So, Tirreno and Nice 4 + 4, no more. 24h goes only if the tour or classic is shorter than 2 hours otherwise the race breaks.

Catalunya 4 editions as well, while Bartali can be in or out I don't see reason to increase Catalunya editions considering classics in parallel.

17-19 only getting one of the 3 cat 4 tours isn't good.

I will do Tirreno Adriatico.

Another thing about the calendar.
We're having pretty horrible participation on the weekends lately. Probably better to go down to 4 editions for Gent Wevelgem, since there is Catalunya/Coppy&Bartali parallel. Then Harelbeke maybe too, although it's on a friday, there's stil the same 6 stage race editions parallel.
Omloop Het Nieuwsblad... .UAE 3 editions, don't know but with the weekend weakness (that might disappear with high cats, but not sure at all) maybe too?
And then for some kind of fairness (although not really) STrade Bianche down to 4 as well?
MSR on the other hand 5 seems ok.

Stage 1-5 done, will finish 6+7 later.
GPM, there seem to be 2 categories, put 3+2, will check later if I find a rule book where it's written how many points are given, then maybe adapt.

A question about times. Is it possible to have Strade Bianchi at 10am (instead of 9am) and a morning edition of Tirreno-Adriatico too?

Re: March 2019

by Robyklebt
Strade Bianche at 10 should be no problem.
Tirreno in the morning a problem. With only 4 times per cat 4 tour in March, not all 5 times can have each tour.
Last year it was the afternoon and the late evening that missed out on 1. And then the morning and early afternoon that missed out in June on Dauphiné/TdS. So this year the other way around, Morning only 1 between PN and TA. And since PN was much more popular in the morning a year ago... PN it is.

I see your point, Roby.

But I´ve got the feeling that 18-23 got (to) much times there. (Its my maximum range). For me it would be okay to give up one of those for the morning who might have it harder to get good times.

---
At february the range from 18-23 (better 22) is terrible right now with Algarve and del Sol. Only 1 (!) time. Instead of the 4 times for march.

February times suck anyway....

Your range 18-23 is of course huge, not many people have that range I would guess. And that makes it a bit pointless, to have that as a group.

But look at February again.
Morning, 3 tours so far:
9h Valencia, 11
10h Colombia, 8 11h Oman parallel. Oman 3

So as soon as there is something parallel the numbers for at least one tour go down. In this case 11h maybe didn't help, but as a stand alone time with nothing parallel actually 11h usually doesn't do badly.

Evening, I'll keep your huge 18-23 thing, even if I think splitting that into 2 blocks (well, 3 really) is more sensible.
19h Valencia 9 20h Besseges 10 22 Valencia 10 23h Besseges 8
20h Colombia 11 22h Provence 7 18h Oman 6 21h Oman 10

All numbers from the calendar thing, they sometimes are wrong, so might be off..

So: that huge 18-23 slot had good participation for Valenca-Besseges. Min 8, max 10.
A bit less for Colombia-Provence-Oman, but still ok, minimum 6. Compare that to the morning that went down to 3.
Just doesn't make sense IMO to take 1 edition away from that time to give it to the morning, who then will have at least one tour with a small group.
And it's not as if the morning then in that period would get no tour. it still has a stage race, and Tirreno and PN are usually quite similar, some sprint, some mountain, Tirreno with TTT and short TT, PN only with a TT, often hilly. You can't ride one, the other for most teams is a good alternative.
Basically it's "share the pain" of less editions, the only time that doesn't have to share (or to a much lesser degree) IMO should be 20-22, they usually have the numbers even when there's 2 tours parallel. Morning, afternoon, early evening, late evening... they should share.

Kuurne-Bruxelles-Kuurne version 2018 looks similar to 2019... So we can use 2018 design by pokemon imo.

Only one thing :Tiegemberg (km 139) should be a 4 instead of a 3.

The rest looks really realistic.

Viva Gaurain!

Calendar PDF

Early evening no Catalunya, not the perfect solution either, but ok can live with it (after all was one of my proposals..) but then Gent should be offered in the 18/19 spot for sure.

How about this:
Change Coppi&Bartali, to 12-19. 12 as "off time", so that we offer it but try to have a small group (getting people to ride the high chat stuff) and 19 since that time misses out on Catalunya, without an adequate substitute. This one clearly not adequate either, but at least something.

Parallel classics:
De Panne ok as it is: (even if 19-19)
Harelbeke 10-14-18-22
GW 11-16-19-22 (or possibly 23)

Calendar

Drome: Almost the same as last year, seems to be 1 new hill in somewhere after the circuit. But since the la flamme rouge file seems highly unconvincing, our version from last year is closer except that it misses that extra hill with the extra km, I think we'll do with last years version. Or at least I won't spend time making a new one.

Ardeche: New parcours it's written, looks basically the same, but ok new version here:

Nobody seems eager to design, so I'll start Paris Nice later today... finish Monday probably

Other things:
We had lots of complaints about STrade Bianche last year... was all * many wanted ** instead.... we'll have to discuss how to do that this year.

I can do Paris - Nice. Will try to finish before February 28 for people who want to set their form. Would be nice to see Catalunya as well before February 28.

You can do Paris Nice, but I won't put your version online. :D

Since I announced that I do it and did stage 1-6 now...

You can do stage 7+8 if you want, planned to do that tomorrow, but if you do it, excellent. :!:

No Problem. Seems I missed that announcement somehow? Only saw the Tirreno announcement... anyways, thanks for the design :) Then we have it ready by Feb 28.

That means PDF finalized, no more changes!

Ok, I'll start putting stuff on tomorrow, (today my work is over, need my beauty sleep soon)

PN I can finish tomorrow, but as I said, if Gipfel is eager to do it, he can.

I won't do Catalunya before the end of the month for sure, so eager designers better work on that :D

PN: Will be tomorrow, today the editor seems to be having trouble....

Other stuff:
Milano Sanremo: Same as last year. Donkey looking for slight improvements, 0 0 finish, not 0-1, (lose 5 meters in 2 km, last 500meters flat, the 500 before 0.8% down, that 0.4 over the km, and even if it was 0.6%, with a flat last 500 meters... 0% better. the position of Turchino/Capi/Cipressa seems 1-3 km off... Depends on time though.

Strade Bianche: At first sight looks the same as last year. Will take out the downhill pavé. As for what "*" the gravel should be... any opinions? Last year was 1, got complaints. What do you all think is best?

Strade Bianche... Mmmh, normally we agreed on gravel to be * but in real life the peloton explodes, here nothing happens.

Maybe on those long passages, an increase would be realistic, so for example over 8km gravel, increase slowly from * to *** to reflect the difficulty to stay in one group over longer gravel distance? Not perfect, but maybe more realistic?

I'll start with Catalunya today.

Regarding Strade Bianche: If we want to be consistent, we should stay at *, if we want to get closer to a realistic race Gipfels idea sounds better
