Calendar April 2010

Post by Robyklebt » Wed Mar 10, 2010 9:25 am

Does Leso want Turkey or not? 2.HC this year, so as a D5+6 Tour definetly not an option. But 11-18, 11 PR, 18 Amstel, 14-18 Castilla y Leon.

Other things:
-Appennino the same day as LBL, perfect for the D5+6 race. Yes, there are 700 other races that way, but perfect to put the most important one parallel. cat 3 btw
-Primavera parallel to PR, perfect for the D5+6 race. cat 2

categories:
- Schelde should be 4, not 3.
- Brabant should be 3 not 2
- Cerami, Finistère and Llodio 2
- Nord HOlland 1, but knowing you you'll put it 2 anyway...But pff, wrong day, very very unimportant.... 1.. 1... 1!!!! 1!!!!
Kraftsystemrevision! Include the distance!
Basics reform: Give blue a chance!

Appennino and Primavera perfect for D5,6. OK
I think Turkey Tour not necessary, if designed, then only 2 races.
categories OK.

with a loupe and a generous up-rounding you may find 1% somewhere - but that wont change this race not a bit ;)

and i make Castilla y Leon

Mmh,

Scheldeprijs 9-13-16-19-22

Mmhh.. 5 times as usual now, but is early evening and evening combined.. 19h. Extra at 13h. Why not? Because it's cat 4! What could happen at 19h is that teams that usually ride in the early afternoon or normal evening and would be in group 1 if they had their usual time end up in group 2.. not perfect I think. Weekends? Ok, winter weekends at least the afternoon is strong, 13-16 good. But weekdays for the more important races I think it would be best to stick to standard times.

Aha... figured out the problem now... thanks to Aix. It's not cat 4 anymore, only 3 now.

Why?

Old rule was: Generally follow the old cycling4all calendar.

1B=cat 4
1C=cat3

Of course it's not perfect either, not the ultimate reference, GP Gippingen is 1B there too, but we always had it at less, 3 or even 2, don't know. Which is correct sinnce it's not really even close to races like Het Volk, E3 etc.

Of course the "value" of races changes over time, the calendar is from 07.. some things change. E3 seems to get bigger and more important every year... this year some of the italian 1B races have downgraded their UCI status from 1.HC to 1.1. Do we keep them at cat 4 or do we go down to 3? Something to be discussed, both possible. But the Scheldeprijs hasn't really lost much.. if anything. A solid semi classic, good international participation, better than many of the other 1B/1.HC. And to be honest it's very comparable to some of our cat 5 stuff... Plouay, Hamburg..No reason to make it cat 3. I know, too late.. not here and one race already done... still, for next year back to cat 4.

And races that are 1.HC UCI, but not cat 4 with us... that's why I think c4a was better than the UCI. UCI is "political" as well... Japan Cup, something in the US, different continental ciruits, Gippingen no clue, maybe a present for Switzerland, same with GP Indurain, Spain as a cycling country "deserves" on 1.HC.. not sure if I miss others... Except with Gippingen that c4a saw as 1B as well it was much closer to reality than the UCI classification. Indurain as cat 4 with us? Not really necessary, it's mostly a preparation thing for pais Vasco, where riders that don't have the guts to try Flanders (despite the pavé, somebody like Cunego, Valverde etc. could do well) ride... completely overshadowed by Flanders, no need to have it at 4... but better that at 4 too than downgrade the Scheldeprijs to 3!

Schelde was always cat 4 the last years
and when discussing about categories
what about Rioja, its a european 1.1 race, that deserves cat 2

And of course NOW Tro Bro Leon as cat 3 is absolutely unacceptable. It already has a Bonus anyway, isn't really more than a 2, but ok, with bonus for whatever 3, could live with it. But if the Scheldeprijs is downgraded 3 for Tro Bonbon is just wrong. Back to 2 please.

Mmh, shouldn't the last km of Paris-Roubaix be in the vélodrome? Like our fantastic track races, with the adjusted flat and sprint :?:

No, because the adjusted track-skills depend on the special track bikes without gears.

Trentino presentation is on Monday 11:30 - so maybe we can start designing right after that. I can do it with a little help of Ol or others.
