Rain Change maybe due to... the change that was made, probably forgotten. Wind is another thing, cause since we have a track direction information in form of the map, wind changes are very seldom, only direction changes of the road occur. Those, more or less, can occur every km, and can be evaluated...

I've seen that often enough in my own maps, so I might tell some reasons. The huge delay in the end happens if the track information is shorter than the profil numbers you out in. I guess then the next point, which is set at 0 0 0, is usualy taken, which would mean it points to the same point south ...
