5/8/5/7/3/9

Intermediates sprints :
KM 29 : 3/3/3
KM 79 : 1/0/3

Lasts kms :
8/4/8/-1/9/2

Comments :
Surely the last occasion for climbers to win time. Hard and long stage, but rest day the day after, climbers will surely control for thei win so.

Difficulties in the way aren't too hard, it is probably the last chance for sprinters to shine during this tour.

KM 165 : 6000m, 4 stars
KM 180 : 1000m, 3 stars

Comments :
Till now all stage will be decisive for GK. This day promise a hard battle in Ouro Preto. For the GK because all can happen, a big attack, a bad day day where you can't follow, a big sieb, all. For the mountain jersey because there is 89 points in the road.with this famous hilly cobbles with a passage at 20% to climb 3 times. And for the stage because not a lot know if they have the capacity to win the stage.

Comments :
With 24 km of cobbles, it is clearly a stage for pave-specialist, probably the race where climbers can lose the most of time, there will have big difference for sure at the end of the stage.

Mountain passes and hills :

KM 93 : 16 km at 5.8%, cat 1. 3/5/5/6/6/9/5/5/6/5/10/5/6/8/6/3

KM 190 : -1/0/0

Cobbles secttor
KM 212 : 8000m, 2 stars
KM 228 : 7000m, 2 stars
KM 237 : 3000m, 3 stars

Lasts kms :
-3/-1/2/8/14

Comments :
The last battle, so fight !

The organization assume the fact that there is a lot of cobbles. However, we don't consider Volta a Braazil Sudeste as a pave tour, and think that the balance is nice between climbers and classics for the GK and that a lot of profil of riders can target stages.

Hello guys, I'll present my EAC Tour (acronym of East Australia Coast Tour) :

The tour start in the northeastern city of Cairns, and the riders will go through all the east coast of Australia until Melbourne.

Let's start !

Stage 1 : Cairns - Cardwell (177km)
Image
No difficulty, easy sprint

Stage 2 : Ingham - Townsville (143km)
Image
A bit harder than the 1st stage, with a 7% to pass 2 times (2 laps in Townsville) at km 112 and 135 (8 km before the end)

Stage 3 : Gladstone - Bundaberg (188km)
Image
Another easy sprint stage

Stage 4 : Gympie - Caboolture (205km)
Image
A middle mountain stage with 3 cat 3 hills the last is 12/9% for the hardest part, almost 30 km before the finish, I bet we will have a late attack here.

Stage 5 : Caboolture - Brisbane (194km)
Image
An harder middle mountain stage, with a cat 2 in it (Mount Glorious), 9/15/10/9/4/7 for the 6 hard kms of this climb
The cat 3 close to the finish is 2/3/2/9/9 with the summit at 10 to go, the strongest classic will win here surely

Stage 6 : Gold Coast - Mudgeeraba (168km)
Image
4 cat 2 climbs, nervous stage ; the cat 2 before Beechmont is 6/-2/8/6/7/9/6, and the last is 2/6/9/5/10/9
20 to go after the hill, so a classic win probably

Stage 7 : Coffs Harbour - Gwydir Pass (166km)
Image
1st hill finish, no major difficulty before km 150, long but no so hard final climb, max % is 7% last 10 is 4/4/7/7/4/7/5/6/5/6

Stage 8 : Gosford - Sydney (218km)
Image
Ardennes like stage with the last 100 kms in or just around Sydney, last 11 kms is : 6/-2/-4/5/-3/-1/1/1/-2/1/2

REST DAY

Stage 9 : Wollongong - Bowral (175km)
Image
Mountain stage, last cat 2 is hard (10/8/10/10/6/6/3), and the cat 3 is 6/9/7 (and -5/-9/-5/0 to finish), a climber can win this one.

Stage 10 : Goulburn - Canberra (168km)
Image
Sprint stage, somme siebable kms at the middle of the stage, 1% finish

Stage 11 : Corryong - Mount Kosciuzko (172km)
Image
Mountain stage, cat 1 before Thredbo is 4/4/10/8/8/10/9/-3/6/11/7/8/6/7/4/5
From km 142 : 6/6/6/7/4/3/6/6/6/4/7/3/1/-7/8/6/-4/-1/2/2/5/4/-1/4/4/-3/-3/0/0/3/-2
Climbers have to ride hard to win this stage, but if there's no 80/80 classic in it, they should get the win

Stage 12 : Omeo - Mount Buffalo (176km)
Image
Another mountain top finish, last 30 kms are full uphill except 3 slight down kms, max 8%, 7 last kms are 7/4/6/4/-2/-3/2, hardest portion is 160 to 166 (6/7/7/8/4/6/5).

Stage 13 : Pakenham - Yarra Junction (211km)
Image
Last deciding stage, with a circuit with Mount Donna Buang to do 3 times (hill is 7/8/7/6/7/8/6/6/7/3/10/2/7/6/7/1)
Finish is 1/0/1/1 after the long downhill.

Stage 14 : Healesville - Melbourne (170km)
Image
Last sprint stage, with quite hilly start with 2 cat 3, but easy end, last 4 kms is 1/2/-2/0

4 sprint stages, 6 middle mountain, and 4 mountain stages, no TT or TTT

The key part of this tour will be for me to see how teams will manage stage 4/5/6, good stages to makes moves, and the really hard stage 13 after the 2 top finishes (out of 3 with stage 7).
8-)
Team : SM Team
Victoires d'étape : 374 ; dont les 5 monuments et les 3 GTs !
Hall of Fame : Katrasnik: 26724 pts

Tour of Northeast India

First a map with the route.
Image

Concept: The original plan was to have 2 days in each state, except Arunachal Pradesh, that was to get only 1 stage, since it's winter and most of Arunachal Pradesh being in the mountains. Finally the lack of bridges over the Brahmaputra killed even that one stage. Lack of bridges where we needed them at least. So now it's basically 2 stages per state, Tripura only gets one, but the rest day will be spent there. Assam 2 full days with 3 stages, a fourth one will be mostly in Assam, and another arrival and start later in the race, but with Assam being the biggest state it was almost unavoidable.

Special feature: No intermediate sprints: The money saved that way will be used to built a bridge over the Brahmaputra near Jorhat. If that project doesn't take off, we'll use the funds for better accomodation for Big Donkeys Team during the tour.

Other special feature: Donkey will request a 14h edition since if he remembers correctly the winner can request a time..

The tour starts in Guwahati, the biggest city of Assam and the whole region, but not the capital, which is in basically a suburb of Guwahati. A 2 km TTT. RKL will probably keep putting that 2 km TTT as a start until we actually have that. All or nothing for the stage, risk dropping a GC leader or sprinter for the stage win. Or play it save and keep the leaders but lose the stage?

Image
http://www.radsportfreaks.de/radsport/p ... ension=c4f

1b a very easy sprinters stage. From Guwahati to Nagaon, the 6th biggest city of Assam, and the 10th biggest of the whole region. Not much more to report for Nagaon, ok, seems they have the oldest school in Assam, "the Nowgong Mission High School, established by Miles Bronson in 1846." No GPM even though there could be one at the start, but we decided not to hand out a "cheap" mountain jersey that would be kept until stage 4
Image
http://www.radsportfreaks.de/radsport/p ... ension=c4f

Stage 2, another easy sprinters stage. Not even a km over 6 this time. From Nagaon to Jorhat, the cultural Capital of Assam, at least Wikipedia says that's a nickname of the city. No 5 in Assam by population and 9 in the region. First middle and upper Assamese city to get Electricity. So we'll hand out the electricity prize to the winner. Stage 1b will get the Nowgong Mission High School prize. Mmh, 1a will get the Assam Police prize, since the police headquarters are in Guwahati.

Image
http://www.radsportfreaks.de/radsport/p ... ension=c4f

Stage 3: The first GC stage. A 39km time trial. Originally we wanted to go for 50, but with a hard mountain stage coming and the sprinters having worked for 2 days... let's make it shorter. So the stage will actually start outside Mariani. The arrival is in Tuli, Nagaland. So there are some climbs in the last kilometers of the time trial. The question for GC contenders today: Give it all and risk not starting fit the next day, or lose more time and be fit the next day? No more special prizes from today on btw.

Image
http://www.radsportfreaks.de/radsport/p ... ension=c4f

Stage 4: Maybe the hardest stage of the whole Tour?`Or at least number 2. From Tuli to Mokokchung. The 2 hardest climbs are the one at km 90 and the final one to Mokokchung. Certainly one of the decisive stages of the Tour, today the support riders will be very important. Especially for weaker climbers or guys that haven't recovered fully from the effort of the TT the day before. Anyway, after this day the roles should be clearly distributed. Who has to defend, who has to attack.

Image
http://www.radsportfreaks.de/radsport/p ... ension=c4f

The second stage in Nagaland is much easier than the first one. Classified as a HC stage, it's only one because of the last km, a 9. Otherwise it's more a hard middle mountain stage. Especially in the approach to Kohima the terrain is rather easy, no steep climbs or downhills, undulating terrain. The extra circuit in Kohima then is a bit harder. A 6 somewhere, than the last km a 9. GC wise it will not necessarily be calm, after all not everybody might have recovered from the TT and the hard mountain stage.

Image
http://www.radsportfreaks.de/radsport/p ... ension=c4f

After only 5 days we'll have the rest day, the riders will immediately be transported to Dirmapur and from there fly to Agartala in Tripura. The rest day will be spent there. Agartala is the capital and biggest city of Tripura, as well as the second (or third, seems it depends on how you count) city of North Eastern India. On the rest day the riders will be forced to visit the Ujjayanta Palace, built in 1901 etc. etc. some palace basically.

The 6th stage is again for sprinters, this time a bit more challenging, the last GPM is 6-6 at km 140, so while normally still an easy sprint... you never know.

Image
http://www.radsportfreaks.de/radsport/p ... ension=c4f

Stage 7 goes from the north of Tripura, through Bangladesh (that took a long time to convince the Indians...) to Meghalaya. The first long stage of the Tour. Flat for the first 140 km, then the the only HC climb of the Tour. Long, lots of altitude gain, but generally not very steep. Start at 8 8, then few km over 6%. The end of the stage is still hilly, as you can see from the link. In the end a classic should win, for escapes probably not the perfect stage since they'll normally lose lots of time in the long HC climb. That is still far away from the goal though.

Image
http://www.radsportfreaks.de/radsport/p ... ension=c4f

Stage 8, the second stage in Meghalaya ends in Shillong. Another middle mountain stage, but harder than the first. Shorter but harder. The final circuit over Shillong Peak should work in favor stronger classics, while on stage 7 in the end a 70-x classic could be enough.

Image
http://www.radsportfreaks.de/radsport/p ... ension=c4f

Stage 9 goes back to Assam, to Silchar, the second biggest city of Assam. Indira Ghandi once called it an Island of Peace, since the rest of the Northeast generally is rather unstable (that's what Christianity gets you...). So on this day fighting in the chat will be forbidden. Cesare Squarcialupi proposed that fighting for the win should be prohibited too, he'd martyr himself and escape so that others wouldn't have to fight for the win, but in the end we told him that that probably would put the whole idea of a peaceful RSF day in jeopardy. The stage itself.. normally a sprint, lots of downhill, then 2 hills at 144+164, still far away from the goal though.

Image
http://www.radsportfreaks.de/radsport/p ... ension=c4f

Stage 10 goes from Silchar to Imphal, the capital of Manipur, second or third biggest city of the North East. The stage will finish in front of the ruins of Kangla Palace, another Royal Palace.
The stage is 261 km long (we got a special permit for that, usually the UCI likes to limit it at 260) and in the end is disappointing... grrr. Looked much nicer in the programming stages. 3 classified climbs, as usual not all that hard, then a flat end. Here it looks pretty good for an escape after all. If not, then a sprint for classics. If there was less flattish terrain after the second stage would be much nicer..
Image
http://www.radsportfreaks.de/radsport/p ... ension=c4f

The fifth and last sprint, another very easy one. The only problem could be the fitness, Gruppetto work on stage 7, maybe again stage 8, sprint on stage 9, lots of altitude gain again on stage 10, possibly again Gruppetto work. But normally this stage should pose absolutely no problem for sprinters. Churachandpur.. not much to be found on Wikipedia, but it seems to be one of the poorest districts in the whole of India. Instead some general information about Manipur and Insurgents:
Other than UNLF, PLA and PREPAK mentioned above, other Manipuri insurgent groups include Revolutionary Peoples Front (RPF), Manipur Liberation Front Army (MLFA), Kanglei Yawol Khnna Lup (KYKL), Revolutionary Joint Committee (RJC), Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP), Peoples United Liberation Front (PULF), National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN-K), National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN-I/M), Kuki National Front (KNF), Kuki National Army (KNA), Kuki Defence Force (KDF), Kuki Democratic Movement (KDM), Kuki National Organisation (KNO), Kuki Security Force (KSF), Chin Kuki Revolutionary Front (CKRF), Kom Rem Peoples Convention (KRPC), Zomi Revolutionary Volunteers (ZRV), Zomi Revolutionary Army (ZRA), Zomi Reunification Organisation (ZRO), and Hmar Peoples Convention (HPC)

Stage 12, the second big mountain stage of the Tour: From Manipur to Mizoram. Mizoram has a rat problem:
Every 48 years, the Mautam bamboo blooms and its high-protein seeds lead to an explosion in the black rat population in the jungle, also referred to as the rat flood, which has historically destroyed entire villages' food supplies after rats move on to farm fields and devour crops. The 1958–59 plague provoked a rural uprising during which the indigenous Mizo people launched a violent 20-year rebellion against the federal government. The dispute only saw final resolution in 1986.[119] The 48 year rat problem re-occurred in Mizoram over 2006-08.[120] The crops suffered massive damage, with yields at 30 year lows; the crop yields recovered sharply to pre-mautam levels in 2009 after the mautam passed.[121]
Feel free to Wikipedia the region yourself...
The stage: Up and down, lots of climbs, this time some of them are hard too. Especially the one to Khawkan. Final climb not easy either. MMh, I'll probably change the GPM of the early climbs to "2", now 3. Anyway, this is the last obvious chance to change the verdict of the 5 first days of the race (and the first obvious one too)

Final stage.. the climbs are generally very easy. Finish in Aizawl. Cool picture of the city here:

The 3 big climbs are pretty easy, more 3-4-5 than 6-7-8.. The last climb though is a bit harder, more sieb kilometers. A HC stage, but an easy one really. It still offers the chance for big attacks though, strong classics, strong downhillers can help put a climber in a good position before the last climb.

Overall:
5 flat stages
3 middle mountain stages
4 HC stages
1 TTT
1 TT

Overall I'd say as usual when RKL designs, it's a parcours for Hubers or climbers with TT. Reg helps though, with one of the 2 hard mountain stages coming right after the TT.
Kraftsystemrevision! Include the distance!
Basics reform: Give blue a chance!
Don't punish bugusers. We all have to use bugs, since most of them are declared as "features"!
