Re: Tour de France 2011

I don't like it. I don't like any of the mountain stages except for Luz Ardiden. The Aubisque is wasted on a ridiculous stage, the whole Massif Central is a waste. Super-Besse is ok, but not difficult, then there's St-Flour where the climbs are in the middle of the stage and the finish is easy again...

Re: Norwegen unverdienter Weltmeister

Re: German cyclists and their perfomance

Big day for Tony Martin tomorrow. I doubt that he'll win, but he's been on the podium in all long time trials this season, so he should be good for a medal.

Ich hab da gar nix verfolgt, nur die WM ist mir da über den Weg gelaufen. Hast du Rick Zabel auch auf dem Radar? 93er Jahrgang, wie Zepuntke.

Why is the first climb split into two sections? It's a steady climb that is almost exactly 1 Km long.
Can you give details?

Re: TdF 2010

Ok, the finish in Mende is on the airport runway I think. In 2005 it was the same. Small races like P-N can probably finish closer to the climb, the TdF entourage needs the wide space at the airport to accommodate all the people. And I seriously doubt that they are too dumb to measure distances, but...

Re: TdF 2010

You should take another look at the stage to Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne, there is a big bump in the last 5 kilometers.

In Mende the top of the last climb is two Kms from the finish, not one.

Ridiculous. I bet he will make an appeal to be allowed to race in Italy starting May 2011, because he is banned in Italy since May 2009.

Re: Giro

Yes, different race then, Evans maglia rosa during the L'Aquila stage, BMC maybe less stupid than Astana/Liquigas back then, maybe no 13 minute group at all, maybe worse, who knows. In the end it was a great Giro even though the GC didn't have any more upsets for us after the Zoncolan. There were ma...

Before everythings over:

GC without Team Time Trial:

Arroyo
Basso +1:06
Scarponi +1:39
Evans +3:42
Nibali +4:03

Interesting to see, but then again you could have a GC without L'Aquila, or without the crosswind stages, or without the strade bianche crashes...

Re: Giro

Oh, a good result, better than expected. Important result from Evans, he's not beaten yet, but an even more important one from Nibali. If he had lost three minutes today Liquigas would have focused 100% on Basso. Now they still have that second option to spice up the race. Sastre, Vino and Scarponi ...

Re: Giro

Hats off Cerro, it happened just like you called it.
Basso was impressive, but it's not a good result in terms of suspense. If he goes on like that he will gain more time on Tuesday and if he doesn't have a bad day the race is pretty much over.

Re: Giro

Tomorrow: By what I've seen today and in the past week I have to go with Scarponi. Evans downhill: I remember the downhill from the Bonnette in the 08 TdF where Evans was able to keep up with Sanchez. But so could the Schlecks and Sastre. I wouldn't call Evans an excellent downhiller, but he hasn't ...

Re: Giro

I think they took a big risk today. I wasn't sure if Basso could even stay with Evans downhill and he was in trouble for a moment when the roads were wet. Worse case was Basso ending up together with Vino and Scarponi+Evans catching Nibali before the finish. Could have happened, but didn't. Basso wi...

Re: Giro

Nibali is a dangerman and a question mark. How well prepared is he? If we see the Nibali from last years Tour and Dauphine then he will be the best Italian in this Giro. Strong downhiller, Monte Grappa... Nibali was unstopable today. I think I never saw someone downhill like today. Bettini Giro di ...
